Thread.Resurrect I've got a complimentary media kit listed avilable to regsiter. I can't click to hightlight it. When I try and add media to my sub, the list selection box is empty Any ideas?

Hi Folks, Due to a problem with our initial deployment the two bad words and anti-bullying transport rules were blocking all emails. MS advised removing them, and re-creating. So I removed them, and.... they can't re-create them. Well I can, but without the filtered words. Could someone whack into a text file all the default words and phrases for both these policies and send them onto me? I'd be most grateful, and the moment (shock and horror!) staff can say whatever they want to each other!

Absolute worse was Royal Mail with the deeds and historical documents for the house. We were in, but he didn't bother ringing the bell or knocking. He just stuck the package under the car wheel, in the pouring rain. The worst part was the package was obsurced, so if I hadn't seen him do it, I would have run over it when I next backed the car off the drive. And these are pretty important documents! Another RM cock up was a DVD left in clear view outside my house

The worst I've come across is City Link once. I ordered my home PC and had it sent to work during the six weeks. They sent me an email saying attempted delivery, but school closed. Which was bullcorn. Checked the CCTV, no van came near site all day. Obviously they just thought "summer, school, parcel" nah sod it. Royal Mail also did this at home. The postie stuck a card through the door, as I was up and waiting I jumped out the house and asked for my parcel. He didn't have it with him. They make the decision at the depot that during work days not to take all the parcels out, based on the area they know *Number 85 is always at work 9-5* and then just whack the card through. I noticed the stack of cards in his bag had already been written! So they'd obviously decided not to waste their legs by carrying parcels, but also to write all the cards back in the depot whilst having their breakfast! B'tards!

Well right now they are Go, assuming the weather doesn't go south in the next 55 minutes.

Hello, Do any schools in the West Midlands have any of their old Acorns floating around? I know it's a couple of years too late to ask, but I'm after any of the following: *) A4000 *) A5000 *) A5000 Multimedia Unit *) A3020 *) Any RISC PCs If anyone has any still lying around, would you consider "recycling" them for free to me? Recall sometimes doesn't work. Frankly if you want to be completely sure either a) Manually open the boxes and delete, or b) Remove the message from the db and then open 25% of the mail boxes to confirm it's gone. Speak to STariq he's near enough an expert at this.

Just another quick one. If we give parents READ ONLY access to ePortal for viewing reports and attendance would we need external user CALs for the following: 1) To login via ISA with an AD username and password. This would mean I can tweak the parents area and put more "school specific" documents in there, which would be fine for the parents to read, but not for public view 2) To access the MIS database on the admin server which is running Server 2003 and SQL 2005? Or as it's read only view mode, does this avoid the need for CALs for parents?

Apparantly the LEA guy doesn't specify as he likes to give the school the flexibility. The reseller then automatically pick Device CALs if it's not specified. That's all fine, the only folks who access WebDav remotely are teaching staff on their staff laptops which are covered. I also got five free user CALs with the server, so I assume this covers myself accessing remotely from any of my home PCs - which would usefully cover me, the Office Manager and my Senior Senior Leaders.

Try the loopback option. That was messing mine up - couldn't figure out what was doing it until I saw that had been enabled years ago by someone. All works fine now.

And that's why I was confused apparantley we were sold CALs. Just plain old CALs and we can choose whether to use them as user or device. Erm, I was sure it didn't work like that. That they cost different amounts. :sigh:

Which is what I assumed. FOlks forget that the company who our LEA uses is that a company. Not a nice friendly government department, but a commerical entity out to make money. At the time it wasn't worth the effort to fight it - he was not budging. With the other little debacle going on with user/device CALs I think it's worth a phone call in the morning.

Hmmm it's got to be per device and I read it incorrectly. IS that concurrent devices as in you can have 80 PCs but only 50 are on at once (guarenteed) and you can get away with 50 licenses, or are they tied to one machine? Not that it really matters we'd need to buy another 15 machines for me to hit the limit I love LAN Sweeper

Hmmm I'm starting to doubt my own sanity here. We only have 65 staff and I swear the CALs were per user not device. SO why 74 and not 200 to cover the students. All this was arranged by the LEA before I started, so they must have advised the licensing correctly (! DANGER ! DANGER ! SARCASM ALERT! ) The paperwork is in my office. The electonic version from the LEA just says "Server 2008 CAL". Very handy!

Just to make sure I am compliant! I have: * 74 Server 2008 (bought after R2 was released so I assume the LEA licensing guy missed off the R2 as it's always the latest version) device CALS to cover all PCs * 4x physical Windows Servers running 2003 R2 Standard on three of them and 2008 R1 Standard on the other. All are covered by Server 2008 R2 server licenses (apart from our MIS server covered by 2003 R2 LEA provided) * 2x virtual servers on Vmware (for the time being) 1x Server 2003 R2 Std and 1x Server 2008 R2 Std covered by Server 2008 R2 server licenses * 1x Forefront TMG 2010 1x CPU license running ISA Server 2006 (which is virtual but only has one virtual processor) I assume I'm all hunky dorey here, and when I move to HyperV I'll have one spare server license. I run Sharepoint 2010 Foundation, which I believe does not require any licensing. It's open for the parents (anon read only) and for staff (login) - as it's free I assume I don't need any CALs, and the user CAL covers staff logging in for WebDAV etc.. Now it's only students which I need external connectors for - as they aren't covered by the User CALs. And from what I've read 1 x user CAL covers all Windows servers on site.

Hi FOlks, Before I started my school wanted to buy an additiional 8 Office 2007 Pro Plus licenses through our LEA. They were asked whether they wanted the 2010 media kit, and at the time as they had no one in the know - who would not know that you get downgrade rights - they said they wanted Office 2007. I've been told as the Office 2010 CALs were sold with an Office 2007 media they are now only Office 2007 CALs and cannot be used for Office 2010 (as the school chose Office 2007 media). I ask as we've now got access to volume licensing through a third party retailer and I'd like to use these 2010 CALs to replace 2007 on some PCs of staff who can't get on with 07, but can with 10 at home. Now was the LEA guy selling me some bumf information (perhaps in the hopes of getting a seperate Office 10 order), or is this MS practice that if you buy with a media kit, regardless of what is the current version, you get the version of the media kit. Confused?! I know I am.
