Well today i had fun in trying to get Microsoft let me take my exam on the 30th before my exam voucher runs out. Well they won i will have to wait to the 1st of july so i guess another £48 pounds is to be paid out. But on the plus side I’m sat here taking practice exams and watching the cbt nugget i feel sorry for a friend of mine who is doing his mcitp and the questions are now based on the windows 2008R2 !!!!! didn't see that coming...surely they must of told people about this. once i have my mcsa I’m going to upgrade that as quickly and humanly possible as I want to study for my cissp:),

scratch that i have just seen this Migrating a computer that is running Exchange 2007 to the Windows Server 2008 operating system requires careful planning, as you cannot do an in-place upgrade of the operating system from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008. Instead, you have to either build a new server and migrate your data, or preserve your data and re-build your existing server from scratch. Migrating Exchange 2007 on Windows Server 2003 to Exchange 2007 SP1 on Windows Server 2008

well what can i say I hate Microsoft unfortunately this is my 3rd attempted at my windows 7 70-680 exam and i got yet again a score of 646. I feel like I’m on one of them marathons where you "hit the wall". for the people are about to take the windows 7 exam don’t take it lightly don’t think it will be the same as the xp one because if you go into thinking that then you might as well put your money down the drain because it is hard and I’m not ashamed to admit that. This is going to be my last client exam i ever take again. Rant over

exchange 2007 hangs after dc removed
kevin_lane replied to kevin_lane's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
well the server i removed which was the last 2003 dc / gc for some reason and i just check it im a book i have and but when i was using the expba after reading lots of jargon it said that basiclly that exchange 2007 can not read at a 2008 domain level. so i doubled check to make sure that i didnt change the level to 2008 which thankfully i didnt other wise i would of been stuffed so i booted up the 2k3 server still had the computer account in ad which was good as i didnt delete that ran dcpromo added it back to the domain turned it in a gc exchange needs this and then i had to make sure that the server config and org config looked at the domain again and also looked at the dc also made sure dns was ok and all kicked in....... all very weird but its working -

no i have 2 GC servers the server has loaded after some time i have logged in but now is takeing for ever to load the profile and the profile isnt that big either. dns settings on the server are ok as i changed them before the problem when you say static enteries for exchange you mean dns ? -
I have removed a DC from our domain and now my exchange 2007 just stays at applying computer configuration upoon reboot before I rebooted my DB files. like community and pupils and staff

Need some advice I have now for some time have 2 new 2008r2 64bit servers which are acting as DNS, DHCP (Split Scope), DC both 64bit I have moved all FMSO roles over to the new DC1 server, the only role left on my windows 2003 is DC and CA I dont want to demote it from its dc role just yet. But i'm going through this nice document M$ have released on planning and migrating CA roles to a different server. M$ really over complicate things which to be fair i do understand they have to sometimes. Now I have backup my CA from my 2003 server and i have also copied the c:\windows\system32\certsvr folder as i want dc1 to take over the role of what my prev server did what is the best way can i just install the new role on the dc1 and then perform a restore on dc1 select the back file and let it import - or is that to easy to ask for and then remove both roles from ntserver CA role and demote

I have been using 2k3 for some time but when you are just a normal tech its not one of them things that you must always remember I have been a NM for about 2 years now and still it’s scary in knowing you have to be more vigilant with yourself in case anything does happen and hopefully your experience and any courses you may have been on covers whatever problem is rising but must say thank god for forums and kb articles’ I was going to say TechNet forum but they can be somewhat dead sometimes no one will never replies to your thread were as here someone will always try and help
