Everything seems to be there, many files with the following extension: bkf and then some dr and cfg
-
Thanks for your reply. Raid seems fine, no faults recorded. I had already moved on to that before you posted. It seems to be stuck on: Correcting error in index $S11 for file 9. Only problem with implementing DR is that Symantec Backup Exec 2012 was run from this server - don't worry, jobs were stored elsewhere on network attached storage. If I need to do DR can I install BE on another system and recover the files that way?

Hi, I have a windows server 2008 r2 hp mp360g6. It shows as going offline yesterday morning at 3.02am. I have wiggled the mouse and it is showing a black screen with a responsive cursor. NICs are all down and if I reboot, it returns to the same screen. Safemode with networking also shows the same screen and cursor. Safemode with command prompt also shows the same screen, Last known configuration also does the same thing. I have manged to get a command prompt via recovery mode. When I ran SFC scannow, I got the following: Running a chkdsk with no options after returned the following: What else can I do?

Windows Updates have not been working for at least 2 years - HELP!

Hi there, does anyone else have any further thoughts or suggestions? -
Hi, thanks this may be worth a go. I will pass this on. THanks

Thanks for your post, this is exactly what I would have suggested. Ironically, a school I work with has done exactly as you have suggested in your post, and their comments were: AGHHHHHH!!!!

Hi there, I have been supporting Primary Schools for a number of years and with the recent withdrawal from RM in the education sector hardware market, schools are struggling to find child friendly laptops. A couple have tried the smaller FizzBooks, but some of the older kids find them fiddly. Does anyone have some good recommendations? The laptops need to be cost effective and robustly built.

Can I add a second server to the domain to act as a print server?
talksr replied to talksr's topic in Windows Server 2012
I can do all of that without an issue, my issue is that the dc is a poorly win2008 server which is not accepting any windows updates therefore its group policy is really behind. The fact is uses Ranger to delivery icon sets, manage users etc again is an issue as I am not sure that I could migrate everything on to a new server. Hope that makes sense. I am trying to at least get printing and some group policy control by setting up a server which could handle these things as the current one can't and really needs some work spending on it, or wiping. -
Hi, long story short, but our 2008 server running Ranger has not installed any updates since 2010 (http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-server-2008-r2/131037-windows-updates-have-not-been-working-least-2-years-help-4.html) The server is refusing to update which means as a result it does not have compatibility for Windows 7/8. We have been unsuccessful in deploying printers to client computers. At the moment, we don't have the time or money to replace this server, or wipe it and start again, so I was wondering if there would be a way of me adding an additional server which could act as printer server and distribute printers accordingly? Any help would be really good.

Hi, thanks for your post. I have done exactly what you said, and I get the following message: Windows Update Standalone Installer Only one instance of wusa.exe is allowed to run. If I kill wusa.exe on Process Manager, and re-run, I get the following error: Windows Update Standalone Installer Installer encountered an error: 0x80070002 The system cannot find the file specified. -
Good afternoon there. We have got Smart UX60 projectors in all of our classrooms other than one or two. They have worked very solidly for years since we had them installed in 2011. Recently the output on almost all of them has become very dim. Before you ask, here is what we have done: Replaced lamps on all projectors (hours are <1000 on all of them) Had each projector professionally serviced and cleaned Reset menu settings such that they are back to factory default Ensured all vents and air intake areas are clear of obstructions I was really hoping the bulb replacement would have helped, but it seems not. Can anyone else think of something we might try? All of the projectors are out of warranty now, so I can't get in touch with Steljes.

It's not just wsus, its the frdc for the whole admin network. Perhaps a separate WSUS server is the answer, just an old desktop PC with a few 100 gb hdd space?
-
Have not tried that, which ports could I use? I don't believe IIS has anything else running.

Sorry don't know what has happened here, I replied to another thread and it has created a new one, kept logging me off every time I tried to post. Have come off of server and am now using normal PC. Could someone close this thread please. Here was where I was posting to: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-server-2008-r2/130307-wsus-error-can-anyone-help.html

Hi there. Unfortunately, this problem is back and does not seem to be resolving. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have reinstalled WSUS and it has made no change.

Good afternoon, could someone please clarify for me where the option in Group Policy is on a 2012k server for Windows 8 users to be able to lock their session? I need them to be able to either go to start, click on their username and for lock to be in the drop down next to change account picture and sign out or I need it to be there on CTRL+ALT+DEL. At the moment, our windows 8 client systems only show lock for an administrator user. I found this image on another site, ignore the arrows, it shows the 'Lock' drop down option I am referring to: Hope that makes sense.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Forget the USR codes, they were for a US Robotics aggregation tap. I got them muddled with my HP order. -

Keep trying it, but all I get is the following: C:\PSTools>psexec.exe -s -i -d C:\Windows6.1-KB947821-v32-x64.msu PsExec v2.0 - Execute processes remotely Copyright © 2001-2013 Mark Russinovich Sysinternals - http://www.sysinternals.com PsExec could not start C:\Windows6.1-KB947821-v32-x64.msu on SMCESSVR: The system cannot find the file specified. It is on the root, I did a dir and copied and pasted. Have tried downloading a fresh copy in case it was corrupted, same problem. Tried downloading it from another system in case of permission problems, same problem again. Properties on the file all look to be fine. -

Just given it a go on elevated, no errors, no confirmation. Not sure if it has worked or not. Time will tell I guess!
