Good morning, thanks for your posts. I have tried rebooting several times, checking BIOS in case of any USB settings, but I am getting nowhere. I have spent a considerable time on the laptop. My next option was to try another laptop on the board, but I already know that the old laptop worked fine on it with no problems at all. I was a little concerned that the AV company who had installed this and others had used quite long, thin usb cables - not of great quality, so I used some thicker wires yesterday, but made no difference. I am running out of options!

Hi, any advice on this would be really apreciated: I have a standard short throw integrated smart board. It has worked well in the past on Windows XP and Windows 7 systems. Have put on a brand new Windows 8 HP laptop and the board is interactive, but the green light is flashing. The smart driver software is detecting no IWB and no matter how many times I remove it from Dev Manager, reinstall drivers etc, it is still flashing green and not being detected by software. Have even tried different cables. I believe the only way it is interactive is via the Microsoft Pointers application (or whatever it is called).

Hi there. I believe I have already done this earlier to an external hdd. Say I took the image created by the Disk Utility, could I plug my external hdd into another identical iMac and open the Disk Utility in restore mode or whatever it is called and copy it over whatever OSX partition it currently has? It would be a quick way of cloning a handful of identical machines.

Hi, I don't feel this is normal and would love any second opinions. I am trying to backup some files from my own computer to our HP Network Storage system. We run two networks, an admin and curriculum. My computer has two NICs, one for each network. The storage server has 4 nics. Two for each one. Everything runs on gigabit and goes through managed switches (which in the future will be vlan'd). I selected my my documents folder yesterday evening and copied it over to the HP Storage server. To my shock, it is still going this morning and looks to have done maybe 10 percent! The my docs folder in question is 56.6gb in size. Not exactly huge for a gigabit network to handle. I also put on a copy of all of the school pictures and videos, from our shared images folder. From the same computer to the same storage server, this has also not finished. Despite being on for well over 12 hours. This folder is 97.2gb. Should it take this long?! I am sure it should be quicker. Thanks.

Hi, We have a collection of Apple Macs as well as Mac Mini systems. Among the documentation for these systems, we have retained one Mac Mini OSX Install DVD 10.6.4. This disk is incredibly important to us as all new Mac systems do not come with an install DVD. Could any one recommend to me suitable software to use to clone this disk so we can take some backup copies.

LGFL mention in the post that you can use your local DNS to point to root DNS servers on the internet which are not blocked by LGFL 2.0 network to get around the issue. Does anyone know which DNS servers these might be?

Good afternoon, I have been making use of my two HP dual screen set up for quite some time, I find it makes my job much easer. My screens are held together with one of these stands: HP Adjustable Dual Display Stand-No localization AW664AA#AC3 Unfortunately, my HP computer has seen better days and is starting to have an impact on how much work I can get done! Rather than go for another desktop style computer, I am considering a powerful but light laptop. I am finding that I am increasingly working from home or on the move. My idea would be to get a laptop which is powerful enough it can do all of the tasks I would need it to do from a network management point of view, but also be light enough that I could carry it home in my bag and use it to do work from home. Does any one know if it is possible to hook two monitors to a laptop? I would not want to use the laptop screen whilst at work, I would rather leave the lid closed and work on the dual screens. My dual screens have every kind of connector known to man from RCA style plugs, to Dsub, HDMI and DVI. Any suggestions and or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, I am due to visit a school this week who have recently bought a number of Windows 8 laptops. They have a 2003 server, and I am dubious as to whether these laptops will be able to fully operate via group policy. Has any one else managed to successfully add Windows 8 laptops to Server 2003 and if so, how are they finding group policy works with the Windows 8 systems?? I am presuming the server will need to be 100% up to date with Windows Updates to provide the updated policies.

Hi, I have a couple of the following HP computer systems, does anyone know if they would be compatible with Windows 7? HP Compaq dc5800 microtower e7500 core 2 duo 1.97gb ram product no: VC675ET#ABU I am guessing if they are, they will need more ram as 2gb is not loads. They came with Windows XP and an upgrade to Vista I believe. Any advice would be great

Hi, any help on this would be really good.... I have a teacher who has come to me saying her USB Flash drive is dead. Shes tried it at home, and on various computers at school. I said that the likelihood of me being able to fix it are very slim. After plugging into the computer, I get a USB Device not recognized warning message down by clock. No sign of the drive in disk management, but I notice in Device Manager Unknown Device: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) This is the USB drive. I have a Hirens Network Boot disk and I am hoping there may be something on there which may help me. Does anyone have any suggestions. THis is my last day at work before the holidays and I would really like to get a resolve on this problem.

Hi there, My head is very keen on having an iPad, mainly for conferences and meetings. I am just exploring whether this would be suitable for her, and my biggest concern is the lack of word processing software. I came across Evernote which seems quite handy as you can also install it on a desktop computer making it easy to sync work etc, however I think to make full use, she would be needing the premium version. Could any one suggest any alternatives or any views they have on this? Thanks

Thanks and thank you to all the other posts. It was the cameras! I, like you cannot remember the exact procedure but there is an option to calibrate the cameras. This has done the trick. Thanks again

Hi, we have quite a large number of Smart SBx885 boards and one in particular is giving me trouble. Whichever user logs into the system, the board is detected as expected, if you open Notebook and write away, everything is ok until you get to the right hand side of the board when it starts to loose its touch sensitiveness and ink becomes 'bitty' if there is such a word. The two images should hopefully illustrate the problem I am experiencing. The images were drawn after I drew various straight lines. These boards are multitouch and are not like the normal smart boards. They appear to have four sensors (one in each corner). Before if these have been obstructed in anyway or dirty with dust, boards have played up. I have ensured these are clean and clear, but it has not fixed the problem. The system is running the very latest drivers and smart notebook software. Any suggestions would be much appreciated before I call Steljes and see what options we have. THanks

Hi, this is bugging me, I am sure there is a way, I just can't work it out. My current RM finance package has the following target in it's shortcut location: "C:\Program Files (x86)\RM Management Solutions\RM Finance\OMNIS7.exe" Finance.lbr From here, the program will ask where your data file (*.df1) is. Once you select it, it remembers and will open it automatically next time. My data file is on our server: \\servername\finance\datafilemay2011.df1 I want to put the location of the data file into the shortcut so I assumed I would need to put something like: "C:\Program Files (x86)\RM Management Solutions\RM Finance\OMNIS7.exe" Finance.lbr "\\servername\finance\datafilemay2011.df1" But it does not like this. Can any one familiar offer any suggestions? My reasoning for this is so that in cases of profile load failure, the shortcut will point the user straight to their data file without them having to try and navigate to it.

Thanks for your post Ben. I have just watched a couple of videos on YouTube for the dymo rhino 5200 and it does look impressive, also considerably cheaper. The refill cartridges are not too expensive, how long have they lasted you?

Hi, I am having trouble sourcing a certain product from my usual suppliers (Misco, Videk). I came across the following in a network cab for one of the schools I help... I am interested in the attachments to the cable where my red arrow points. They are almost like the rings you might attach to a birds leg. The idea is that you put one on one end of a cable, and an identical one at the other end. For certain cables which pass from one to another cabinet, these would be very useful. Has anyone used these before/knows where I can source them?! Thanks in advance.
