  1. Very clever! I have just created one now. I gave them an IP of 169.254.0.1 that should put a stop to them using our network however they are! In the mean time, I will investigate further! Thanks again.
  2. How can I do that, I wasn't aware you could do it. Could I make a reservation and give a duff address?
  3. That's a good point and I have had a good check around the building to make sure there are no devices plugged in. I hadn't thought of that, I thought maybe someone had brought a laptop in and plugged it in via Ethernet but named it iphone? The RingMaster system is supposed to give me an alarm for rouge ap's and it has nothing listed in alarms.
  4. Hi, we recently had a Trapeze RingMaster managed wireless system installed to our school. Every few weeks, I check my dhcp address leases on our RM CC4 server, and I keep seeing matts-iphone.local appearing. None of the staff have been given our wireless codes, they are strictly for the school laptops, and I am the only person who has or knows our encrypted key. The fact the name says iphone leads me to believe they can't be plugging in directly to the network and must be using our wireless. How can I monitor this. I have deleted the dhcp lease this afternoon and within 10 minutes, it was back, so clearly this is still active. I have had a good look on the RingMaster software and tried running reports with the mac address in question, but it is coming back with nothing. Maybe I am doing it wrong? Is there anything else I could try to try and work out how this node is connecting and from where? Thanks
  5. I think on the new iPad you can use the apple wireless keyboard which would be a help, but a little cumbersome to have to carry around.
  6. I found the Aaron Parker Customizing Office 2010 before deployment document very helpful, so thanks for that post. I have followed the guide through fully and I am now ready to deploy. On the article, it says: His link takes me here: Deploy Office 2010 There must be 10 or so different choices for deployment based on different scenarios. Which one do I pick? I just want to deploy office 2010 from my Server 2008 R2. All of the setup files are in the P\ public drive, accessible read/write to 'everyone'. I was thinking, that it might be the: Run Setup from a network installation point option.
  7. I have a very strange problem in one particular class room. It doesn't matter how I orient the board, it stays perfectly aligned for about 60 seconds and then goes back to being very odd. I have attached a screen shot, of my straight lines. As you can see, they are squiggly, or very patchy. I tried holding the pen on the board really hard or less hard. It made no difference. http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g179/talksr/smart/iwb.jpg?t=1300964836 I have re-installed all of the smart software, updated all of the drivers and ensured it is the latest version, I have even replaced the USB cable. The only thing I have not tried, is trying a different computer on the board. Any ideas, it is driving me mad.
  8. Thanks, I ended up changing some of the control panel settings to allow users to change their screensaver/standby settings as they want.
  9. Can you use clonezilla live to take an image of an imac with a bootcamp partition( for windows) save the image of the whole hd to your server and then clone this to other identical imacs? I have only ever done it on Windows systems. Just wondering?
  10. Hi, I am working at a school who have been experiencing problems with ranger. When they log on as any staff user, the ranger (windows xp client) goes to screen saver "within seconds" (actually 5 minutes ) and locks the user. Staff are finding this frustrating as "seconds" after setting up an IWB pc for a lesson, it locks its self, and they have to go through the hassle of re-logging in. Is there a way of changing this setting in Ranger? Sorry I am new to this, I use CC4
  11. Just a thought, but what do schools do when they purchase iMacs and then install windows 7 onto them via bootcamp? Because they would not have had a previous version of Windows Installed, only OS X and they can't obtain a non OEM copy from Ramesys as Ramesys only provide upgrade options. hmmmm :s
  12. Hi guys, we are looking for a NAS box to give us more space for our CC4 network. After repeated storage problems we feel a NAS box will enable us to store the not so important images and videos or network shared software leaving important user docs and files to go on the cc4 server. RM do their own nas solution, which appears to have a copy of Windows Storage Server. There is a useful RM document for configuring the RM Nas box XL on CC3 or 4. From what I have read, it would probably be just as easy to go out there and get an alternative make NAS with storage server and use the same instructions. Can anyone recommend a good make? I am looking for at least 4gb with Storage Server 2008 and rackmountable. I didn't want the cost to be more than £1500 but that may not be too realistic if I want something reliable. I had seen some nice Dell solutions, we have all HP network gear here, but the HPs come in a little too costly.
  13. An update on this.... it seems to be working now, since I removed it from the domain, deleted the pc from active dir and then re-joined to domain. Strange..
  14. Hi, thanks for your suggestion. I gave it a go, and rebooted, but still the same message.
  15. Hi, I have a group policy problem for one single windows 7 client. I have Server 2008 R2, all other stations are collecting their gp no problem, When I run gpupdate force on the system in question, it says: I can ping my server, the domain and the gateway from this pc. It logs in no trouble. Firewall is off. What could it be?!?!!? I have attached the group policy report generated. (OOps, it won't let me attach)It reports back that every gpo bar default dom pol have been denied as they are empty - this is all lies! And it says: Any help would be really good
  16. Hi, thanks. I gave this a go, but it is still saying no network adapter in diagnostics. Maybe CC4 is just not able to do this. I just thought it would free up a machine if I could just stick it on our hyper-v system.
  17. Ok, thanks. I can understand how this works. But say I want to create a virtual RM CC4 windows xp system. I would create my virtual machine, boot to cd (insert the RM build disk), the RM installer would run and then it would get to a stage where it would report it cannot connect to the CC4 server. When you check diagnostics, it is not obtaining an IP due to no driver. If I were to use legacy network adapter, the vm would just try and boot to network, and if it did this, it would not read the boot disk which holds the instructions of where to look for cc4 etc. Do you think it is possible to do what I am trying to do?
  18. Thanks for your post. I will put it to the coord that it may be time to replace. It is not young, looks to be one from their original install which was a good 5 or so years ago. Thanks again for your help!
  19. I just got this reply back from RM which seemed usefull too: Just incase anyone finds it of any use!
  20. Hello, I know that once you have installed an OS on hyper-v, you can use the "Insert Integration Services Setup Disk" to install things like the network drivers etc. But how can I obtain the hyper-v network driver before the OS is installed? Is there a way of getting these before? The reason I ask is for network boot disks and such like, they won't run unless they have the driver already installed on the disk. And I can't do this unless I have the driver, which gets automatically installed once I insert the integrations services disk via the virtual machine connection window.
  21. Thanks Cesil and Educare_AV for your suggestions. I have ensured all of the vents are clear from any dust buildups and have not noticed any warnings regarding over heating. If it were the LCD panel, would this cost quite alot to replace? Would it be new projector time? Thanks guys.
  22. Good morning, I have a Sahara S2200W Projector Sahara Projectors: Sahara S2200W 3 LCD projector It is displaying images with a strange blue tinge. I have tried changing settings etc. It is similar to the yellow marks you often get when something has burned out inside of the projector. The strange thing is, at first the blue tinge is not there, then it gradually appears over a few hours. But if you then change window or come out of a screen saver, it instantly goes back to normal mode and the colour is restored back to normal. Does anyone have an idea of what this could be? I can't see if being the bulb as it would fail when you turn it on not a few hours later, and then be ok.
  23. I bet! We have only ordered two machines from misco and both came with windows 7 business. Everything else is RM and CC4 so we are all safe!
  24. Ah ok, well thankfully, to date I have only installed ramesys windows os's on pcs that came with licenses and stickers on the sides. That is very useful to know. Thanks
  25. Good afternoon, I am trying to get hold of a supplier of HP kit. I need it to come without an OS as we purchase ours via Ramesys. I was looking to get some HP Small Form Factor systems. Can anyone recommend any places? Would HP do it direct? Thanks in advance.
