  1. Hi Darren as stated I have deleted in AD and then prompted to delete mailboxes which I accepted, then went into Exchange SM and purged the accounts that were crossed. They no longer exist on the server but I dont know if coincidence but we cannot send to them at another site since?? but they can send to us OK.
  2. Hi all I have an issue in a Childrens Centre I have just taken support of, There were originally 2 CC's in the same building and 1 have now moved away, the support people have gone with them and migrated data/emails etc to there new server. The issue I have is this: They were supposed to clean up users accounts emails etc that had moved away from the building and did not bother. I deleted the old users from AD last week as it has been a couple of months now and now when my users email to the other CC users they are getting an email back saying "The following recipient(s) cannot be reached: 'username' on 28/06/2010 09:18 The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address. " They can email to anyone else no problem and can receive emails from the other CC. Is this something to do with a setting in SMTP??? As a test I recreated one of the old users again and sent the mail and it went to them?? Any help appreciated

W2k8 Standard O/S (not SBS) It is for a 2 form entry Primary so needs to be powerful enough. They also require Dell Laptops or Netbooks if anyone has any dealings with them Thanks

  5. Hi Guys Just an update I can succesfully send the password protected file internally, problem is sending and receiving to/from external. Synetrix and Atomwide provide the internet into the school so do I need to raise a call with them, if so what do I need to tell them. The weird thing is that we can send password protected word docs internally/externally without problems? Thanks again l
  6. Hi there, I had this problem a couple of weeks ago when users were complaining that PC was offline when it was switched on. I went onto the PC in question and changed all the power settings and display to never switch off eg: was set to power off after 15 mins of inactivity both monitor and HD. Also take hibernation off and sleep mode on LAN. Since I done this it has worked perfectly everytime. Hope this helps
  7. Thanks pete I will test this today and report back. Can you tell me both scenarios. If I can receive internally is it then an issue with lgfl? What would I then need to do. Thanks
  8. Have not tried that, sorry should have just said password protect as per message and not encrypt as in subject. We are running Sophos via LGFL. Dont really want to have to mess around with removing extensions etc as they will then have to put them back at other end
  9. I am puzzled with this one...My bursar is trying to send and receive a password protected excel file in outlook via the exchange. It does not send and she does not get any message back. She can send/receive normal excel and a password protected word doc. Is there a setting in system manger that I am missing?
  10. Hi Guys just an update and for future use. I succesfully cloned the data drive from a w2k3 AD server retaining all permissions and shares with Acronis Home. 60gb of data in about 30mins. Tested and all works a treat. Thanks for input
  11. Can anyone tell me if by doing disk to disk copy with either Acronis or Ghost on a W2K Server will copy across shares and permissions. Cant do it with Tape Drive as too much data for tapes
  12. Sorry it is a Primary 2 form with about 500 on role (or will be from the summer!!)
  13. Edu IT They will be purchasing new lappies and 2 trolleys that charge them overnight. I too feel your pain with headaches on the maintenance front especially what these kids are like, laptops are so fragile. I am trying to find some articles about issues with wireless in schools to frighten them off!! LOL
  14. Kipling many thanks and interesting reading. I am trying to change there mind but I don't think they will have it. They still will have aroung 4 wired PC's per classroom and teachers will have PC's attached to smartboards hardwired but they basically want a mobile IT suite. I will have to start planning soon for a summer installation.
  15. Many thanks and I will PM you shortly. Are all your lappies joint onto domain and do you suffer from slow logins, loss of connection etc. Also wondering if all these laptops will be a nightmare when looking to install further software, updates etc after initial imaging and finding a large enough area to lay them out. They were talking about laptops for the kids but I like the idea of the netbooks which you mention.
  16. Hi Jamin As a school that is on the market for a wireless solution I just wanted to know if you purchased the Ruckus equipment and are you happy with it, How many laptops are you connecting up at any one time and did you go down the route of netbooks for pupils or laptops Thanks
  17. The school I support have decided that they want to get rid of there current ICT Suite to make an additional classroom and have a complete wireless network solution with 40+ Laptops , 2 x 20 bay trolleys etc and I have been asked to assist in this. I personally dont think you can beat an ICT Suite and static PC's but they are adament, I would like to know if any other school have gone down the route of complete wireless and if there is any issues with 40+ lappies logging into the network and how slow logins, data retrieval, internet streaming takes etc. Also does anyone have any recommendations they could make with regard a solution they have used and are happy with. I am based in London/Essex and would love to hear from anyone that has implemented this in there school and would not mind me coming in for a look. They are looking at a summer installation and when the new building is built they want to be able to push this out to there also so something that is scalable would be great. Thanks Rob
  18. I would just like to thank Phil @ educareav for his help in customing making to my requirements, the service I received was second to none in both communication and the quality of work, packaging etc...I would definatly recommend him and will be using his services for all my custom made requirements in the future
  19. I have just rolled out office 2007 pro on new PC's and wanted to know that if I make the change in the options menu to save as office 2003 file (*.doc) as default will it retain settings for all users of that PC or just who I made the change under. We have a Domain vanilla network with GPO's etc. If it only retains for 1 user does anyone know where I can change so that it remembers it for all users who log onto it.
  20. Many thansk to all for input. I am getting educareavservices to custom make for me
  21. Does anyone know how to reset password on 3Com VLAN switches... I took over support at school from previous providers and they left a password for the switches but this is does not work so presume they changed it and failed to document. Anyways the company has now gone bust and I have no one to contact. The problem is that when a client plugs laptop etc into one of the intelijacks it sometimes picks up a admin address when they were configured for curric and the oposite happens from time to time. ( Seperate Domains) I can login as guest on the switch but it does not allow to alter or reset settings. Thinking of just replacing the entire switches but trying to see if I can do anything first. Thanks
  22. I need to source 6 Projectors to replace ageing/failing HP ones that school has. They are to be ceiling mounted on existing poles/bracket. Does not have to be networked and the only stipulation is that the lens needs to be on the left when it is upside down as ceiling mount has been positioned for this. Can anyone make any recommendations as the ones I have used in other schools Sharp PG-F150X have gone end of life and are no longer available. (please don't say HP as they have been a nightmare!!)
  23. Thanks for the feedback and James2k you were the closest to what I need. I will try to explain a little further... I require a faceplate with 1 x 3.5 jack (female) and on the back a cable with another 3.5 jack (female) that needs to be about 3m in length so I can run this up the trunking and attach to the 2.1 Logitech speakers (inc subwoofer) that has 1 x 3.5m jack (male) output. Thanks again
  24. Hi All I am looking for a 3.5mm Audio only faceplate with a non soldering connection so as to be able to just plug in 3.5 extension lead into back of faceplate for speakers. I have had alittle look round but cant see any with this only Does anyone know where to get or custom made I am looking for 14 Thanks
  25. Hi there The Headteacher wants the laptop that controls the LCD TV Noticeboard moved from her office and into the admin office which is across the hall and about 12m in distance. I could run a long VGA cable but as I have to go through 2 walls I dont want to have to drill large holes to fit VGA D connectors through as dont fancy cutting and soldering as my soldering skills are not that great. Someone mentioned that I could use vga/cat5 converters? Could anyone tell me a) if that would do the trick b) what the image would be like We are only running PP presentations through at the moment but may in time require audio aswell Has anyone got a link or recommend a site that I can urchase these from. Thanks
