Zimbra Email BGFL?
mtdmitchell replied to mtdmitchell's topic in West Midlands Regional Broadband Consortium (WMnet)
i Read it earlier today and as suspected Link2ict have decieded to implement their own username's hence extracting the data. Staff get a completley new email address from what they have now here (first initial of first name.surname) i.e [email protected] and studnets are ending up with 3 numbers i.e [email protected]. we currently use surname.first intial of first name+year of start i.e mitchellm09@ for students and staff get the same except for the number. This is the same as the domain login. So no confusion between the two. Opened a call with Link2ict as i cant see why i cant keep my current email addess, logins. why can they just extract the current username from SINA? -

mtdmitchell replied to mtdmitchell's topic in West Midlands Regional Broadband Consortium (WMnet)
Well for the username i would want it to be the same as our logins, which have 2 numbers at the end for the year they started. cant think of any other reason why they would need data fo Zimbra -

Do you have A 2008 Server? -
Just locally, But selecting the Local option from WGM i can only see local user accounts no mac machines. Authenticating to the Active Directory / All domains allows me to manage the preferences for the macs MACS
-
Hmm do i need to extend the schema on AD to use this tool? as i get an error when trying to change a preference on a local computer "Error while saving record "amac-02" error 14140
-
Just what i needed thanks
-
Hi Thanks for the replies, I have Mac OS X Snow leopard i beleive. I have binded the macs to the Ad and yes they are on the domain. That part actually was easy and seems to work well. " magic traingle" Great more stuff to learn about.

Would this be the correct version? http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=390857&Tab=2&NoMapp=0

Your Probably right, im jusy trying to aviod having another system to manage and learn!

I'm really looking for the easiest solution to installing a suite of 20 mac's (which management purchased) i was hoping to just restrict the account's though use of the default template, but it doesnt seem to work. MY MAC knowledge is very limited. When a new user logs on which template applies to them? I thought it would be the English.lproj
-
workgroup manager? I dont have a MAC server.
-
I have followed a few of posts regarding Customizing The User Template, this works when logging on with user created on the mac but not when logging on as a network user? For example i have removed items from the dock which apply to the new local user, but the Network(W2K AD) user does not inherit the template? What an i missing?

mtdmitchell replied to morganw's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
I decomisioned 4 rm cc3 servers in the summer, didnt bother to read the Tech Article. I demoted and formatted two servers and installed 2003, transfered the roles and then did the other two. Easy As long as you have other dc's . then just transfer the roles -
hi i need a bulb for a epson - emp s3 and a epson emp 74
-
Okay not so bad i suppose you dont have to worry about buying lunch.
-
Hmmm, A free lunch worth £1.70 isnt worth it surley? I've decieded like a lot of staff that work here to jack in the duties. Well they can go and employ a superviser to cover the duties , im certainly not going to work my lunch for a lower rate of pay"
