I still remember the ultimate cheat for , a 1992 Amiga game by Ocean Software released for Comic Relief. At the title screen you had to type dingadingdongmydangalongdingdong as fast as you could; if you did it in time the red nose the kid is wearing turned green, and I think the kid became impossible to wake up (which was essentially an invincibility cheat, as far as that game's concerned). I am or may not have just lost ten minutes to watching that video. That game takes up an unreasonable amount of brain space inside my head. I absolutely adored it. EDIT: the other Amiga cheat stuck in my head is typing "pea soup" into Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 to skip to . *loses more minutes to Amiga videos*

CPC all looked to be rubbish. Which doesn't mean there isn't the perfect product lurking somewhere on the site, hidden in an obscure category, but, well, CPC. That website exists in its own little bubble of 1996. Thus far the best looking option I've seen are the Novatech gaming headsets, but head of MFL is currently looking at the budget and how desperately she needs them, in case she can wait till Hills have stock again.

Mics are what always seem to break here--not intentionally, they're just the bit that gets moved about a lot--so that's perfect info, thanks. This is why I love the Hills ones so much--the mic doesn't move. But alas...

Gotta be better than godawful looking "gaming" headsets from Amazon at three times the price, anyway... Thread expired, topic old, Rise again, answers told! ~~wavy necromantic lines~~ So normally I'd buy the Hills headphones. They've done us good in the past. But they've been out of stock since at least February, and aren't showing in stock until the end of June, and that date has slipped already. INCONVENIENT. So anyone know of any good alternatives? These are for secondary school use (so the TTS ones look a little small) in the MFL department, so they need a boom mic (inline mics are no good as there are 30 in the class, so they don't pick up cleanly enough compared to a boom mic). Hopefully less than a tenner a pair, though that looks pretty difficult :/

Old school buildings = narrow corridors = no space for big devices & follow me printing, sadly! Cutting down on colour is going to be an ongoing project now I've seen the stats. They surely don't need that much. I've just run the figures and if we'd been 100% mono it would have cost only 43% as much... (100% mono is impossible, but shows how much difference it makes.)

Sorry @lmgtfy, only just spotted the mention! (I wish the site emailed you for them...) Apart from the Art printer mentioned above--nope. There's been the odd technical glitch requiring engineers/replacement parts (phantom jams etc.) but no more so than with the lasers we've had in the past. The ink cartridge stock is much easier to manage and replace, and I've not destroyed any work shirts by getting them covered in toner The savings really have panned out though. I've just been adding up the costs for budget forecasting, so I have figures to hand, as it happens. As a real example of the cost savings you get with these printers, based on a school of 1200 students, 550 computers: 2014: Oki Laser printers Mono pages: 586,263 Colour pages: 155,747 Total pages: 742,010 Total cost (excluding lease): £15,912.34 2016: HP PageWide printers Mono pages: 653,859 (11.5% increase) Colour pages: 224,024 (43.8% increase) Total pages: 877,883 (18.3% increase) Total cost (excluding lease): £10,320.75 (35.2% decrease) I'll take a third less cost for a sixth more printing. Scaling the cost down to compare the same total pages (I can't be faffed scaling it for mono/colour given different pricing across printer models), i.e. the 2015 volume of pages at the 2016 mix of mono/colour (aprox 75/25 split rather than 80/20 split), the equivalent cost was £8,724.21, a 45.2% reduction. Honestly: you'd be daft not to consider them. Epson also have a similar proposition now, so talk to them as well--can't vouch for them directly, but in general I'm completely converted to this class of printers over lasers. Hope that helps y'all in these dark days of budgeting!

I haven't, but a friend of mine wrote the Eurogamer review and she will not stop fangirling about it. Reckons it's the best of the series, and the best place for newcomers too. 100+ something hours as well, so I'll never play it, but that length might suit some

I've played about 3 hours of ME:A (signed up for Origin Access for a month at £3.99 to get the ten hour trial) and... eh. I'm conscious that I'm mentally comparing the opening 3 hours to the highlights of a 120-hour trilogy, but the writing is clunky (please, explain my own father's superstition and near death experience to me, I'm sure I don't know!), the combat seems okay but I'm stuck with boring guns and boring powers fighting boring bipedal aliens with assault rifles (there's nothing like travelling 2.5 million light years to find the same basic enemy combatants you've always known!) and I can't change my loadout mid-mission to equip the sniper rifle YOU JUST TOLD ME TO PICK UP and there's so much idiot plot that graaargh. The new jetpack is cool, though. So yeah. Two nights of playing through the first mission (just made it to the Nexus) and last night I chose to go to bed early instead. Not a great sign. Deus Ex Mankind Divided is 70% off on the Humble Store this weekend, might go buy that instead (If you're playing ME:A on PC, btw, make sure you're playing in Borderless Windowed mode, because if you're playing fullscreen then the game freezes in the big cutscene at the end of the first mission, and everytime you reload it starts at the beginning of said cutscene, which adds up to about 15 minutes total. And you can't skip any of it. Not even lines of dialogue. This is very frustrating, believe me.)

I think the shark fins can look good if the livery works well on it. The plain silver of the Force India looks appalling; worst looking car on the grid this year, I think :/ So many odd things on so many cars. Those weird Ferrari sidepods that look like they're winking, all these T-Wings above the rear-wing making cars look like mobile phone antennae, and what-the-actual-urgh is that Red Bull nose? omg om$g Just had an email saying they were closing off an incident as I hadn't responded to something three weeks ago saying it was fixed in the latest build, they were sending the CD. I remember that email. I ignored it, assuming it was a duplicate for the issue we had open that required the new build. Nope. Just looked again. That email of January 18 2017 was, in fact, the first response to a ticket I opened in November 2015. 14 months ago. FOURTEEN. F:censored:ING. MONTHS. this company.

Yeah, good luck soldier. In for a world of rubbish here. Make sure you tell them from the off that you want everything setting up securely with HTTPS, because apparently this can't be fully done after the fact, even though they never ask you if you'd like it enabling--even though, in fact, they should just do it by default.

Looks like Ross Brawn is in charge of the sporting side of things as well: Liberty completes F1 takeover, Ecclestone replaced | Reuters Colour me optimistic bit fed up of Bernie letting historic tracks get priced out of the game and taking the short term money from pay TV at the expense of fans, all the while letting small teams struggle financially. F1 is not in healthy shape right now.

Skyward Sword was alright--better than Wind Waker, not as good as Twiglet Princess (which isn't as good as OoT and Majora's IMHO, but then I played them on release so there may be a lot of nostalgia talking there). The motion controls mostly just got annoying, having to constantly waggle my Wiimote for the sword fights. Not enough to make it unplayable, but they feel shoehorned in for the sake of it, rather than added because they're any good. Still--a middling Zelda game by any other metric is still a great game (says this fanboy)

Agreed there. Especially off the back of a year of crap updates, where something has been broken and there's been updates that have needed to be declined, I am not thrilled about rolling it all up so I either have to have all the fixes (including a broken one) or none of them at all. What a brilliant plan.

I don't think that's true--they contain the same patches, but the Monthly Quality Rollup also includes all the previous months' Security Only Quality updates. So if you install Oct, Nov and Dec Security Only, you have the same patches installed as if you installed the Dec Monthly Quality Rollup. (It doesn't help that the names are a jumble of buzzwords and almost impossibly to delineate mentally.) I'm just deploying the security only each month, because that should result in a smaller footprint; deploying all the rollups would end up with a lot of server space taken up by obsolescent data. But arguably it'd be more efficient for the clients, who would only have to install the latest update. So I dunno which is the better strategy, long term.
