On a friends machine vista takes forever to boot unless you go into bios first then it seems to halve the time any ideas?

Not really lots you can do as it comes down to staff themseleves make them aware of the risks and maybe get them to sign something saying any confidential data taken from the school network to remote access is there responsibility and staff must ensure this data is kept both confidential and safe.

When you go to download the new version .9 eportal is stated as must download so i would assume you need to reinstall this

I am also the youngest memeber of staff at the school and yes it is difficult not just with the children but with the adults as both take offence to being "told off" for doing things they shouldnt, the way i work it is iam doing my job and if your gonna attempt to make my life hard i will return the favour

Hi could you give me an example did you mean Start Shutdown -s -m \\pcname -t 100 ?
-
I have a batch file that shutdowns down a whole room, with a mesage and a timer this works fine, the problem is if one or two of the pcs in the room are already off it seems to take a long while to go onto the next machine is there anyway of telling it to only wait a set period of time before it moves onto the next pc ? For example: Shutdown -s -m \\PCName -t 100 'Some command here to check if the next pc is on? Shutdown -s -m \\PCName -t 100 Shutdown -s -m \\PCName -t 100 Any help would be appreciated.

Has anyone got any documentation on the Analysis menu in cmis of how to configure it etc, if you have could you upload it for me ? Or if anyone has any good reports for assessment data analysis and feels as though they would like to share them could you also upload them? Thanks in advance

That leads me to a side question to this topic, can you create an image without drivers, just with the software you want on the machine ?, and let windows request the drivers after install?

-
scandisk checking errors dies and closes the window its self i will give flopshow a try

At work we use CMIS, we find this a pain to get the data the way we want it easily, in my opinion we pay alot per year for this system and should be able to have analysis and the push of a button not spend hours creating own reports, i do like the idea of being able to customise things for my self but i do belive there should be atleast some ways of producing those pretty graphs and colour comparissons with ease

thanks guys i will give them a try and see what i come up with

Any ideas on how to get data from a dead floppy disk, my machine tells me windows wants to format it yet i keep instructing windows to **** ***, i have had a look in command prompt and can see the data iam sure there are some good programs for free out there that will do the job i just find the dodgey shareware ones so any suggestions would be gratefully recieved

I tried running bootvis once i got an eventual download for it, as the microsoft link on longer works, the problem is when the machine starts it gets to the windows logo(where the progress bar goes) and then blanks, then you force power off and the machine will boot ( will prompt start menu for safe mode etc) but will then resume windows booting so bootvis doesnt work as it monitors the boot and then the crash stops the monitoring and often causes boot vis to crash. Any ideas what could be causing this ?

A little update, i did a memory test and this resulted in memory being fine, going to do a disk test next see what that comes up with but have also suggested that he gets a sataII drive and use that as his main with a fresh install that should resolve most issues.
-
See that was one of my thoughts adware spyware malware all the nasties but it comes up a clean, its a mystery
-
The machine has 2 gig memory(ocz) in it so that is certainly enough although i shall try the memory test thing as it is lifetime guarenteed, any other suggestions? The machine itself is about 18months old and is a amd 64bit 3500 chip with an msi mobo pcie gcard 256mb x800 radeon so its not a bad pc, and runs everything great once its in windows.

Ok i have a pc that first of all when you boot the machine doesnt actually get into windows it gets to the point where it should load the windows xp logo and progress bar but then remains at a blank screen just after posting, then you force shutdwn the pc then it will work fine ? any ideas i thought maybe bad hdd sector any other suggestions? Secondly the same pc will let the taskbar go over 10 times before booting into windows, any ideas on speeding this up i have speeded the pc up with removing startup tems etc , changing the prefetcher to only on boot, getting rid of unread mail warning little tweaks etc but to really no avail, so any other suggestions would be great So any helpful suggestions(not including format buy a new hdd lol )

Our photocopying is done in two ways, while staff have access they can also submit a copy request form fill in the details then this copying will be handled by administration staff this way it stops big ques at the copiers so if we were to have those with visual imparments or disabilities i guess they would need to use the copy request form.
