impressive list this is the kinda stuff i want us to be doing, but alas i have been offered another job with less responsibility more money and closer to home so i feel i gotta go. So my development with cmis will stop but still up for helping people if ya need any help so gimme a shout

Redirection is a possibility but personally we host our site in house, its something to think about if you have the equiptment.

i can see no reason why you cant directly interface with the db to get the data that you want. if you want to look at whats in the db either take a direct look at the sql db or restore a backup to a msaccess db and open it up and have a play around if you want to test take the backup restored to access move it into a iis set up and use that to get the hang of things and run tests on. Im curious of what other people use CMIS DB for anyone want to "own up" to and take credit for? Personally i use it to pull student info, assessment results and events into intranet apps.

we dont have as many comparisons, we simply compare between data and target and give 5+ result amount and percentage for ks3 and A* - C for KS4 in a year view i will get a screenie up for ya

Damn keep missing these replies, sorry about the slow response been busy, i use asp and link through with sql statements to the CMIS database i will give help to anyone that needs it i dont know how "efficient" my code is but all i can say is that in under 20 seconds the staff have the information they desire so it will do. I am not familiar with dot.net so i am not sure how i would go about it with that language but the approach i took was return all rows for a student for the required exam from nsturesults then i split the information in criteria data on the mapped id to give me my result i santised it then did some comparisions on that data. with the sims question they never recommend you use there database because you may save the school spending money they can take, although there probably more legit reasons but every thing i have done so far hasnt caused any problems.

Sorry i havent replied guys had problems getting on the site, i know facility has improved its reports but its still just not enough for my school. I got the above query working i added in an extra datset check in one of the joined tables that solved the issue. Thanks for all the input it is appreciated i now have a assessment view that does all the traffic light effects plus tells me where iam missing assement data, also it allows us to filter for children with sen and down to different groups male female etc at at any time create a spreadsheet output with the applied filters for staff to use in analysis.

ok this is to those of you who know sql and even more that know about the cmis database too strSQL = "SELECT DISTINCT(nstupersonal.StudentId), nstupersonal.Forename, nstupersonal.Surname from nstupersonal inner join ( Students INNER JOIN SENSTUSTAGES ON Students.StudentId = SENSTUSTAGES.StudentId ) ON students.StudentId = nstupersonal.studentid where nstupersonal.SetId = '"& varDataSet &"' and students.courseyear=" & varYr & " And nstupersonal.LeftSchool ='N' and NOT senstustages.stageid = 6 Order By NStupersonal.Surname, Nstupersonal.Forename" Above is my sql query to pull through all the kids in the year with a sen statement problem is where the stageid is 6 it still pulls those through so any suggestions?

how do you force a single web page to load the newst version
Kained replied to MkII's topic in Web Development
add the following to your page that should instruct the browser not to cache the page -
Is your school website DDA compliant?

The key thing is screen readers from what i have been told / heard. Just make sure you use valid xhtml and use alt tags on images and as pre mentioned access keys we have just recently had a re design of our site to cope with the law change as long as you are seen to make a effort in this direction i dont see where people will have a stand. -
as scot said change of provider is better idea but it also sounds like you are having issues with your modem my other suggestion is getting a modem / router if you want any more details if you are considering this option let me know and i will provide you with answers

Hmm how do you calculate value add?

Well in your situation i would wish them the best of uck and then go to my office and ignore the phone, but hey thats an ideal world. Here we have a refferals system based on events entered into cmis we have paper sheets filled in by teachers which they place in the tutor / head of yr's pigeon hole then it goes to the admin staff to put onto cmis (in your case sims) this is the easiest way because then one person is accountable for the information going in. everyone else if they have made the effort to fill in the form normally they will make sure it goes to the right person if not its not dealt with

Same here do the backup and import through the app but take a sql backup as well, just in case
-
This means your results should be set to 2007 in the database i did a data transfer to get my results into the sats ta part, but to ease your worries queries are only queries and not errors so dont worry about the q's

mark80 CMIS was written by an external company and changed hands many times the reason for the blank tables are for some schools in different areas that require them and for bits of the app you may not use, but most of all they have no idea what all the tables do and no one their end will remove any -*-* I have my project in asp and has been runining for well about 4 months now with only a few problems all been solved , if anyone is also going to be using asp and has any probs send me a pm and i will see if i can help with the problem
-
No experience with it but my advice is think of how the updates they supply go, now think of letting them loose near your ad schema?

If the cells are numeric cells set them to numeric select all your cells right click format cells then select number from the list and try the comparison again. failing that if they are text values do the same as above but change it from general to text. hope that helps
