We have several different types of motherboards etc as most of you probably do! Anyway I know MDT lets you import drivers from a directory etc to 'inject' into clients during imaging. Which works fine, as I tested it on a laptop sitting on my desk. However, after imaging a couple of smaller things were missing (Fingerprint driver) and a couple of things were out of date, both of these problems resolved after Windows Update. So rather than digging around for CDs / downloads for all our different types of motherboards is there some method of which to extract the driver store from a Windows 7 client then import into MDT? As then we can be sure all the relevant drivers will be available on the server then. In more basic terms: Stick a Win 7 DVD in a client, factory install, ensure all drivers installed and updated then pull the drivers off into a directory which can then be imported into MDT.

Got a guide which I'm following to set up MDT for our Windows 7 deployment, it mentioned there is a way to get it to boot into the WinPE using PXE rather than boot CD how is this possible? Also if we do set this up how do we stop it booting into WinPE every PXE boot? (As obviously we don't need to boot into it every boot!)

Has anyone managed to set up PCounter so it charges correctly for duplex printing? It charges correctly for even pages but not for odd pages i.e. all 3 pages of a 3 page print are charged at the duplex cost!

We're moving to Gmail, and a user tried to move their 'Documents' folder in Groupwise (library?) across using a IMAP method we have in place. Sadly, it didn't work and it just transfers the documents as blank mails with no content attached, and now the documents have vanished from their Groupwise account too! Is there any way to recover these documents or is the user cream crackered?

I've migrated all my email from my Groupwise account to my new Google Mail account, the issue I have is the time stamp in the inbox shows the time of the message transfer rather than the original date / time the email was sent even though that information is present when I look at emails. Any way to sync the information?

So this summer we're moving to Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 (from Novell and XP!) hence I am finding myself building lots of Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 virtual machines on my PC to test certain scenarios etc out in advance. If I activate them using MAK keys from the Volume Licensing website is there any way to free up the keys after I am done with the virtual machines?

We have dual Office 2003 and Office 2007 installs on workstations, with Ribbon Hero on Office 2007. When launching Office 2003 applications the attached error appears Any way to stop it trying to load Ribbon Hero when using Office 2003?

Does anyone know how useful the Configuring and Troubleshooting Identity and Access Solutions with Windows Server 2008 Active Directory (6426) course would be for me as a typical senior technician at a educational establishment? We are migrating to AD this summer and I've done the 6425 course Configuring and Troubleshooting Windows Server 2008 Active Directory Domain Services (6425) which was interesting but the 6426 looks a little...over the top? I was considering instead to take the Planning and Managing Windows 7 Desktop Deployments and Environments (6294A) course as we are looking to migrate to Windows 7 too and this looks to go into more detail over deployment and group policies which would be more useful I guess?

One of our developers has written a report which is meant to pull a photo (dynamically using a SQL table) from one of our internal servers: "http://subdomain.ourwebsite.ac.uk/InternetBuilder/Photos/" & totext(cdbl({qry_People_Enrolments.Person_Code}),0,"") & ".jpg" This works perfectly in Crystal Reports itself but when published on the web and viewed through Crystal Reports Viewer it doesn't want to work! Any ideas?

We are migrating away from Novell to Server 2008 R2 AD this summer One of my personal goals is to remove the need for Deep Freeze! Can a computer be protected just as well via the group policies available within Server 2008 R2? (I'm not an expert on the subject by any means!). We will be using mainly XP workstations until at least Summer 2012

So I've bought a PC home from work for a member of my family and am trying to remove some of the software they won't be needing, except since My Docs was linked to a network location had to change it back to a local location and modify the various reg keys which went OK. But now it is complaining the network location %USERPROFILE%\Favorites cannot be found, I've tried creating a 'Favorites' folder with no success, copying from another local profile with no success, resetting IE with no success Any ideas?! The registry keys are all correct I guarantee you that!

Does anyone know of a hotkey utility which we can map Windows Key + F1-12 keys to web sites? One which runs without installing and has a configuration file possibly so we can stick it in the login script Also needs to be free of course

Sent a support request to Steinberg who sent me a new activation key and said if we want a new dongle it'll cost €20! Surely since it is faulty they should offer a free replacement?

One of our Cubase dongles has randomly failed (And they've been mounted inside the PCs so not due to students for once!), is it best to get in touch with Cubase or the reseller? (Purchased under a year ago). We do have a spare dongle but can't transfer the license from the old dongle as it will not read (USB Device not recognized on 5 different PCs)

Help! We have just come across the same issue since our campus has recently changed all printing to divert to Ricoh MP2000 devices. We don't use AD etc at the moment so all workstations are local settings and while the VB script looks good it won't prevent the issue when someone opens a PhotoShop / DreamWeaver etc file by double clicking it in their area. SURELY there is a better solution by now?!

Anyone know where some 512mb / 1gb sticks of PC3200 DDR are going cheap? Paying over £30 a 1gb stick is pointless when the machines will eventually be replaced anyway! (Could get twice the amount of DDR2 sticks for the same price! )
