  1. Well done to the lucky person who got the Bradford role if they are on here, I went for interview but was called a few hours later with the bad news call! Not to worry, I have 2 jobs lined up in my local town now (Temporary one and permanent one)
  2. I've found a job up the road from me as a PC workshop technician. I just chatted to one of the guys on the phone and was going to visit (But can't until Monday since I'm fully booked today and tomorrow!). Anyway he basically said they repair PCs for a major firm and I would have to hit 'targets' of around 15 PCs per day. Has anyone ever been in such a job role before and how intense is it really? I could replace 15 RAM sticks in 15 seconds
  3. AVG runs great but you do need to install fresh from the LATEST installation file available from AVG website - I had a old build on my NAS which I thought would update to the latest build but it didn't and led to problems.
  4. I didn't get the job, oh well (They interviewed a previous employee which I guess added a bigger challenge!) Least I had a day out and got to experience pre interview testing! And I got down from 32 odd to 12 to 5 which wasn't bad!
  5. Well it was an all day jobbie - I got through the tests and became one of the 'Top 5' so got an interview which I tried my best in so now I'll be stood by my phone for the next 24 hours waiting for the phone call to say I got the job (If a letter arrives instead its bad!) The written covered a broad range of stuff, practical was component naming (The difficulty being the components were ancient!)
  6. The job is in a specialist building College which mainly deals with apprentices. Those questions seem easy enough apart from the monitor one possibly! I recently studied and passed MCDST and Network+ so some of the knowledge from those is still in the back of my mind I guess. Thanks for the advice so far!
  7. About £13.5k > £15.5k depending on qualifications. I've had so many tests recently though (Specialist apprentice scheme) I am getting sick of the sight of them
  8. Got a job interview as a ICT Technician coming up (Which suspiciously, also mentions A/V equipment, photocopiers and telephones!!!) and different to the interview I had last Summer at another company, this one involves a series of practical and written tests before interview. Could someone tell me if these tests will be basic 'Install this, modify this user that' etc or will it be more complicated than that? I eat, breathe and sleep computers but knowing my luck nerves will get the better of me and I will mess something up!
  9. I've took the day off after passing my 271 MSCDT (94.9%!) to get my 3 application forms for IT technicians out of the way. If you can check my person specification it would be of great benefit, please just drop me a message and I'll send it across once I've completed it in a few hours. Thanks
  10. Ironically the job supplement that fell out of todays paper has got 3 ICT Technician roles up for grabs, all based around the Leeds area (I believe all are in schools/colleges/universities too). I just hope they can see how qualified I am for my age plus how developed I am on a personal note and have a fight to employ me now!
  11. Sorry, after having a discussion with leeupo I need to state that I require a full time, paid placement rather than just a placement...Apologies if I did not make that clear before
  12. For reference I had to send you a private message through the site forums, just in case you don't get a email notification of it!
  13. Just my luck there I will keep checking here anyway so if anyone has anything to offer in the next few weeks (I've got around 2/3 weeks before I'm out on the street so to speak!) then feel free to post. P.S. I make good cups of tea Is Barnsley any good to you? If so drop me an email and i'll see what i can do. Im Senior Curriculum Leader for ICT at a high school so should be able to help. Barnsley should (should!) be fine, I'll send a email now.

  15. Hi, I'm currently 4 months into a Zenos Academy course (http://www.zenos.com) which is an 18 month NVQ in IT Practicioning. I will have completed the initial 5 month training stage shortly and will need a placement in an organization to complete my NVQ and give me experience (For what its worth I feel like I know quite a lot about computing without having had to sign up for the Zenos course, but I failed to get a job over the summer due to a lack of experience which is a bit swings and roundabouts as I can be hardly expected to have a great deal of that when I'm 18 and only just completed A Levels in June!) Anyway I just wanted to post here in case any educational organizations around the Yorkshire area (pref. West/South Yorks) had any jobs or spare placements available in the IT Technical department. I do have 3 weeks work experience of working in a school environment and I would be happy to provide evidence of this. CV, References etc available on request. I currently do not drive but have a provisional license and am taking lessons (Theory passed). Thanks for any help!
