Having tested Edge it doesn't seem *too* bad... although it seems to be completely broken when going through a proxy server. I just seem to get a "could not connect to proxy server" error :/

I don't see why people are so against giving teachers laptops, just about every other job you'd walk into now gives you a laptop if there's even the potential for you to work at home, and I'm pretty sure our teachers use their laptops to work at home often judging by the times e-mails are flying about! (We actually give iPads to some teachers too). I haven't used a CC network, but in terms of vanilla give them cached domain profiles with folder redirection and call it a day, use DFS for some redundancy. If you want to go all out then deploy DirectAccess so you can still proxy their Internet access.

We have around 5 Apple TVs, and our new CleverTouch TVs in other rooms that can accept mirror mode from iPads etc and see no issues, although I do stick them on a dedicated 'Mobile' VLAN.

3 have always had notoriously bad coverage, but their roaming deals are something to look out for if you travel a lot. Otherwise I'd pick EE, their service ought to only be getting better since they're taking on the emergency services contracts, meaning they can't afford to drop calls etc.

You might want to check the Sophos time matches your domain time. Also I think there's an issue with SSO on a transparent proxy if the first site they hit is HTTPS but I'm not sure if that problem still exists. Default authentication is only used as a fallback when your filtering profiles don't require it.

Hi Guys, How are you guys dealing with MS Edge? I'm tempted to try disabling/ripping it out as much as possible but not really sure how much it's gonna break things. Anyone else begun their deployment yet?

Got my free AP and license last week, absolutely no hassle or catch. I might well be calling them back about the constant disconnecting with MacBooks though, I was seriously considering them for future purchases until that started happening.

Have you checked the event log? There may be some clues in there. Don't worry about it, I did in-place upgrades on both our primary DC, and two Hyper-V hosts no problem (although they don't run anything else on them).

Everything's distributed/redistributed It seems to be working OK with our Windows 8.1 image, and any new 8.1 images but I always get the same problem with Win10. I've tried three different Win10 images and they've all been the same :/

Every Saturday at 3am with auto reboots, apart from our Hyper-V servers which I just do every couple of months when I notice a quiet time. Obviously randomly staggered via SCCM so that we don't end up with both DCs offline etc

No. The 'Setup Windows & Config Mgr' phase is exiting with error code 0 (success) but it blatantly isn't since the SCCM Client isn't installed, and isn't even attempted (since there is no ccmsetup.log). I've tried redistributing the image, but it's happening on our old 8.1 one too.

Hi Guys, I've been building my Win10 image lately and for some reason SCCM refuses to complete any OSD Task Sequences successfully (on Win 10, or our old Win8.1 TS). It seems to be failing to setup the SCCM Client and then rebooting to a half built OS. smsts.log is here: https://pastee.org/7dkq5 I don't have a CCMSetup.log, it doesn't get that far. Any ideas? The key line that seems to stick out for me is: I've been trying to work this out for the past few days now and I'm tearing my hair out Thanks!!

You license client systems (think Windows/Office/CALs) via your full time equivalent (>250 hours a year, who use a computer), this licenses every client in your school for Windows $version$ Enterprise so long as it is delivered with at least a Windows or Mac OS X license (of any version). For example, we license for ~25 FTE, but use licenses on ~70 computers IIRC. For servers, you'll pay individually, you just need to tell your licensing partner how many servers you want. For example, we license 3 Server Std licenses, with SCCM. This gives us rights to x3 Physical Standard installs (and 2 VMs per physical license), and to use SCCM/EndPoint protection with an included SQL Server Standard database. You still get access to the Microsoft VLSC, and see every single product/key for insane quantities, even if you're not licensed for it.

Change the setting on all switches that could potentially be receiving multicast traffic otherwise you'll flood your network and see exactly these kind of symptoms. Dumb switches wont handle mc traffic well either.

Do you have PS Plus? It's well worth the money IMO.

It'll be perfect for us, our county finally gave the go ahead to move from 3 to 2 tier (the only 3 tier county left in the country I think!), we'll be expanding in the next couple of years

I just setup a Win10 task sequence that installs SCEP from the SCCM Program Files on our site server, which seems to work 100% OK. The only thing I noticed was it has a different badge and is called Windows Defender once I'm booted into Win10, but if you go into About it still shows all my SCCM policies. We're running SCCM 2012 R2 SP1.

+1 for BitLocker. We enforce BitLocker polices and provide self recovery using MBAM, part of the Microsoft Desktop Optimisation Pack (MDOP).

If the server doesn't exist anymore, and there isn't a CA running the old one from DHS-CORE then it's unlikely to break anything as you said, AD is simply trying to refer machines to a CA that doesn't exist anymore. I've gone through the process to forcefully clean out a CA before and it didn't take too long, and nothing broke. Not my fault yada yada yada if it breaks blah blah blah

I can't recommend Sophos enough. We got the SG115 appliance about a year ago to replace MS Forefront TMG and haven't looked back. It does all our firewalling/proxying/reporting/AD integration/reverse proxying/VPN in one box. The bonus is you can download the Sophos UTM virtual appliance and play with a trial license to see how you like it, the virtual appliance runs the same software as their physical ones.
