We do exactly that, WMI filters on our GPOs for computer OUs. This is for our mixed environment of 7, 8.1, and 10. Then, once I get rid of the last PC with a certain OS I'll disable both User and Computer settings on the GPO, rename it to D- and unlink it from the OU. User OUs we just have 1 GPO per user group (staff/pupil mostly, with some others for office staff etc), rather than looking at the OS.

1511 worked 100% great for us, without this GPO option set. I've just set it on our network so will check it on a problem PC on Mon/Tues.

I thought it saved those of us who can't escape certain family members hehe

I can drop the L3, but we're going to end up buying another one within a year if I do, hence I didn't really want to waste money buying two switches. If I'm barking up the wrong tree with those requirements (I suspect I am, massively lol) then I'll go for a 2530-48G-PoE+

Tbh trying to find this switch is just delaying the inevitable, the cab in question is full and our school has outgrown our infrastructure, time for a real server room methinks. But in the mean time, if there is one out there...

I'm in a bit of a pickle with the way our network is physically setup here and I'm in need of a new switch, specifically it needs: - 48 ports - Some kind of fibre uplink (10G would be nice but it's not necesary if I can bond a couple of 1G fibre ports) - PoE+ - Layer 3 ('lite' is OK, we just need static routing for VLANs). and most of all... at least somewhat quiet!! It'll be going in an office so it has to 'blend' into typical office background noise. Any ideas? We have a HP 2920-48G-PoE+ elsewhere but it's just too loud, this new switch would be replacing a 2530-24G-PoE+. I have a feeling I might be dreaming with these requirements Thanks

Same as us, the only devices with the agent are staff/student devices. Everything else is done with network addreses.

It's such an odd problem. It works perfectly if I build a Hyper-V virtual machine with it (we use SCCM with a thin image) but as soon as I put it on a batch of our new Lenovo X260s the image stops working, even though it exists in the all right directories.

I'm +1ing this problem. Our user account picture (the school's logo) is appearing everywhere else just fine, and still works on our old Win10 image but we're just getting the standard Windows 'alien' on 1607.

Which is entirely daft if you're running stuff like CCTV and VoIP over your network IMO, you need to separate that stuff from your standard data VLANs. We don't have 250 devices on our network, but it's split between about 4 or 5 different VLANs with various ACLs in place. 1. Data 2. BYOD 3. VoIP 4. CCTV 5. Vendor supplied hardware (entry sign in system etc). So now I can guarantee VoIP and CCTV wont be affected by large data transfers or broadcast storms, and it means random people plugging into our network can't access sensitive stuff like that.

Just out of interest @FN-GM, do you mind letting us know how you've deployed 10? LTSB/CBB/CB? Mandatory profiles? AppLocker or complete removal of the modern apps? If so, do you mind providing a list of what you decided/found safe to disable?

Just to update... it turned out SB made a config error on their router and it wasn't routing our entire range. They expanded that and now it's all working.

If you block the apps with AppLocker does this still improve logon times, or must you remove them completely?

What VLAN do your DHCP and PXE servers sit on and what VLAN do the devices you're trying to PXE boot sit on?

I'm not sure how many but the 2530s are tempting. Are you selling the chassis switches with any modules?

Definitely keep us posted on prices! There's a few switches there we might be interested in. Surprised you got rid of the HP stuff, it's rock solid and no licensing fees

Agreed, how can you have bespoke software developed and paid for without having a clause in there that agrees to hand over all source code?! and if it isn't bespoke? Maybe it's time to look at a supported alternative.

I am at the moment, I just got them to run a log against the firewall rules for an hour... but I've just managed to find a way to ping from our Avaya PBX and it doesn't look like it can talk to the SB router (even though all our other VLANs can), so I may have just found a config problem. Will update with more info when I work it all out

Hi Guys, Has anyone had any luck getting SIP trunks working behind firewalls? I've got a Gamma trunk I'm trying to setup on our Avaya IPO but can't for the life of me get the trunks to come up. I'm trying to get a connection out from our Avaya PBX through SchoolsBroadband/TalkStraight. I have told Gamma what our authenticating IP is. I know they're compatible since I got them working on our publicly routed connection, but I cant use that for day to day use at the moment. What ports/settings did you guys use? Cheers

I'm not sure how Impero works, but is this an App they provided to your to distribute as an Enterprise app? Enterprise apps in Apple world mean developed in house by your company. If Impero is available on the app store you need to get X number of licenses for it through VPP and assign/deploy them to the devices that way.

The eggs only measure every 5 or 10 minutes. Problem is it wont track what you've done between those two points, it'll just measure straight line distance from point A to point B. So if you walk in a 2km circle and finish where you started, you'd end up with 0km.
