  1. Have you had a look at Go4Schools? Pulls data from SIMS, but doesn't write back (no need to). Drop SIMS for everything and anything to do with assessment and online reporting. Best move we ever made!
  2. Ladies, remember the MS three attempts (to get things right) rule, there'll be a lot of boobs in the first design.
  3. Certainly sounds like uplifting news for MS shareholders.
  4. I don't know I like to think we can offer the breast support for all IT issues
  5. Lol, keeping to a budget. Interesting how the latest spec's cost a bit more. Seriously though - would the difference be that noticable? (not played on a PC in a long time) - few millseconds here and there? SSD, mmm - I hope you meant with a standard second drive for capacity? A 120Gb SSD is the same price as that SSHD, same again for a regular drive for decent storage capacity? Dread to think of the cost of a 500Gb SSD. No, I think the SSHD is the better option
  6. It always helps having some of the odd bits laying around, more for the RAM/GPU. I actually did, had 5 minutes and thought what the hell. Quiet suprised what you can get for your money. Prices have come down a bit since the last time I tried this 6 months or so ago. Take a gander at this and tell me what you think... £698.78 all in! If it was me, with a little extra cash to throw at it, I'd double the RAM and look at the R9-270X cards. Pushing the boat out a R9-280X would be good. Should be able to SLI the GPU with the APU for a little extra boost as well.
  7. 100% agree. Since this is a complete new build, as discussed in a previous post, you've got to factor in the hidden extras - about £150-£200 worth (unless you want to save £80 or so and go Linux). This means your PC build is nearer £500-550. Spending £150 on a CPU isn't going to leave much for everything else, unless you up the budget. I'm tempted to go on eBuyer and post my idea of a rig for this budget - but I too have to do some work today/this week.
  8. Better come properly packaged, wouldn't want it to get damaged in transit
  9. What you go and do that for? aren't we doing a good enough job of confusing you here?
  10. I've got to ask (and am going to regret this, but), If I don't already own a PC, how am I meant to download Windows onto a USB flash drive? Chicken and egg...
  11. Fine if you don't want any games to play;) Seriously I'm very interested in Steam, might even be my next console, but Valve have a lot to prove (AAA) first. Not a contender for a good 2-3 years yet IMHO. Until you want to install that OEM Windows disc you bought for your new self build - very this decade
  12. Well, if you don't already have a PC then don't forget to factor in Windows, optical drive, keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers and gamepad. A good £200 on top of the price there.
  13. Lol, which is all I was saying. I'd be tempted with a PS4+£350 laptop. Either that or save/beg/steal/borrow £3-400 more for the PC and do the job properly (again - depending on games wanting to be played) Aw, bless. At least he tried. Even with the epic disclaimer at the start it couldn't save him from the fail. Celeron, really? God, if it wouldn't totally derail this thread I'd happily pick his $400 dollar machine to shreds...
  14. Funnily enough I was just thinking the same. For pure gaming use I not convinced the spec is far enough above PS4 to make the price and build hassle worth while. Suppose it depends on what type of games the OP wants to play...
  15. We use googlemail for users, so currently sitting at 30Gb. Not sure what the capacity on our generic secure mail server is, probably around 100mb. But we are bringing that in house so I can set those mailboxes to what I like. Just need to find the right e-mail server for the job...
  16. Is it too late to throw my 2c in? The first question is - are you replacing an existing system and if so what can be savaged from that? Makes a lot of difference to what you can/can't do with £700. Most build specs I see either forget components or assume taking from a pre-existing machine like a DVD-Rom drive or an OS. I think AMD are worth a look at this price point. Personally I'd be tempted by an i3 over an AMD. Not sure i5 would be worth the extra expense - that money would be better off towards RAM and Graphics. AMD are very interesting when you look at multithreading, were as the i3 would out strip AMD on single threads. Certainly you can get a qood 3Ghz+ Quad Core from AMD for a fraction of the Intel price. Another question is the quality of components. Do you get any old PSU or an 80+ gold? Asus motherboard or MSI? Crucial vs Hypertec? You get my drift. When you start building quality £700 is less than it first seems. Sure you can build an all singing all dancing i5 rig for £700, but when the machine constantly BSOD's and crash's due to carp compenents... For my money I'd be tempted by either an i3-3220 or an AMD FX-6300 married with around 16Gb Ram, AMD 7950 GPU and 1Tb SSHD. I think that should be doable for the money and would give a good performing set up. I suppose not far from Arthurs Spec above. As I say, trading CPU perormance for RAM and GPU performace.
  17. I had to skip-watch that - too long and uncomfortably embarrasing. Seriously whoever a Ch4 thought that segment would be a good idea needs shooting. I felt very very sorry for Charlie Brooker watching that. That said, I can see the PS4 Slim coming with a redisigned massive, glowing, flashing, can't miss it, neon pink, eject button and a CD tray.
  18. Alas, currently under UK copyright law media transfer is not permitted - so this to would be illegal. There was talk a couple of years back of the law being updated due to the farce that is ripping MP3's from CD's, but it's all gone a bit quiet. Edit:Ah, just found this - Intellectual Property Bill [HL] 2013-14 — UK Parliament - might finally be legal sometime next year!

  20. Eurogamer reports Sony allocated 300,000 to the UK: PS4 looks set to break records at launch • News • PlayStation 4 • Eurogamer.net Given a reported 1% error rate, that means there should be some 47,000 in shops spread around the country (probably gone by now). Edit: anyone know Microsofts opening weekend figures? Edit (Again): scrap that, should have read the linked article first! - 150,000
  21. No one's quiet like Yahtzee - very entertaining. Have you seen his Ryhmedown's with Jim Stirling?
  22. Erm, Charlie Brooker?
  23. No - but thanks for the heads up! Will watch tonight.
  24. There are also "publication rights" which extend copyright to the publisher for 25years from first publication.
  25. I've been using Navigon (by Garmin) on my iPhone for years. Pretty much like @laserblazer, mostly last 5-10 minutes of journey stuff to navigate around unfamiliar towns. So far, touch wood, it's works a treat. One of the reasons why I can't jump ship from iOS to Andoid (love the sat nav and would cost £50 to repurchase on another platform )
