  1. Yep, still in sunny (today) Norfolk. Seriously, any time. PM me.
  2. 1. AFAIK Standard is not CPU limited. 2. Host can have as many CPU's as you like but... you need to buy 1 copy of Datacenter for every two cpus - that's physical cpu's NOT cores. 3. You should have access to the Volume License Service Center. Keys are picked up from there. You can use any version of Windows Server upto and including the version you bought. So if you buy 2012 R2 Datacenter you can use 2012 R2 Standard in the VMs, or 2008 R2, or 2003. Choice is yours.
  3. Ain't you supposed to run the tv tuner through the Xbox hdmi passthrough?
  4. Just on the boss fight at end of act 3. I've retried far far too many times! Granade launcher appears to be doing the trick but I'm being flanked. Take my eyes off the the other guy and his magical endless machine gun mowes me down! Arrggghhhh!!!!!

When you grow up playing Pacman and Space Invaders, Doom looks amazingly realistic. Unreal Tournament was what, 4-5yrs after Doom? I suppose it's a frame of reference thing. I grew up playing games like Fantasy World Dizzy and Flashback, so when the PS1 came along with Abe's Odyssey, Tomb Raider and FF:VII, it was very real to me. Even today playing games on XBox like Hitman and True Crimes feels amazingly real. Maybe I'm just easily pleased?
  9. Isn't Einstein that came up with warped space as part of his Special Theory of Releativity? I think the concepts is space is folded so two point that where distant are suddenly alot closer together, you then travel between those two points at normal speed - there is no FTL travel. When space is unfolded you are at your new destination and the old destination is now back to being light years away. I'm sure it's been proven that space does indeed warp and fold in this way, and I'm sure gravity comes into the equation somewhere.
  10. You know, I just read this and something just clicked in the back of my head - I remembered seeing a picture of of Earth's gravity well and how space warps around it... Is that how planets and stars move through space? By warping space around them? Thus we can move around the sun at 67,000mph without turning us in to Pesto?
  11. Dear Santa, I've been a very, very good boy this year. Can I please have a fully working personal IXS Enterprise for christmas. Many thanks tmcd35
  12. It's funny before the PS4/XB1 launch people were complaining of a dying console market, low sales, empending crash. Just goes to show after 8 years the market was saturated and desperate for change. That said, I'm not sure the PS3 has reached the ceiling of what it's capable of yet (although GTA:V, TLoU, and WatchDogs are probably pushing it close). I think Ninty's E3 does show it's more about the games than the hardware. People will go were the games are...
  13. I used to think the same but over the last couple of years I've moved more towards AiO designs. Honestly can't remember the last time we had to do any of that stuff, that and we've moved to buying 3yr warrantys so it's back to manufacturer anyway. Very PC do a good range that's a halfway house between USFF and traditonal AiO. Their Flex PC's usa USFF chasis, so you can still get to all the hardware stuff easily if needed, but also have a neat monitor mount that efectively turns them into AiO machines. Good compromise.

Thanks. Learn something new every day. I thought the big thing with Doom was that it was one of the first 3D polygon first person shooters (wasn't it Castle Wolfenstein that predates Doom? also by ID). Seems like they cheated in places I wonder what was first not to use any sprites and do it all in polygons then?
  15. See, I don't know. Following E3 Sony and MS seem to be in the position Nintendo were in uptil now. There doesn't appear to be a compelling list of AAA titles in bound by the end of 2015. I'm begining to wonder if a cheap Wii-U could bridge the gap now Ninty are getting some good looking first party titles out their, until the PS4/XB1 picks up a bit more steam. Even titles I was initially excited for (Order 1886) are going off the boil rapidly.

Doom did use sprites - did it?
  17. Help! We have a very strange network printer problem and for the life of me I can't think were to go next for an answer. When we come in of a morning the client machines are showing their network printers as offline. However - all network connections check out, everything pings, DNS is fine, print server is running, print server sees the printers as online and prints test pages. Come about 8:15 the client machines suddenly show the printers as online and everything is fine for the rest of the day. Anyone have any ideas what is going on? Thanks
  18. Okay, I officially take back everything I ever said about Nintendo and their marketing strategy. Their E3 presentation as got me seriously considering a Wii-U as a second console for this gen! They've just announced a new fully open world Zelda, and a new Star Fox!!! Add to that Devil's Third as a console exclusive looks interesting. Mario Kart 8 is doing well in the charts. I've not played Windwalker so that looks interesting. Mario 3D World. Donkey Kong World Tropical Freeze. Lego City Undercover. What is it about Nintendo first party titles? They seem to be able to defy logic and sell their systems off them with pretty decent attach rates. Do Nintendo even need third party developer support?
  19. It was released under the title - Need For Speed Most Wanted and ironically enough, the driving was terrible!
  20. For an open world game car handling in 5 was pretty good. I thought both Sleeping Dogs and Burnout Paradise were better (nothing has beaten Burnout Paradise IMHO). Watch Dogs took some getting used to but is playable if you don't mind wipeing out every bus shelter you pass. GTA:IV - unplayably shocking. The attrocious car machanics are the biggest reason for not playing more than the first hour (that and the story ).
  21. I'm sure it'll lock gorgeous... ...In 4-5 years time when all the script kiddies have gotten round to making TMNT mods for it (or whatever).
  22. A classic!
  23. Have you chosen a list to use? Would be interested to hear what the final selection was...
