  1. LEA have killed it - I could be God and still not get on eBay here
  2. LanView does this to use the WOL feature - not to a csv but it's handy if the reason you want MACs is for WOL!
  3. eBay blocked here - search.ebay.co.uk is dead too Websense is my enemy - particularly with things like proxy servers when it thinks I'm a naughty student and throws out 'Proxy avoidance' errors! GRRR
  4. good plan - I'll have a look into it tomorrow- What is the general feeling about italc?
  5. I've been trying to get this running this afternoon. Ideally I'd like to use it alongside LanView but as a tool for teachers iTalc seems better suited to classroom use. The server app is installed on the computer I'm at now and the client is installed on a test machine in the classroom but I can't connect. No fw etc but I don't have ica running on the client as a service - is this because RealVNC is?
  6. ARGHH!!! SMT are watching us!!
  7. Not me! I also think that storing lists of passwords potentially goes against the DPA and puts the sysadmin at risk - publishing something like that is going to have people blaming you for things that go wrong. To end users ignorance is bliss...
  8. easy enough to back up though we're currently 'trialling' between techs
  9. Wildfire and Spark installed with ease- did consider setting up a database but the embedded is working beautifully. Might even be a little overkill for what I wanted but very happy... Thanks people!
  10. Nope. Reason: The Websense category "Web Chat" is filtered. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- URL: http://webmessenger.msn.com/ Thanks for the info - looking at Spark atm
  11. Thanks - Can anyone who can dig out that thread - or remember the conclusion? Mention IM or chat and you drown in proxy avoidance!
  12. Can anyone recommend a decent, free instant messenger for use between technicians and some members of staff? It would be nice to just leave a message in a free moment and not be tied to the desk - especially for all the 'urgent' (read:not time dependent) jobs...
  13. Anything online can potentially be attacked - it is likely that the information you'll be transferring isn't going to be of great interest to anyone and an SFTP server will be fine... Paranoia is often higher than it should be - but this applies to anything I wouldn't post my IP address and a list of open ports on the internet just like I don't have a neon sign that tells people when I'm on holiday at my house.
  14. Yes, 'interesting'...
  15. You can get 19" 4:3 or 16:10 for that... http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?VIE-VA1912 http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NOV-LCD19R High quality, beautiful panels are quickly destroyed by horrible kids...
  16. Got to agree with you here, I love black boots too, any boots actually come to think of it Boots? Fair enough - can't always be bothered to polish though...
  17. Just be careful - they might be here already!
  18. OMG this is weird - I've just been chatting to the centre manager and admin about this just now! We have a Crackerjack fan (a little bit older) and ITV girl... I was BBC through and through - it was CBBC or Radio Four thanks to my folks!
  19. For ten years Mr Patel at our local newsagent called me Joe. My parents and friends would correct him everytime but he could either not hear the difference or thought it was a nickname of some sorts... I just answered to Joe - it was easier...
  20. Do you mind though? I kinda like it and of course it starts most groups off on a Buffy discussion! I don't even like being called Mr Wendes by my IFA or bank - plain Giles is fine thank you.
  21. another vote for dbpoweramp here
  22. those really do not look tasty... things like that must be deliberate...
  23. They bought us all radios but as mine was the only one that was ever on that has knida fallen into disuse... I'm in secondary and they still shout 'It's the computerman!' or 'Hi Giles!'. I don't understand the problem with being known by your first name. Some teachers will only call me 'Sir' or 'Mr Wendes' and some are confused and have decided upon 'Mr Giles' Some on the more confident year 7 groups will ask questions like a 3 year old but generally I'm safe if I hide in my office
