  5. is it poissible the old server had multiple assigned address's? I would start by finding out what {box / switch / device} the default Gateway(s) point to! This device will be doing all the routing and hold the key, just out of curioiusity you say can you try adding a wireless device on the same subnet , manual IP?
  6. try giving the new server exactly the ip as one of the old de-commisioned servers IP and ping test again? , thats my 1st thought. 2nd thought would be to take a look at the cisco config and look for numbers like 0.0.0.3 in the routing table 3rd thought is , what is the default G/W address? look at the config on whatever device that is , is it a "core switch", sorry but without knowing your full setup its hard to diagnose

  8. excellent quesion, I say go with it, We are all facing these issues with apples as the latest fad, some say they are just toys, some say they are great learning devices. An ultimate questions qould be , are they just a fad? i dont want to spend my ICT budget on. But think about the future, if you have sharepoint / VLE and implement BYOD it may actually save money in the long run. Microsoft Consumerization of IT Epipheo - YouTube

  13. MACSIT i have to leave now its 18:55 here and been here since 06:30 , hopefully someone can pickup on this for you, if it all goes ok , then simpley install DHCP on the server and turn it off on the router ( to normally access the router you will goto http://10.210.2.1 ) , if you dont know wwhat scope to give the dhcp then set it too 10.210.2.101 to 10.210.2.200 . remeber in DNS to right lcik the server > properties > forwqrding tab > allow forwarding and input your external DNS forwarder ( else pople wont have access to internet) if you do not know what this is try 8.8.8.8 - reboot a pc, try joining the domain! hope you get there.
  14. OK try giving your server the ip address 10.210.2.100, set the DNS to 127.0.0.1, default GW to 10.210.2.1 , untick tcpip 6 and see if you can ping the router, if you can then start the above process's

We have windows 7 clients who randomly cannot see \\server\students$ , so it doesnt map their h:\ when logging in as administrator and trying to click start > run \\server4\students$ it tells me access is denied!!!!!! Administrator is set ffull NTFS permissions + share permisions yet on the exactl same windows 7 client next to it i can access it ???? any ideas>? ps.s. the server is 2003 r2
  20. exact same problem, Re imaging / MDTing the machine helps but then sometimes it appears on another machine. When loghging in as admin and try to accss \\server\share$ where the users h drive is on it says access denied. BUT the permissions are allowed, it can do it from another machine!
  21. i agree with synack, however if you really really wanted to you would use grab a copy of the dhcp MDB file "clean" ( with no users on it) and then the batch file would simply stop the service and copy/ overwrite to mdb and start the service . You can use the task scheduler to automate
