We are going to use Education. We do not know yet if Microsoft are planning something specific for the Education version later on. Maybe they won't but Enterprise doesn't offer any difference.

Had the same problem tonight. Weird. Uninstalled 32bit and installed 64bit and was still really laggy and slow. I too sign in with my google account and it syncs my bookmarks etc. what I did do was clear browsing data since beginning of time only unchecking my remembered passwords. Bizarrely it worked CPU started the ramp down and no problems since!

You can for Windows 8 Enterprise Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / System / Logon Show first sign-in animation. Modify and set to Disabled. I've not tested it on 10 but can't see why it wouldn't work.

Windows Update for Business will be launching soon, so it looks like Current Branch updates for Education can be managed through that eventually. In the meantime WSUS can stop Current Branch updates. Though both cannot stop indefinitely.

Maybe but that's not what it's designed for apparently. Cashless catering machines and tills may use LTSB from now on maybe? I don't know, ours is Vericool so they deal with all that. Our digital signage screens have windows update turned off.

No it's not. LTSB is targeted for NHS, Government or Emergency Services. Where their systems cannot be changed at will. I've asked for clarification but it is wrong. Schools don't need LTSB.

So if a pc was going to cost £500 with Pro but only £400 with Home I would save money as can install Education or upgrade. However with Enterprise I couldn't upgrade Maybe more of a perk to smaller schools who don't have dedicated IT, or big orders from a cost saving perspective?

Well spotted. I'll see if I can get clarification.

The new policies are stored in C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions on Windows 10. If you copy that folder to the server they will show in GPO's. A word of warning though MS has borked a few file names as described here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3077013 you can rename it though to get around the issue. All described in this link.

No it means exactly the same features as Enterprise but allows schools to purchase kit with a home licence and upgrade it to Education if they have EES. That's what I have took from that??

After several posts on other threads about the different between Windows 10 Education & Enterprise. I've created this thread so as not to hijack the others any further! I pinged off an email to a few MS contacts at Reading asking what the different was between Education and Enterprise versions Here is the response and I quote

I agree with some and see your point. With the lack of information it's hard to make an informed decision. I question whether MS even wanted schools to roll out this year with the launch date being weeks into the summer holidays couple that now with the lack of info. Certainly we nor anyone else seems to have been canvassed, individually or as a collective about what's wanted/needed. The Metro apps are the first to go on any build I create. Why they have been included in Education is beyond me. But rushing at this stage and saying Enterprise is the way forward I don't think is very helpful. Some people may take that as Education is no good. Go and install it everywhere and then bang low and behold Microsoft release something that's for the Education version only...... Stranger things have happened

Am I missing something here? In our environment nothing gets upgraded. Each machine is flattened and reimaged via SCCM. I sort of assumed most educational environments do the same using whatever imaging product they use? This then leaves the issue of what version can upgrade to what irrelevant? Seeing lots of posts about Enterprise VS Education. What concerns me at the moment is Microsoft have created an Education version for some reason. Either it's full potential hasn't been released yet or its for licensing reasons? Microsoft shoot themselves in the foot every time with just little snippets of information. I've seen information about Enterprise not installing all the cr*p apps like news, Xbox and maps etc etc. Education seems too. That's annoying as we don't want that included! It was a pita with 8. One thing worrying me is this LTSB difference I don't fully grasp it at the moment as I haven't looked into it but I know for sure if I deploy 10 I don't want it being upgraded whenever MS decides. We make that decision as a team. Otherwise it leads to inconsistency with what's on what around the sites..... Need to read more into this I think?

So windows 10 Education installed nicely and configured, what a PITA it is without any RSAT tools? Surprising how much you come to rely on them. Hopping around all different servers is a right faff! Can't find any news on when they will be made available either, anyone any idea?

Our department has activated with a MAK key until i get around to building a new KMS server. It still showing even when activated.

Haven't found a way of getting rid of this yet. Quite annoying!

How would the licensing work on that? Giving a member of staff An ISO of education to upgrade their own device? Maybe something will be changing later on?
