  2. I get Tupe'd over to Civica next year. Following meetings with the local Council & Civica I am surprised they bother calling the process Tupe at all. We are merging with another school and the Council have signed up for just 1 ICT Technician. Your situation may be totally different tho. There are currently 2 NMs & 2 Techs between the 2 schools. I don't want to go into too much detail on an open forum but if you want to pm me feel free
  3. 1:2 ish
  4. You might find this link useful if CTM causes issues How to Recover your Drive, if CTM made it not boot
  5. The figure for the BBC Managers is staggering - 331 managers on £100k + a year
  6. BBC News - 9,000 in public sector get more pay than prime minister
  7. The guy who has a stand at our local town market selling all sorts of foam and padding quoted £60 to supply 2 pieces of good quality foam cut to size for 2 sofa cushions. I don't know what extra work is involved with your setup eg unstitching & restitching the cushions etc but the upper quote of £650 seems excessive.

    IRC

Wow, I thought IRC died ages ago. I remember Dalnet, Starnet, EFnet etc etc from the mid 90's and even setting up an IRC quiz bot on an internal network for a bit of fun. Thousands of channels catering for a wide range of tastes.

  13. Good points-instead of being bossy, wouldn't assertive with a sprinkling of humour thrown in be a better way. No-ones gonna smile naturally if they're getting bossed to death.
  14. Facebook libel case
  15. The Digital Economy Act 2010 (c. 24) is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom regulating digital media. It received Royal Assent on 8 April 2010, and came into force on 8 June 2010 (with the exception of certain sections that came into force on 8 April; and certain other sections that will be brought into force by statutory instrument).[1] From Wikipedia According to Wikipedia this Law is now in force - If Wikipedia is correct, my question would be, what can we do?
  16. You have said yourself ' the jury is still out on who will be classed as the ISP'. 'Schools.....may be classed as ISPs' Until these facts are established I don't think there is any point in guessing what the outcome may be. Naive? No, Waiting to see the cold hard facts, Yes.
  17. Absolutely. Unfortunately, Microsoft has tried (& failed on many counts) to be all things to all users.
  18. How much do they pay these people to come up with these names?
  19. I give the member of staff one warning and give them a day to remove it. Next time it just gets deleted (& I have the blessing of Senior management to do this)
  20. How much are they and whats your price budget?? I have had nothing but problems with Toshiba recently; in particular their incompetent repair centre in Germany. Just bought some nice Samsung R530s which were cheap enough
  21. You can't beat a good bit of prog rock
  22. I had a similar prob on XP and a reinstall of SP3 fixed the issue
  23. I would suggest you get approval for this scheme from your Governing Body before offering anything for sale/donation
  24. Exactly-the same goes for sharing mobile phone numbers with them etc etc - it's common sense. Our guidelines on social networking extends to parents/carers too
  25. If he is going to tough it out he needs to get his facts correct and presented accurately first time round - the way these cutbacks have been announced has been shambolic to say the least (regardless of looking at the bigger picture).
