  1. You're always going to get poor output from Word, try mocking something up in Illustrator and my guess is you'll see a huge improvement in quality.
  2. I think there's a limit to the quality you can get with thermal printers like ID Card printers. We used to have a Magicard machine about 10 years ago and the quality was terrible. The Primacy is a big step up from that. One thing that's important is selecting your design carefully. We use gradients of colour for backgrounds on our cards rather than solid colour - it hides any oddities really well. If you have a large block of the same colour, any inconsistencies are really obvious. The other part to take into consideration is the card software you use. If you're using a system that generates a flat image to print, you can end up with really poor quality text. If the design is a vector, layered, output then the text will be much better (we used to print our cards with Illustrator, and the difference between that and a flat image was pretty significant). What software do you use to generate your cards?
  3. We've got 3 Evolis Primacy printers and find them excellent. Print quality is nearly always great. The only issues we've ever found were where the cards weren't particularly great quality and there was some inconsistency on the printed surface. We have the lamination module on one of them as well (2 are in schools, for use printing pupil dinner cards, 1 printer is central and used only for staff cards - this is the one with the lamination module, as we found our nursery/EYFS staff cards were getting dissolved due to the high amounts of cleaning products they use all the time, the lamination stopped this). How old is your printer and have you been running cleaning cycles as needed?
  4. We have readers on exits here, with fire release automated on the doors - fire bell goes, maglocks disengage.
  5. I only add myself to a team when an issue is brought up. Otherwise, I'm only in the teams relevant to me. Can't see a reason to be in them all the time.
  6. What is your SSO provider?
  7. Those are the boxes in PaperCut - that's how they get displayed in the admin panel there. Users see the totals on screen, not the per-print cost etc...
  8. In relation to what the others have said, how do you handle passwords with Google? Do you have Single Sign On enabled? Eg. Do you have it use Microsoft as the sign on system, or a separate SAML based login page?
  9. The choice by the OP seems to be a little odd to me? RMM is a tool, and going to an MSP is outsourcing entirely. They're not really an "either/or" situation? An MSP will use RMM. The way you run your IT at a MAT depends on your needs. Personally, I find the idea of an MSP too restrictive - having in-house staff allows total flexibility as to the needs of the MAT. Having RMM in place is a no brainer in either situation. Though, how you implement that varies on needs as well. For us, we have Config Manager in place for many aspects of RMM, and we've just purchased Service Desk Plus which has another aspect of it. Our focus is more on ITSM than RMM at the moment - as RMM is a "solved" issue for us through Config Manager (which is included in our MS volume license for no extra cost).
  10. Those prices do seem very high. We charge 1p per mono and 3p per colour. But, we don't take into account the lease in the calculations. We cover only the cost of the toner and paper. And even at 1p/3p, that leaves some wiggle room for us.
  11. WARNING: Don't break a digital miner with a pickaxe with excavate enchant on it. It seems to simply delete the digital miner.
  12. Pack updated to version 1.7.0
  13. We have some monitors with wall wart power bricks - the plug is the transformer. So, you can't even be sure if those with barrel plugs use the mid-line transformer style power connectivity. Realistically, this is where you need to work with an account manager at a decent reseller and get them to go and find the specifics for you before purchase. Buying online will only ever be down to luck.
  14. Do you use Azure/Entra ID at all? Ie. do you use Office 365? If so, there's tooling built in. We use this across our schools, with delegated members of staff able to change passwords for children in only their school on our 365 tenant. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/role-based-access-control/my-staff-configure
  15. Just had 145x Aruba 515s installed here, working well so far! Cloud control panel has its foibles though. Previously were happy Ruckus users.
  16. Couple of server changes: 1. Enabled "uncrafting" - so you can now uncraft all that diamond loot you have stashed 2. Switched chunk loading to "always" rather than "online" so it'll work even when offline. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR MOB SPAWNERS RUNNING AND MAKE ME DO EXTRA WORK TIDYING UP!!
  17. We're a small MAT of 6 schools - most of those small (150 or fewer children). The size of the school doesn't overly change the needs of an MIS, so a case study based on this Trust is pretty useful for other similarly small Trusts. Also, hyperbole regarding using spreadsheet is kinda OTT. The DfE's own stats show you aren't really truthful there - the number of schools not using one of the top 10 MIS's is so small that it rounds to 0%.
  18. We've been with Exa for about 7ish years now for our schools. Very happy with them. However, we buy bare connections - we don't currently buy any of their filtering/firewalling stuff, so can't give any experience with that.
  19. Is caching much use these days when the majority of sites are served via HTTPS?
  20. Pack updated to 1.6.0
  21. Please can someone advise regarding 802.11x settings in Windows, set by GPO? I have an issue where a most laptops aren't reauthenticating as the user account once logged in. It stays authenticated as the computer account. How do I get it so that Windows has network access at login via that wireless network, but once the user signs in, it reauthenticates as the user?
  22. I've identified an issue with the whitelisting process - it wasn't running properly. I have now fixed this, so whitelisting should once again work as expected.
  23. Server pack updated to 1.5.0.
  24. Sorry @m_stain, I didn't see this. I'll take a look and figure out what's going wrong for you!
  25. Server updated to pack version 1.4.0
