to find out his IP simply turn on IP logging on your forum. to find out who owns the IP address (hopefully his isp and not a proxy) an NIC lookup should help. Assuming they've not marked their info as private of course. After that, you'll be able to contact the ISP however you can. Be sure to tell them the exact date + time that they were on and what the IP address was.

In a lot of schools the catering company is independant of the school itself (it has its own budget etc) and is hired under contract by the school. For me PC World are hit and miss. Sometimes you can get a good deal but you really have to search around. I've walked into a store before and come out with nothing but the firm belief that I have more knowledge about computers than all of their staff combined. I'm sure they have some computer literate people working for them somewhere...

I am amused at the quote on the pay. They think that we earn a lot? A shame that it is not really the truth (except for IT areas outside of education). Funny how IT bods in education earn less for having the same skills as an IT bod outside education!

Are you sure about the fact that you're still covered under your previous contract? I'm not a lawyer but one of the things I've heard in the past is that if you accept the salary each month then effectively you're accpeting the contract (unless you've explicitly rejected it) Unless he signs it, he hasn't agreed to it so legally he is not bound by the new contract(s). If he has new contracts shoved under his nose he can refuse to sign them. The employer has a choice to either continue with the old contract or make him redundant. Afterall if what you said above is legal then this situation would happen everywhere: Month 1) HI! Welcome to our company, you'll be earning 40k p/a and earning generous benefits. Month 2) We have a new contract for you, you'll now be earning 10k p/a and we cut the benefits. Have a nice day. P.S. No need for you to sign it, we're already docking your pay by 30k. If that is legal then I'll be absolutely flabberghasted.

Our student teachers have staff access. 'Staff' don't have administrative access (changing of student passwords for example we consider administrative). MP3's are strictly outlawed on our systems unless it was produced in-house (rare). We can usually tell by filename, and if not a quick listen determines what the mp3 content is. If we deem it as illegal we will delete it without hesistation.

because I thought it was extremely unfair. Because rolling out 50 pc's in the space of 3 days, while providing almost constant support for the computer illiterate while trying to dodge cold callers clearly involves all of that. Yeah that guy is a jerk. If he can make outrageous assumptions then so can I! He needs to get his fat ass off the computer, stop wasting time reading/trolling the register and GET A JOB! =D

I'm actually sad and happy at the same time that our year 11's have gone. There were some really cool kids in Yr 11 who I had some amusing conversations with, but also there were some proper troublemakers too.

We call our servers after their function. Although my home network is made up of safari animals. PC's with names like zebra and giraffe...

I have nothing to say about any slanderous or libellous commenters if they were truely unfounded comments (afterall who would want such an injustice upon them, the company seems fully justified to complain in this case). Any company that threatens to sue a free online service seems a bit unscrupulous to me. I hope it was merely a complaint about an individual on the forum and not a legal threat to the forum. If the comments were pretty well justified and the company complains they should use the criticism to improve their product/service and not threaten a free community with legal action (in this case I consider the company simply as bullies). I seriously hope that it was the former and not the latter as I hold a dim view of anyone who wishes to sue people who provide a service to others for free.

We're running almost the same setup on 2 people. New suites and a VR suite to be built by the government for next year too. Still only 2 of us. Fun times.
