It IS legal to stream over the Internet (many others do it legally, such as http://www.di.fm ) however, you MUST have the relevant licenses to do so. In the UK you will need to look up the MCPS and find the relevant broadcast license that you need to do this.

Indeed, I've tried most of what was mentioned in my original thread and it has made little difference. Switching PC completely didn't have much of a dramatic effect at all, although I have observed that the disalignment varies over time. Currently it's out even when well calibrated, but not as severe. Very strange!

Smart all the way. We have one promethean and it does seem good (I've not used it enough to pass judgement on it), but some of our staff are actually using the smarts properly (!) and they love it. Hitachi -- no way in hell. These things are quite unreliable and we're forever getting support calls because 'they dont work' when the pen is OUT OF BATTERY!!! (ewww), plus the software is leagues behind that of Smart. The fact that you don't NEED pens on a smartboard is a huuuuuge plus. If kids are not being supervised with a live board then thats the problem of whoever isn't supervising them.

Legally: No. Reality: Yes. If you're going to use it for your own personal use, nobody is really going to know, and no company is going to come banging on your door to drag you off to court. That said, if you start selling/sharing your copies off to others you'll get shot if caught. Selling the original and keeping the copy is obviously not legal either. Basically UK law states that you absolutely cannot make copies at all, but people do it anyway. As for you: I would just make the copies. If its your own legally bought CD and you're the only one listening and just want to extend their lifespan then I can't see why that would be a problem, and nobody is really going to kick your ass for doing so. On a similar note: Copying CD's to Mp3 players is equally illegal, yet funny how there's such a market for such products and people still use them (ALSO funny that the music industry are beating up these Internet download sites but mostly leaving mp3 players/iPods etc alone!).

Actually SCRAP what I just said earlier. I'm looking for another job. Senior Management have just proven to me that they are a bunch of liars. My boss is going to be most upset when he returns from his holiday too. Their latest decision is irrational and crazy and will make life difficult for virtually everyone, staff and student alike, and talking to them is like talking to a brick wall.

in the summer we went around each and every network socket in the school to figure out where it went to. We labelled them like so: 1/2/5 The first number being a cabinet number (a list we maintain), The second being the patch panel in the cabinet. The third being the socket number on the patch panel. It's well worth going around every point and testing them in the long run we found. We discovered some of the sockets wired by third parties to actually have pins out!! We had to redo some of them

Will do. Only a few months. It's mounted to the ceiling, not straight on (kids would be bumping their heads otherwise), but it's reasonable. Same height as other rooms, and this issue never used to exist before. It's keystoned rather well, seems pretty well aligned with the board. I set it to the finest (20) as part of my usual install routine. I've discovered from experience that 9 or 4 tend to achieve less accurate results, and these guys are zealots for accuracy. I'll try as many of the suggestions above that I am able to while the NM is out and report my findings back here! Thanks for the advice!

Not entirely sure which forum I should really be dumping this topic in... buuuuut HEEEELP! Got a teacher here who whinges almost every day about his interactive whiteboard (he's officially the schools biggest moaner!) Anyway.... this time he does have something to moan about! His interactive whiteboard (SMART) has trouble calibrating. In the mornings he declares that it is knocked well out of line (and sometimes during the course of the day). At first I suspected a student may have been playing a prank on him when he had his back turned, but now I'm not so sure. I managed to catch him when his board was knocked out of line and attempted to recalibrate myself.... and I discovered that it actually refused to calibrate properly! Check the attached image. Those lines were drawn using a straight edge as a guide, notice how they're significantly wobbly on the far left / right side near the bottom. Admittedly this is better than it was, the lines were almost an entire square out of line before calibration, but its still not spot on (even after several failed attempts at calibrating). This guy is a maths teacher too, so it causes him hell in lessons where precision is required (such as coordinates and the like). Anyone had a problem like this before? Anyone figured out how to solve it? Should I be going back to the manufacturer?
