With Fiber its a game of elimination. You will probably find they are both trying to send the data down the same side of the cable. You can use a phone camera to check which side the data is being sent through (most fibre leads are labled with an A and B cable). I'm guessing your using LC connectors into the switches as most HP's use LC SFP Modules (unsure on Cisco). This diagram shows what I think might be going wrong and what you may need to do. It might require you to unclip the leads and swap the a and B sides over and clip them back again.

You need to look in your DNS and remove the wrong IP. On your cluster network interface you need to remove DNS Servers I believe (never used MS clustering so not sure).

I would also recommend a HP5406zl (or 5412zl). Which is highly expandable. I used to have one at my last place. I got HP5406zl model with the 2 modules pre installed giving 44 copper and 4 SFP and then got 2 additional SFP modules giving an additional 48 SFP (As I used to have 40 edge switches on 1gb links). I then got an additional 24 port copper about a year later when i needed more space. Whole thing cost less then 12k. I bought a second on just before I left for the second server room (which was to replicate with the first) but never quite installed it. They also have the ability to take 10gb modules if required. I have also used some of the 8212's at a large client on mine and they are very similar to the 5406 range.

I used to use Fog which was zero touch deploy. Build an image and upload to fog server. As long as the machines r set to pxe boot. The fog agent will restart the machine and install to the image selected from the Fog server. Join to ad etc etc

Does sound like a dns issue - I would setup the servers to use googles dns servers to forward out to 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4

Once you have it installed not long at all. The time spent installing is minimal but tweaking/customizing to how you would like it takes a little bit of time. Which TBH any system would require. By tweaking I mean customizing the auto-reply etc.

No You can setup to collect mail from Exchange via IMAP using Fetchmail. I used it like that at my last place.

Yes you will need both partitions. I think with Ghost you need to take "Whole disk Image" or something similar which takes a copy of the HDD as is rather then just the partition But I may be wrong as havn't used ghost for about 4 years Toby

TBH you should be able to make a little auto-it script the user can run which will pop up the hostname. should be fairly easy to make.
