  1. I am having this same problem. I've got a Starboard FX TRIO-77S, powered by USB but I've been able to get it connect twice so far but as soon as I log off the admin account and log on as a staff member it stops detecting it. The USB itself is being detected by the computer it just doesn't seem to register as the board. I have all the correct drivers and have tried both old and new software, does the same on both. Works once then stops. Did you ever find a solution for this?
  2. Indeed not. But sounds like that will not be the case. Thanks for all your help and I'll know where to come in the future for any other power adapter purchasing needs
  3. I thought that might have been the case but wasn't sure. Is there any chance that on boot up it might draw a little more then it needs and potentially damage that battery or if the machine is over worked (Say quite a few USB devices, DVD etc)? Really don't want to bugger up the bosses laptop as its quite nice.. and I'd look bad at my job
  4. Thats ok I know exactly what you ment Looked through a few sites from google with "PCGA-AC19v6" typed in and they are either 4.7A or 6.5A packs. Would you like some pepper with that shoe?
  5. Its a 19.5V with 3.9A... Input of 100-240V~1.3A (Which i'm guessing is the ampage leeway) 50-60hz. I'd appreciate the help. I always have trouble finding items like this online.
  6. Hi all. The boss wishes for a new power pack for his sony viao VGN-BZ31VT and I'm having difficulty finding a site that looks legit enough to buy from. I search both the laptop and the power pack ID vgp-ac19v38, and I get every other power pack bar the one I want. Any one know of any good sites to buy off for this kind of thing? Cheers.
  7. Hi guys, I've got aload of old machines, monitors, keyboards etc that need desposing of. I was just wondering if any one knows of any companies that will recycle them free of charge in the Kent area. Thanks
  8. Not sure. All I remember is pretty much everything is enabled and the things that aren't have no effect on booting. I'll double check when I'm back there tomorrow. If that is all enabled like I think it is, what would be the next step?
  9. Hi all, I am having problems with a computer and found the quickest and easiest way is just to rebuild it. I try and PXE Boot the machine to start the build process but the LAN boot doesn't seem to be working properly. I have checked the BIOs settings and it is set to boot from LAN and I cannot find any other options that might be preventing it from booting via LAN. Any ideas?
  10. All sorted. Shutdowns work fine and found how to set a start up time in the BIO's. Thanks guys. All help is much appreciated.
  11. Seems there is nothing wrong with the shut down process at all. It is indeed run through a shutdown script run through the secheduled tasks on the server which is all still in place and working. Still waiting to get access to the other machine to check the start up clock in the BIOs.
  12. Cheers for all your advice guys. I am at the second part of my job now (The secondary school) So will try out your suggestions tomorrow. I think I know where abouts I'm going with all this now. Big thanks.
  13. Thanks Simpson I shall have a further look into those. No I am on Classmaster. I have seen the ease of RM CC3 and kinda wish we had it here as I know how that works. Getting the hang of this Classmaster though. Unfortunatly it seems that some stuff on this system is done via Classmaster and other things done via AD. Its hard trying to peice it all together.
  14. Found the shutdown scripts on the server all of which seem to be ok.. as far as I can tell. As for startup scripts I can't find anything. I'm guessing this would mean that each on is done locally on the machine through the BIOs or something.
  15. I recently got employeed as a tech at a secondary school but in the mornings I get contracted to a Junior School. It is quite a big junior school and I look after the whole IT department by myself. Being quite new to this I feel I've been thrown in at the deep end so expect a few threads from me in the near future. Any ways I got a problem come in today about a staff members computer not switching itself on in the mornings like all the rest. Being busy this saves alot of time for them. On my way back to my office to inverstigate this the IT Manager (He only really signs things I order etc. He doesn't look after any of the infastructure) asked me to check the Shut down script for one of the rooms as he thinks the computers had been on all weekend. Now like I said being new to all this I have no idea where to even start looking for start up and shut down scripts or how to edit them etc. If some one could just chuck some basics my way I'm sure I could work my way from there. Thanks
  16. Cheers i'll give a reinstall a try.
  17. Ok so not sure if this is in the correct area or not as i'm not sure if this is a hardware or software problem. Either way we have a whiteboard in one of our class rooms that wont run Notebook. It runs every other Smartboard program just not the notebook. When trying to run Notebook an error occurs that i do not understand (See attached pic) If any one knows how to sort this problem i would be greatful as i know very little about whiteboards. Thanks Simon
  18. I have minimal experience. I have done bit of IT work in a couple of schools before as part of some work experience but other then that the only expeirence i have is what i do with my own and friends machines and from what i've learnt from working at PC world. I've been looking for all sectors of IT and applied for god knows how many jobs in the last 7 months but no luck. Tried contacts and ppl i know but havent worked out. I am looking into doing more work expereince just to try and get my experience up and maybe get my foot in the door but alot of schools have said to me they wont have any one working with them till the summer. I'm 22 and i'm not 100% on where i wanna be. All i know is i love to fix things escpially computers and so a techy job is something i'd like to do. Whether that will be in a school or in an office or contract i'm not sure yet. I am willing to start at the bottom and work my way up.
  19. I'm an enthusiastic individual looking for my first roll in the IT industry. I've been trying to get into the industry for the last 7 months without any luck. I've tried first line support, online support and standard school technician rolls. I've had my CV looked over many a time and have found there isnt much more that can be done with it. If any one knows of any up coming jobs in the Oxford area or has any tips that will allow me to progress into the IT industry I would be truely greatfull. S Cooper
