Hi All, I'm having problem in my last step of installing the licensing service for my current Windows Server 2008R2, it gives me an error message with Event ID 85, see the attached error message, Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-Licensing/Admin Source: Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-Licensing Date: 23/03/2010 4:01:12 PM Event ID: 85 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: User: NETWORK SERVICE Computer: TermServ01.domain.com Description: The Remote Desktop license server could not be registered as a service connection point in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS). Ensure that there is network connectivity between the license server and AD DS. To register the license server as a service connection point in AD DS, use Review Configuration in the RD Licensing Manager tool. Event Xml: 85 0 2 0 0 0x4000000000000000 9 Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-Licensing/Admin TermServ01.domain.com as the result of this SCP problem, this licensing server cannot publish the proper number of CAL domain wide, I've installed the license in my current Windows Server 2008 R2 (activated and joined to the domain too.) but then i still cannot register the SCP ? Can anyone help me here in registering this Windows Server 2008 R2, I've logged in using DOMAIN\Administrator account already but still I cannot do it. Cheers, AWT

no the only GPO that is active in my domain is for WSUS and proxy only. since this is just adhoc once off request, i guess i shouldn't apply the GPO from my DC. Cheers.

Hi All, I'm at the final stage of migrating an old demoted DC server, now I'm stuck in migrating/copying the roaming profiles of the users from the old win2k server (oldServer1) into the new win2k3 server (newServer1) there are lots of profiles which points into the old server: in the ProfilePath I'd like to move it into: I tried to copy paste from my DOMAIN\Administrator account but it is failed to copy ? i cannot even browse inside the directory of user1 until userN ? is there any fastest way to do the copy process rather than "taking ownership" for each of those directory one by one ? [hopefully by taking ownership the user will still be able to use their profile normally] Thanks.

ok so that's for the Windows Server license I'm sure about that, but how about with the Exchange Server itself ? I assume it is flexible enough so that it can be done as above (one license for many role).

I'm confused why Windows Update website (Manual link Update) shows i need to install: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x64 rather than jumping directly into: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for Windows XP x64, and Windows Server 2003 x64 (KB959209) so far I don't bother to apply the .NET Fx update until I realized that my current error can be fixed by installing:

I do strongly recommend going for Aging / Scavenging. It's just would rather you avoid a 1 hour refresh It will kill every dynamic record for every system with a static IP every time automatic scavenging runs. I normally advise things are set like this, the DHCP Lease is an example value only, not a suggestion (here for context): DHCP Lease: 16 days No-Refresh: 4 Days Refresh: 4 Days Automatic Scavenging: 1 Day The total record age is equal to 8 days here, which is half of the DHCP lease. That's because DHCP leases are extended by multiples of the Renewal Interval, and that is 50% of the DHCP lease. With those settings your static systems would be happy, plenty of time to update records, and your DHCP clients would be happy. All that remains is figuring out if you how more than one DHCP server in the mix. HTH

To All Experts, Can someone guide me in installing the .NET framework for Excahnge Server 2007 in my Windows Server 2003 x64 ? I haven't applied this update yet: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x64 Date last published: 10/16/2009 Download size: 131.7 MB too scared of things went wrong again ;-| because since I regularly use Windows update it broke my Autodiscover and POP3.exe and IMAP4.exe also cannot be executed (failed to start). but when I'm about to to download that 131 MB file above I couldn't find it, but instead MS Download website lead me to this: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for Windows XP x64, and Windows Server 2003 x64 (KB959209) URL: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A4F52459-DFE5-4BC3-8F7F-AA688879B1DC&displaylang=en#filelist in which I shall install smaller file for the update: 1. Install the update for the .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 - NDP20SP2-KB958481-x64.exe 2. Install the update for the .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 - NDP30SP2-KB958483-x64.exe 3. Install the update for the .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 - NDP35SP1-KB958484-x64.exe please let me know which one is the correct procedure to install it without breaking things apart in my production environment. Thanks, AWT Autodiscover error: "Your Out of Office settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable." Type : Error Date : 10/03/2010 Time : 3:11:29 PM Event : 1000 Source : .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting Category : None User : N/A Computer : ExcServer01 Description: Faulting application microsoft.exchange.pop3service.exe, version 8.1.263.0, stamp 47a985bd, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.2.3790.4480, stamp 49c51cdd, debug? 0, fault address 0x000000000000dd50. Hi All, I've setup my curent ESXi host with 2 pNIC for secure deployment of production VM like the attached screenshot: The reason is to make it easier to backup through the management network (Gigabit Ethernet connected to my LAN switch) while the actual VM is connected into DMZ-Network separate vSwitch and then the uplink is connected directly to the router for access to the world. I wonder if this is the typical secure deployment that everyone else is using ? Any kind of comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks Mr. McCoy, in my ESXi the Hyper threading is turned off. Cheers.
