That's what I was thinking. I've contacted the company and they don't have a projector available to do a demo. Has anyone actually got one of these projectors? If so, what do you think of them?

One of my schools wants to install a new AV solution in the school hall. We have all of our quotes in and one of the three companies has quoted for a Casio 2500 Lumens LED projector. The hall is a particularly bright one with high level windows all around. The other quotes have been for conventional 4000 lumens projectors. Is it just me or is 2500 lumens a bit lightweight?

Thanks for the reply. There is a few bits like the way office applications are presented, its not a necessity just someone once said it could be done but I cant see a way of doing it so was looking to see if anyone had the answer.

Hi all, I know you can setup a default domain profile by copying a local template user up the the "Default User" folder in Netlogon but is it possible to have multiple default user templates that are applied for different groups? Would like to have setup one default profile for when new pupils are created and one default profile for when teachers are created? I guess I could store two templates on the server and just move each one into the Netlogon folder when creating the users but would be nicer to do this if possible? Thanks

We have chicks arriving in the Nursery next week and the school would like to setup a live stream showing on fronter as they hatch. Has onyone done this and if so can it be done with a standard webcam? Thanks in advance!

Sorry should also have made it clearer I added all the pupils with the correct teachers fine from the CSV import but was asking if when the teachers log in they could only have access to their class from the drop down list instead of all - but this isnt really a problem just a thought. Also regards the default profile that can apply to all, I remember seeing this at the top of the pupil management screen at the begining but cant see it anymore, do I need to recreate it or is there a way of showing it again ? Thanks for taking the time to reply in such detail, I will have a go editing as suggested. Regards the second to last page that shows an ack slip and details on absence, I tried the instructions below: To get rid of the half page acknlowledgement slip, just go to 'Options', select 'Printing' and you will see a 6 'pages' on the right. The first one is the front page layout, the second is the main text and the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th ones are the optional 'back' pages. Select the pages that you don't want - in this case it would be the 3rd one (top right), with the pulldown to it's right select the page that has the big red 'X'. Do this for all the profiles that you don't want this page to appear on (the profiles selection box is just above the 'pages'). But the problem is I can delete it OK but would rather have added it to KS1 who currently dont have it. I dont seem to have the option to add it. I can add the KS1 and KS2 Results pages but the template for the ack slip/ absence details doesnt appear. When I look at the KS2 profiles, the page that has this slip is showing as a blank page in the printing details but again when I click to edit this to possibly cut and paste into KS1 the page is showing as having no text in it so its a bit confusing. Is there an option to log out once you have validated, only I have been testing the product on my laptop so was logged in as administrator. Once setup I then added a test teacher to log in and see what it looked like but would now like to log out again and relogin as administrator to make these changes but cant seem to log out? Ive been struggling with ReportPlus as well, went to a different school today who were sticking with Report Assist and had it all done in an hour. I must have spent 6 hours so far on ReportPlus and am far from done. I have also found it very hard to speak to anyone. Is anyone able to help with questions below: Does the File Export Save Pupil Files to Memory Stick save all pupils or just the one you are currently on? Is this the best way for teachers to save reports to memory stick as a backup? Once saved onto a memory stick how do they then import it onto a different computer if they want to work at home and school? How do you get rid of the half page acknowledgement slip and absentee details that appear at very end (before KS Results)- there for N, 3,4,5,6 not 1 and 2. I know you can edit pages under printing and can see the Keystage Results there but dont see this additional Absence/Ack Slip? How do you set up classes for individual teachers logons when you do a bulk csv create - if I create a user wont it copy up info for all teachers classes instead of just that teachers class? Can you use one machine for multiple teachers - how do they log out and back in as a different teacher? Thanks

The Head at one of my schools has ordered a new promethean board which is an ActivBoard 395 and wanted to use one of the existing projectors on it. All of the existing projectors are XGA native and look rubbish in widescreen. Has anyone put one of these monsters up and if you did, what projector did you use? Any ideas would be useful. I've just put a birdbox with wired webcam into one of my schools and to be honest its rubbish! Speaking to another school about it and they would quite like to put a webcam in their rabbit hutch and view it over the network. Any recommendations for a wireless (not sure how to deal with power though) or wired webcam that we can view over the network? Thanks in advance.

Sadly, I've already disabled all other boot devices other than the local hard drive and it still doesn't work. Will try the usb hub just in case but I'm clutching at straws.

Hi all, Has anyone used Storyphones before? Having an issue when the storyphone base unit is plugged into a pc via usb at boot up. If the Storyphones are plugged in the pc gets stuck at the post screen, remove it from the usb and it boots ok. I remember there being a similar issue with certain smartboards and laptops a few years back. I could tell the teachers to unplug the Storyphones before bootup but that may prove too much of a strain The other issue is that we have initiated an auto bootup for teacher pcs in the morning which, of course gets stuck if the Storyphones are plugged in. Any ideas? I wondered if I put a USB hub between the Storyphones and pc if it would help but I don't have one to hand (I'd have to order one )

Does anyone know how to get this setup using Server 2008? I followed the great instructions provided before for Server 2003 and it runs no problems but I cant see how to set the option in 2008 as its all different. I have created the Virtual site and dropped the files in to the folder but cant see where you now set the following permissions: "Tick the following permissions boxes; Read, Run Scripts, Write and Browse then click Next and Finish at the final screen." And how you do this part in 2008 IIS: "Select the Directory Security Tab then click the Edit… button under Authentication and access control." "Untick the Enable anonymous access box and then tick the Integrated Windows Authentication box. Click Ok. And then Ok again to save the changes to the PrintUsage properties." Thanks dimast

I've finished installing iTALC on an ICT Suite of 20 pcs and it does work really well with a few exceptions. When I try to logon the pcs from the master pc, it often takes a few attempts to do so, i.e. the first time I try it will bring the pcs out of the screensaver, the second time some will log on and the third time they all log on. Any ideas why this happens? Also been looking at the Execute tasks option and I can't seem to make that work at all, does anyone have any examples that they have used? One final question regarding logins - These pc's are all in a workgroup and they have a pupil login with no password (old RM Schoolshare type suite). Is iTALC not capable of performing remote login without a password? Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah we use local images as well and they work really well on desktops. Again the trouble we find with laptops is you build it and put all software and updates on, then take the image. Usually then the teacher will have it for a couple of months before problems arise, by which point if we restore the previous image it removes all the custom stuff they have installed inbetween which in fairness shouldnt be on there but trying telling them that when they are moaning wheres my SimCity game!

OK yeah that may be a good shout. What group do people put teachers in then, Domain Users or is there something slightly higher?

OK, they have local admin rights on our system so we find torrent software, itunes and other bits get installed. Im hoping to persuade them to have desktops this time but not holding my breath!

What do people think about having teachers use laptops as their main whiteboard PC. I seem to fin this causes a lot of problems as teachers will take them home and install all kinds of rubbish on them and then wonder why they are running so slow! Its also much harder to schedule updates, virus scans and general maintanence issues as the laptops are simply not there in the eveining. Do many of you use laptops for this or desktops?

Hi, did you ever resolve this issue? Having the same prob - it's ok with our 8 new pcs but not with the 12 old ones (blue fronted rm's). I can still view them fullscreen but not in thumbnail, says host unreachable.
