I read through at least 60% of the lib dem manifesto, and I actually liked a lot of their ideas, some are possibly a bit radical, others not radical enough, but that goes with any politics. My main problem with Conservative/Labour is they just play opposites. Whatever angle one takes, the other does the same thing but angular; it seems to be the opposite, but is actually the same thing anyway with a different spin. Time for a change IMO, Labour haven't done a BAD job, at least not any worse than anyone else would have done. But I don't like a lot of what the conservative want to do, and where I live is primarily Conservative, and has suffered a massive amount of stagnation over the years. Lib dem may not be perfect, but at least we'll see something different.

I also like the good old arguements of "I'm retired, your taxing me too much! How you going to pay off this debt?" "Raising taxes maam." "I'm retired, your taxing me too much! And what about the children! Somebody think of the children!" "Alright, but it'll cost you taxes." "Your taxing me too much!"

You'd be amazed at what people would do. I had the firebell go off once, and a child refused to leave a classroom, where he'd been left on his own ( ! ), because "The teacher said they could be there." There was an interesting debate afterwards, of wheither you would be allowed to physically extracate the idiot, or wheither you should leave them there, and just report it to the fire crews/register-taker at the time. It's the good ol' problem if your conciously leaving someone to (possibly) die, or getting sued for god knows how many violations for saving their life!

RM CC3 uses bucket loads of them. It has a tendancy of killing the disks, and they never behave after CC3 has killed it.

He now has to live with the consequences yes, but it doesn't mean Sky, or any other press company should be allowed to do these things. Freedom of the press should not be a license to destroy peoples work and personal lives. Might as well give them guns too...

How often in our daily routines do we think that the people we work with are idiots, have done something stupid etc? How would we like it if our personal discussions on them were publicised for all, especially the person in question could see?

If I were them, I'd be having words with Sky news over publishing recordings when they shouldn't have been recording... I'm not a big fan of the press, especially when they pull stunts like this, recording people after official interviews have finished. It's called having a personal opinion, we're all entitled to one, and entitled to not have them plastered over the internet.

I bought 3 toshiba L450's a couple months ago, and bought my wife one before Xmas. My only complaint as far as use in schools, is the lids on them have a LOT of space in them, resulting in the lids being a little flimsy. So chances of cracking the cases the way most teachers treat them is quite high. But the price and spec of the toshiba's otherwise is good. On the chip side, Core2Duo > AMD > Celeron is the order i'd base my choices on, and i'd happily spend 20-50 more on a C2D or AMD than one of their celerons.

I have a g/n wireless at home with all the trimmings, I have no problem streaming HD tv over it... I did have a gigabit cabled network, but the cable has gone faulty somewhere along the way

I tried reading the description as to what it is, but gave up very quickly due to the amount of pointless waffle in there repeating itself, and talking about it's own proprietary stuff it's got built in that NOONE except someone who has already got their product would know what it does. So rant over, what the hell is it?

google office works perfectly well, but in my experience Open Office will work a LOT better. I've found so many annoyances with google docs I refuse to use them. MS Office Live, I found annoying to get working, and wants to install 93 seperate things to get it to work last time I tried.

I don't like labour a whole lot, but I definately don't like Conservative, too many hair-brained ideas that will see me living in a cardboard box (instead of a disused toilet!) I'd love to vote lib dem, but also know it's rather pointless, as my local lib dem rep is unlikely to win anytime soon. My local mp is not lib dem, and has been in power for years, and unlikely to lose. I also have the problem that my local MP has little/no power over the area, since MP's from the bigger nearby town overrule pretty much anything that would benefit us, in favour of benefitting them instead.

dual monitor definately. It is especially useful if you access servers or RDP into machines, monitor cctv/video stream etc. Also I find it easier to distinguish 2 pages when on different screens, than both windows on one screen, eg when copying info from a website to a document etc. You end up with a bigger footprint with the dual monitors, and makes window sizing a lot easier. I use a 23" and a 19" at home, plan to upgrade to a pair of 24". Right now I am stuck with a 15" at work, but will this week with new budget and all, be buying 1 or 2 24" monitors for the office. Why so big? drop size to a 22/23" they are basically the same size, about £10 difference. Drop much lower, the prices drop considerably, but so do the resolutions, and the sizes. Any bigger is too expensive.

I dunno, I've been playing eve-online for a number of years, and I occasionally meet people in real life and think "Really wish I could Pod this :censored:". I stick by we learn from experience, and it's better that people experience things for themselves, and make their own decisions on right/wrong, acceptable and not, than shield them from anything/everything we deem 'too mature' for them. Tell a person "Don't press the red button" seal it in a protective case with lots of tape seals on, they'll think for ages what does the button do, consider ways they can press the button covertly, and usually they'll go press the red button and see what happens. Leave a person with a red button and a warning label, when it gives them the shock, they are unlikely to press it again. It doesn't mean they should experience everything from any age, as causing harm is a bad thing, but if they are old enough to experience it and understand it, they need to learn about it.

1st Period you have Mc-Maths, followed by a double whopper science, and a Dunkin'-Drama lesson. After lunch (referred to as "HappyMeal-Time") is Quarter-pounder PE. I have thought for a while that private sponsorship of schools would not be a bad thing entirely for the education system, but private schools publically funded is just asking for trouble.

So, child is tricked, coersed or just plain had a lala-brain-fart moment and does something stupid on the internet, and parents are shocked that their children fell pray to it. On the reverse, child is sensible enough to ignore the stupidity, and parents are shocked that the child is desensitized to the world! So basically children should be not too smart, not too dumb, just the way parents want them. The only way any of us learn, is to experience things and decide and make decisions accordingly. When a negative experience happens, people need to be supported in learning from it, Not wrapped up in warm blankets and cuddled till the "Badness" goes away. And the less said by, and about the daily mail the better. They all too often go by the rules of "Any publicity is good publicity."

Well that's all well and good.... But the thursday before Easter Friday, there was a problem provider-end with the connection to every single school (and I believe some Local Council) sites in the entire town; All the lines are managed by an external company. In 4-5 years of working, I've never seen a hardware failure of the broadband lines, every outage I've had has been 20-30 minutes, up to 1 1/2 days and been related to a cock up with the company the provides the lines, and 95% of these issues have been across the entire town, based in the exchange, or the data centre. You could string up 100 lines between 2 places, and they could be sent via different towns, hell you could send one of them via Poland and back. But if they are all managed by a single company, and the same exchanges, it's all pointless anyway.

Eve used to be all about "I'm a Pirate" or "I'm a miner" etc. But honestly I don't think you can play eve that way anymore without getting utterly bored of it all. Been playing eve, actively for 4 1/2 years, now a high-rank member of the biggest bunch of clowns in the game I live in 0.0, so I can make 60m an hour without trying, closer to 120m an hour if I go all pimped out. If I wasn't too busy with RL atm, I tend to pvp a fair bit, roams, pos bashing, the works. Also do T2 invention, Battleship production, trading, even a spot of mining if I need a specific resource.

Unfortunately it's rather hard to filter a jet engine... they work by pumping air in the front, and throwing it out the back... If you put a filter over them that can filter granules of metal and rock that are not even 1mm across, it tends to restrict the airflow, which causes airplanes to rarely make it into the air, and more likely to fall out should they make it up there If you want an extreme (but possibly cool) way of looking at what would happen, get some iron filings, maybe some ground up stone/granite, and stick it in a blender till the blender gives up.... Maybe mix in some water too (since it's high altitude, full of clouds, and that volcano blew up a glacier ) and see what happens when you mix rock dust, metal granules, rapid changes in temperature, and water

Their OS's are useable, and probably a little more userfriendly, but Horribly restrictive, and most of their products are, frankly, overpriced. Fix that, and remove the miscelaneous object that I believe they have stuck where the sun does not infact shine in regards to allowing access to pretty much anything, and I would struggle to beat apple in a lot of ways. Until then, * > Apple.

I'm due an upgrade from my Iphone 3g about now, and frankly I find it hard to find one that matches it beats it. It's horrible because it's made by apple; It's email client is buggy and doesn't work with NTL/Virgin, or Hotmail, It crashed every time i've ever run an update on it, the sync almost always crashes, taking 3-4 hours typically with all the reboots I have to do to get it work. Plus no flash support, no java support, no bluetooth that's actually useable, no file storage, bad battery life... I could go on a bit, but it'd come out like a random ranting. The one thing I have to big up, is the app store. For Free, I have facebook, Calculators, unit conversions, game related apps (I play eve-online, so use one of their mini apps for ingame tracking), irc client, a vnc client, Mobile version of Photoshop, traffic advisory sponsored by the Highways authority, Skype, shazam.... Never paid for a single app. It's got a lot of rubbish on there, most of which is related to age-restricted-to-death app-games, or pointless drivel that lasts about 9 minutes before your bored or frustrated with it. But those few priceless apps, I want to see and be sure they are all available for any other phone I buy. I've been eying up the Blackberry storm 2 and the HTC's for a while, I just haven't seen that their app store has everything I want on it, yet.

I shall be working late tonight.... IN fact so late, I think most of the staff will have gone.... By the time they return in the morning, the entire staffroom will have reversed itself...

There is a lovely lady at a company called Insight UK ( Deals at Insight UK for public site) who my account manager put me in touch with who seems to know MS licensing inside and out. I looked at the Dell website while speccing up a server, and the Dell costs on CAL licenses was about £23 per computer, whereas I am being quoted between £1 and £3.20 per computer... Obviously prices will vary from site to site, and seller to seller, but I've been seeing about the £10 mark per PC for windows, and about £12 for office, and the costs on the Select agreement are about about 2.3 times the cost of the Schools Agreement (aka, the cost of buying your licenses outright is 2.3 years equivalent to the School's agreement). So 10,000 is just a TAD over price!
