  1. Or... if you are extremelly lazy you can use a program like Astra 32 from here ASTRA32 - Advanced System Information Tool - Free Download and run it from a USB key and it will tell you the names of your missing drivers amongst other things.
  2. Unfortunately we use Lotus Notes on site here and one of the users is having a problem where she doesnt get a pop up when e-mails are recieved. I've enabled all the tick boxes in the preferences but it refuses to work. Any ideas? i'm not sure if the problem is on the local machine or elsewhere.
  3. I need a 50 user license for office. It either needs to be 2003 or 2007 which ever is cheaper and has to include: Word Excel Powerpoint Access Just looking for a rough price at the moment so i can go back to my manager with an estimate.
  4. Haha unless your name is a certain someone beginning with D and then you charge £70 for a PSU install because he was replacing a "faulty PSU" so its a fixed price repair -.- and then charges the next person £30 because its an upgrade!
  5. Wouldn't it be easier to just open the file click, save as and then save it as the format you want it to be... edit: posted it a second to late looks like the OP figured it out.
  6. This black screen thing was an error with explorer.exe as far as i can remember it will just sit there on a black screen for eternity. Replacing the explorer.exe has fixed the issue in the past.
  7. You want to be careful playing it out of speakers it can be considered illegal because you don't have a license to public broadcast.
  8. I had to use that software to make a presentation as part of an interview i recently had at a school. It is indeed Wink.
  9. http://andrewlee.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/lightsaber.jpg This should do the trick.
  10. Yeah that's a good point has anyone else noticed the recent increase in Dr. Pepper being drank in South Park? ^^
  11. I need to have a TV! Playing my PC games on a screen smaller than 42" would make the world implode

    Bootmgr corrupt

Usually problems like this occur because the memory has become faulty. Download the ultimate boot CD from here... Ultimate Boot CD - Overview and run the latest version of Memtest on it to test it.
  14. MacDailyNews Note: Apple's Software License Agreement for Mac OS X explicitly states: This License allows you to install, use and run one (1) copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-labeled computer at a time. You agree not to install, use or run the Apple Software on any non-Apple-labeled computer, or to enable others to do so. taken from MacDailyNews - It's legal to run Mac OS X on non-Apple branded PCs with EFI-X dongle? I have actually managed to get a copy of Mac OSX running on an old Toshiba L20 laptop but according to Apples EULA this isnt best practice! I presume that also goes for a virtual environment on a non-apple machine.
  15. Could you imagine trying to write 300 movie names on the disk with a CD pen! You would need a small note pad to accompany each disk ^^
  16. On the graphics side of thing if its solely used for that sort of thing i'd look at Nvidias Quadro range.
  17. By the description it sounds like it could be Malware... Might be worth giving Malwarebytes.org a go i find this really good and might remove the problem.

    Is it just me?

I'd have to agree with this. I've used Vista for a while now and i really don't see what everyone is moaning about. Runs fantastically on my hardware and my games looks really nice in DX10. I can see on a full network scale that this might be an issue being that most places dont have up to date machines but i believe that windows 7 has combated most of these issues.
  19. smss.exe - smss - Process Information Tells you a little bit about it. SMSS.exe is actually a legitimate process on the most part.

    BCS

I've just been looking through the BCS website, I've been working in IT for nearly 2 years now. Did a year as a tech at PC world (yes i know don't judge me!) and now i work at a foundry doing their IT mostly end user stuff at the moment with a bit of networking. After looking at the BCS website it says i can attain an Associate level. I was just wondering what the benefits of it are?
  21. I've always found it the other way around i've had my samsung 1TB for a while now and no issues. Where as all the WD drives i've owned something has gone wrong, i've only got one WD left in my PC now and that is slowly dieing. I also find them to be quite noisy as far as drives go.
  22. Onboard sound can still be HD. Would still be worth finding the latest drivers and installing them.
  23. you guys should think yourself lucky! http://www.speedtest.net/result/471899546.png

I get exactly the same error here.
