Our IWB software does it - it's built into Smart Board software. Not sure about Promethian and others, but I'd imagine they're much the same...

Nonsense - due to global warming we don't get ice on our cars now - we get permafrost! The end is nigh! The polar ice caps will get... colder...
-
Certainly not!! And I've never kicked over a bucket of fluorescent yellow paint on the stairs outside of the main school building either...
-
I don't. I like them crunchy and exactly the way McVities intended...

I think the idea is that when they come into a classroom the computers *should* be logged off and sitting on the screensaver. The idea is to raise awareness about printing allegedly for the environment, but more realistically for the school budget!! I have my doubts whether it will work, but it costs nothing to find out!!
-
Good point!! I think she does mean the screensaver this time though - the background is set by us already and no-one gets to change it. Caused an upcry at first, but people are used to it now...
-
Has anyone ever done this? Maybe its obvious, but I've never even considered it - a teacher wants one made up for the classroom machines to remind students not to print unless they have to!! Are animated screensavers just flash files or what?

I used a similar one on HowToForge.com. Doesn't seem to be much different, I can't work out whether I've screwed something up so that it does get wbinfo but can't log in with a domain account, or whether there's another step that everyone forgets to mention!!
-
Ok, I have followed a guide and joined a domain with Smaba and Winbind - all worked perfectly (anyone whos interested let me know if you want a copy of the guide I followed). Now my troubles continue... When I have joined a windows domain with likewise, I have immediately been able to log in as a domain user i.e: DOMAIN\Tyiell. Wierdly though, this time with Samba and Winbind I cannot. I get all the correct responses from the wbinfo -t/-u/-g commands, nad the machine has appeared in AD no problem, but when I try to log in with a domain account, I'm given "Autentication Failure". I can't su to my domain account in terminal either. Anyone know what this might be? Many thanks!

Hi all, Right, I can use Likewise to join a domain no problem, but I'd like to use Samba so I can mount windows server shares - so for example my N: drive, on windows I'd just map \\server\myDir and the jobs done. So if it's samba, I figure Winbind is the answer. I have a few guides for doing this and indeed have done it in the past with no problems, but it all seems geared to servers with static ips. This is a client on dhcp - I need is as part of a proof that a *nix distro such as Ubuntu could be a viable alternative to the inaffordable (at least with our budget!) Windows 7. It's early days so if no-one has a guide or some notes I can pinch, I'll just keep tinkering and maybe post my problems! Thanks in advance

Or worse: ... Me: "Yeah sure it's [email protected]" Potential Employer: "Oh cool, did you want to join my farming game or lend me a tommy gun in Mafia Wars? We're a modern company after all!!" Me: "No - and suddenly the dole queue seems an attractive concept. Byeee!"

Ah, so doing this sort of thing is illegal and inappropriate is it? Oooh, I just figured they deserved it coz they left it there to be seen. Gulp... Kidding (obviously) - sickening what people will try to pull on the unsuspecting...

Hmm. They must have changed the system then - I went to a primary schhol from ages 5-8, middle school from ages 8-11, secondary 11-16... If primary schools now cover from 5-11 then that changes things, sex education was taught to me in Middle School...
-
Have primary school kids changed since I was one of them?? I had zero interest in sex or porn when I was 6...!!! :S

Fridge, Coffee Machine, Kettle and Microwave. We do have a toaster too, but it is a Shaun the Sheep toaster that "baaas" when the toast is done and it astonishingly load and annoying. Toast is a last resort in our office!!

Here's one: "If they're for students or teachers - don't do it!!" Sorry to be facetious, I couldn't resist

I have my notes typed up for doing this exact thing: if you still need help, pm me an email address and I'll happily forward them on... -
Hi Gary, Sure, I'll get her to put a sample together for you. PM me your email address and I'll get it sent over next week. It's not exactly a solution to the problem discussed here though, when all is said and done it is just a big spreadsheet. We basically create a series of large marksheets with if-then-else formulas to do some conditional formatting. Then we export it to excel and she organises in various sheets and runs formulas on them to pull out percentages, etc.

Thanks for your advice guys, I got called away from it this afternoon, but I'll get to play with it tomorrow - I'll let you know how I wind up breaking it!!
