  1. Hi We run Office 2003 and 2007 on the same network. It would be great to just have one icon and linked to a script that automatically opens Word 2003 if it exists on the harddrive or goes on and opens Word 2007 if that exists instead. Is anyone out there good at VB who could write something nice and neat? :-) Thanks J.
  2. Hi Just got rid of Winsuite aka Winsick! Sorted out Folder Redirection which works fine, but the My Docs and My Computer icons will not appear. The other icons e.g. Recycle Bin are set not to appear and I've told the Group Policy not to delete/hide all the icons but just certain ones. Any ideas?
  3. Hi Here is a good one. I have Office 2003 and 2007 on the same network. We have Office 2003 on some machines and 2007 in the ICT suite - before anyone asks, yes the kids find it easier and it has raised grades! I'd like to put shortcuts on the student desktops that would open Office 2003 if installed or go to Office 2007. I am no scripting expert, but could easily spot what needs changing. Has anyone done or is able to do this? cheers James
  4. Hi Does anyone know how to set a background image to a personal toolbar? thanks J.
  5. Hi Ben bginfo looks good but I also want to provide a logon box for our VLE on the desktop and also have a message box for notices as well. I can add this in, but bginfo wont display these additional bits and pieces. J.
  6. Hi Ben I'd have no idea how to write this, I am not an ASP specialist I am OK altering the code and displaying it using Dreamweaver, but I don't know how to call up these details! If LDAP commands are used and bits and pieces need to be changed to suite our network that will be no problem either. cheers J.
  7. Hi I am looking at getting rid of Winsick (aka Winsuite) once and for all. I'd like to display the User details on the screen using Active Desktop. Does anyone have an ASP script I can modify that will do this? Kind regards James
  8. Hi I know - but there is the issue that some scammers use these sites to lure kids into games and then viruses and also child exploitation. (there that term doesn't flag up Securus or such like!) Afraid I always look at the most devious motives as well!
  9. My ICT Network Manager had an interesting and yet disturbing phone call today. It was from a company claiming that they’ve just refused someone who had tried to buy up domain names using the schools’ name. They said that they were refusing the request. However, at no time did they push or try to sell the domain names to us. So it leaves us in a quandary: - Is this some sort of a scam and other schools have been targeted? - Is there a company or individual out there trying to use domain names with school names in to lure people (and children) into their sites - Is someone trying to deflame our school? - Is it something worse? I just wondered if anyone else has had similar phone calls?
