Dear Tech Support , Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewellery applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0 . In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as * Romance 9.5 and * Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs , such as * NHL 5.0, * NFL 3.0 and * Golf Clubs 4.1 Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2. 6 simply crashes the system. * Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail. What can I do? Signed, Desperate. DEAR DESPERATE , First, keep in mind, * Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while * Husband 1.0 is an operating system. Please enter command: ithoughtyoulovedme.html and try to download Tears 6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. * If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5. However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5 , Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1 . * Please note that Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download the Farting and Snoring Loudly Beta. Whatever you do, D0 NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.) In addition, please do not attempt to re - install the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0 . In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend: * Cooking 3.0 and * Hot Lingerie 7.7. Good Luck! Tech Support

My car don't have fog lights ......oh wait a pointless light at the back that I can switch on and off to annoy people driving up my backside

Hi I have disabled the ImageSlide Show for now as it clearly does not want to behave. I think what I will do is switch to another template (axe_rescheek_orange) which is very similar and just add our custom banners etc. I will then re-upload the template I am currently using (axe_rescheek_red) and see if that sorts it.

Hi No unfortunately I did not create a backup (school boy error I know ) ) This is really annoying me now, when I try and edit the CSS files it keeps going to unwriteable after I edit the template.css file and I have to KEEP changing the bloody permissions everytime. This Joomla is great when its working but a right pain in the neck when it falls over.

Hi No I have not installed any new mod/com plugins, I suspect it might be something to do with the template as I remember trying to alter the banner a few weeks ago but could not get it to do what I wanted and gave up! Since then it has looked all mangled in FF/GC. Any ideas? I will update the site soon (this week if I get round to it). regards firefox_2006

Hi, Our school website is not displaying properly in either FF or Google Chrome, however it does display properly in IE (see images below), anyone know why? I am using version 1.5.9 and Image Slide Show 1.5 for the scrolling image banner that is annoying aligned to the right in FF. I have tried deleting it, downloading it and re-installing Image Slide Show but as you can see its still messed up! Regards firefox_2006

All Well what can I say whilst Andy Murray was doing his best to impersonate Tim Henman, our school was suffering the blow of torrential rain. This has mean't our (IT Technicians) office being placed out-of-bounds due to the carpet being completely sodden. Also a lot of kit has been damaged, potentially 3 brand new Dell 360 Optiplex PC's (as they were left on the floor in our store room). In total 7 rooms are out of use and I am currently working out of a room the size of a broom cupboard. Trouble is this is not exactly the first of third time the school has been affected by torrential rain. Great start to the week! Oh well things can only get better

No it does not, just still gives you a blank IE window, bit frustrating this one, wish I could roll out Firefox or Google Chrome as they are better browsers.

Hi I have a problem with IE7 not displaying the contents of any webpage (including Google) on random machines. Basically what happens is you double click on the IE icon on the desktop and the window opens but nothing displays, just an empty white space where the webpage content should be (no address in the address bar either). The only way I can fix it is by un-installing IE and re-installing it again via control panel > add remove programs > add/remove windows components. Is anyone experiencing this particular problem, if so what is causing it? Thanks firefox_2006

Setting up projector so freeview channels display
firefox_2006 replied to firefox_2006's topic in How do you do....it?
errr ITV1 I think, will give that site ago thanks for your replies -
Hi all, I have been asked by the assistant head to setup the short throw projector in our school hall so that people can watch the England game next Wednesday. At the minute the projector can display from a laptop via VGA and a splitter (dual display), what I am having difficulty with is getting it to display the freeview channels as this is done via scart connection. There is a composite port beneath the VGA one on the wall and I have tried a compatible cable with no success. The only way I can see it being done is via an ariel out lead from the freeview box to one of those USB DVT dongle thingies to a laptop and dual displaying it. Anyone have any ideas? regards firefox_2006

Hello I am using the axe_rescheek_red template to redesign our school website. I have created a "parents" section on the site with a Parents sub-menu on the right hand side. Basically what I am trying to do is create links in this sub menu to policies and other documents, but I cannot get it to work. The default link editor has no "browse" function for me to be able to browse to the file I want to link to. My question is how the bloody hell do you do it? link to site: www.joomla.netherstowe.com firefox_2006

Hi all Thanks for the response, which package should i use to install Joomla? XAMPP, WAMP? I get confused lol Should I also install it on one of our servers or am i ok to install it on a windows xp pc? Is there an idiots guide to this program. I have looked at many sites made in this Joomla package and they do look quite professional, more so than my current attempt in dreamweaver using tables. Do you need strong CSS knowledge also? @ fragglepete: I take it you did your banners and logos etc in an external package? I quite like the flash image on the front page, I have a similar affect going on myself using a program called Swish Minimax2. right time to get experimenting....

Hello I have been asked by the powers that be upstairs (not GOD, but they sure act like it ) to redesign our school website. We recently purchased Adobe Creative Studio 3 which includes dreamweaver, flash etc. Only problem is my web design skills are fairly atrocious at best. We (me and my boss) tried to recommend that it would be quicker and easier if someone outside did it, but it seems they are insisting that it be done in house, probably to save money. I have read that a package called "Joomla" can be used for this as it is a type of CMS. Question is how easy is it to setup? are there any templates that can be used? I have started to create a few simple html pages with some flash buttons as navigation but it is all very basic. I am basically having to learn dreamweaver and flash as I go along to try and piece something tangible together. Trouble is nothing I produce will ever look as professional as if someone who knows what they are doing, were actually doing it. Add together the general lack of direction from the powers that be and im really stumped Anybody got any ideas? suggestions?

Hi I need help connecting our plasma screen in the school hall so that i can run a powerpoint through a laptop. There is a splitter box in the cabinet and as far as i can tell, everything is as it should be, but I cant get the laptop to display on the two plasma's in the hall. The "source" should be from the laptop and the "outputs" should be the plasma's correct? I think staff want some sort of low budget digital signage solution, rather than the current one (freeview box and TMF). I will try a different splitter box, but as I say I cant get any signal to display on the plasma's at all. Has anyone else done this? Am I missing something REALLY obvious lol thanks firefox_2006

Hi there, There is a book which you can buy from Amazon I think which details the types of questions included within the test. I did my PGCE in 2006 and constantly failed the maths one, and have never passed it. It was always the mental arithmetic bit at the start that I lost marks on. Other than that all I can suggest is to keep trying. As far as I am aware it will necessarily stop her from progressing as I still managed to secure a post at a college without full QTS, but I was paid under "instructor" or something like that. Hope she gets it firefox_2006

Hi all I use to love games like this, anybody know when it may come out on PS3 or what the minimum spec for pc for this game, as mine is over 5 years old

Hi all, Thought you should all be aware of the above website that you might like to filter. Explanation below: "1Cup1Coffee.com is a website designed for playing games in school or at work. Once you choose a screen resolution cup, you will be taken to what looks like a Windows XP folder. In the folder, there are word documents and powerpoint files which are games in disguise. When you click on one of the files, that game will load and you will be able to play once it is done loading. If a teacher/co-worker/boss walks by, simply press backspace and the game will exit back to the "Work Folder." firefox_2006

Hi all, I have a problem with Outlook 2003 not displaying zip files in the insert file dialog on an admin machine. When the user tries to attach a file using the paper clip, the dialog box that appears will not show any of her compressed zip files/folders to be able to attach them. I realise that you can simply click and drag the zip folder into the Outlook message window, but there must be a way of making zip files show using the paper clip method. Anyone have any ideas? regards firefox_2006

Hi This can be a problem at our school, our head of drama does not have a teaching room and alternates between teaching drama in the ICT room outside our office (great!) and the drama/lecture theatre. How he manages to be in two places at once is beyond me. I have had instances where new/supply teachers send the most obviously devious of kids down to our ICT room to do "coursework", when they land up on games/hotmail. I go down to the Head of IT's room at lunch and he has a class full on games, (his idea) and if they come down to our room we just reject them. Its the same old thing though, if its not enforced across the board then what is the point? Like many rules are just neglected by some teachers. SMT/Head needs to enforce the rules more.

HELP! - Printers showing Offline on network
firefox_2006 replied to firefox_2006's topic in Hardware
Hi all, Thanks for all your replies, its weird because although some printers are showing as "offline" people can still print to them. I will have a play with some of the suggestions mentioned, might be a case of re-installing them with the exact manufacturer drivers. Our servers are 3 years old (HP Proliant ML150's) we have a new G5 ML350 sitting doing nothing at the moment. regards firefox_2006 -
Hi I have an issue with our print server showing half the printers on our network as "Ready" and half of them as "Offline". I have tried rebooting the server once this morning, and tried rebooting the print spooler from services.msc, but this has not fixed the problem. We run server 2003 standard edition here with service pack2, i did find a link to another post > http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows/8225-network-printers-going-offline-since-2003sp2.html but there was no real solution stated please help as I am getting moaned at now by annoying teachers lol firefox_2006
