Hi all i am having some trouble installing office 2008 on to our mac network, it seem to install really well i rolled it out using apple remote desktop which went very well (although it didn't ask me for a serial number aat amy time???) now when ever a student logs on it insists on taking them through a registration process which works ok on some macs but not on others?, then it will let some students use office but not others? all have the same active directory/od rights etc so i'm lost? did i use the wrong version ? i thought it was the network version does it make a difference on macs (are they clever enough to know you have a single user licence disk installed multiple times? this is not a cost issue as i am sure its the network version but i am at a real loss. Notes: we are active directory integrated and lock the macs down using workgroup manager does this make a difference? lots of questions foa mac guru (which i ain't!) thanks in advance uraken

Hello all i have been playing with the remote app feature of 2k8 and have ditrubuted apps via rdp and msi the problem i have is that if i launch the app on any machine other than the actual 2k8 server it just launches a normal rdp session. (i have tried win2k3 and xp). At this point it asks me for a server to connect to in the same way it would if you run mstsc.exe from the run command, where it should ust launch the remote app, clearly i am missing a vital piece of configuration but what??? any ideas as always gratefully excepted. thanks in advance Uraken

i had tried the manual install yes to no availl. However using your syntax did work Also i had not changed anything in the conf file. Can i assume that this is where the timeout settings are kept? as i would like the machine to stay at this screen until student selects an option. Also you say you have to do this every time would cd /efi/refit ./enable-always.sh resolve that? thanks

currently mac but i can hold down the alt key at start up to make a choice between xp or mac..

Hi all i'm using refit to try and manage my xp /osx dual boot environment but the boot menu fails to appear, i have follwed the instructions to the letter does anyone have any ideas? thanks in advance uraken

the old policy does not exist, there is no trace of any settings left that are applied to this user group this is the problem, i have created a new policy and forced update still no joy? dns settings all point to new the server.

hello all, i have had major problems this week, server with fsmo roles died, i siezed the roles to a different domain controller and took the broken one offline (never to return) part of the problem now is that it appears that group policy did not sync up properly prior to its demise. The result and the problem is that some user groups now are not getting their redirected desktops which are based around usergroups as it it looking for a policy setting which is on the old server, i have tried to implictly change the location of the redirected startmenus desktops etc but it still insists on searching the old server for them. I'm absolutley lost as to how to proceed as its a group name that can't be changed. has anyone any ideas??? thanks as always in advance uraken

Almost certainly sql/wireless (packet loss) related do you get the same errors if you hard wire and run sims?

providing adequete signal to enable two/three machines to log on to network download roaming profile and browse the net, i'm using 3com presently, the distance is about 20 feet and the signal is low or non existent??

use a different browser ie firefox that would force it to use light failing that have a look at the aspx file called C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\ClientAccess\owa\auth\logon.aspx it might be editable **** make a copy of it first**

thanks FN part of my problem is that SLT don't want new accounts so is there a way i could setup an new exchange server (given that i will need to do in a year anyways) and have some sort of forwarder to both domains for the time being ?? sounds easy so probably isn't possible or easy.... P.S i appreciate that i will still need to setup and manage new accounts on the new email domain but staff will carry on as normal.

Hi all i need to merge two exchange servers relatively seamlessly.(i think) heres the background as of September we merge with another school to form an academy but for one year only we are split sites (1 mile apart) so separate domains still but the powers that be seem to think we should have one email domain my problem is that i don't really want to have to merge domains so that we can have one instance of exchange can anyone enlighten me please.

The Successful company will be well established with and excellent portfolio and be able to bring a host of technologies to the design to provide things such as online repositorys, questionaires, feedback forms, upload download areas as well as be able to offer a bespoke service and bring their own unique applications and design ideas to the table. Natrually they will have expertise in SEO and be able ensure high rankings on certain keyword searches in leading search engines. They should ideally also be part of a design house that can transfer the design to brochure at a later date and have expertise in or have access to photographers that can capture and reproduce the ethos of the academy. The deadlines for this project will be tight and demanding as time is of an essence and they will need to form a partnership with IT staff to provide a ongoing solution that will mean that staff can update the website if required. There will potentially be the need to present design ideas as part of the bidding process to a panel so the company must be dymanic enough to showcase their ideas at all levels. Hello all. i want to know is it posible to link two geographic locations with sims.net? The situation is our school and another have federated prior to a merge and eventual creation of new academy on one site and we would like to be able to bring our mis systems together, we are happy to meet the licence costs etc so this is not a way to bypass those obligations just a query to see if it can be done and how. The two schools are connected to the same County wide WAN although can't see each other as yet, we appreciate that this is the first hurdle but then i am hoping it should be a question of setting up sims server on one site and having the second site map drives through to it? any help or advice greatly appreciated.

The serial interface is modular and i have checked that and all is ok but still won't show up? the ethernet is onboard. I suspect a dody IOS if i'm honest but as i understand you can't just download them if you don't have some sort of contract and as i came across the router second hand thats not an option.

i don't have a copy on disc.
