  1. Do a netstat -b and see if you've any known ports that belong to RAT / remote control software.
  2. Started playing again Saturday, managed to get to 74 in around 30 hours of gaming time - it's got alot easier and they've dumbed it down an awful lot, but the instances are more playable now. Any cools dudes on agamaggan?
  3. Have you tried opening with GOM?
  4. Did it extract to a folder, should have inf files you can right click (unless you've tried this [not the installer]?).
  5. A badly damaged cable can do some meaty damage, as can a damaged switch - do you have a big estate or can you quickly isolate a bad device/cable? RE: Cisco upgrades: if you register the product online against your Cisco account, you should be eligible for upgrades? I know I was for ASA 5510s. Best of luck.
  6. Tor is easy to stop, ensure you can't change proxy settings... it requires on the bundles that you redirect to localhost 9050, it can be changed but a simple way to stop it is to just ensure no proxy changes on local machines or deny 9050 locally (netsh to a scary logged proxy!). All the scary pages have the TLD .onion - it's pretty easy to stop this.
  7. Hello, Can you ping an ip on the net, say 8.8.8.8? If you can, try adding these lines into /etc/resolv.conf nameserver 192.168.1.1 nameserver 8.8.8.8
  8. You haven't considered it could be from farms of men who are lactating after years of hormone abuse!
  9. Well, I guess I'll go to the shop and buy 2l of full fat BREAST MILK from a cow as that's how they label it, oh wait...
  10. I'm more worried by breast milk!
  11. You can find me on QuakeLive getting slapped about under the alias 'GingerBear' and on Steam in CS-S and TF2 as FTT (steam username rhinobearpig).
  12. Get a contractor in, get them in on a day rate and it'll be better in terms of cost if you've a few.
  13. NAT isn't so bad, if you're totally knackered pm me and i'll check it when i can.
  14. Yes, and the firewall having an IP on both ranges - your clients would point to it (if on the same range as the firewall, i'm guessing so).
  15. You should have a inside (internal network) and outside (BT subnet) IP on the firewall, you might then assign a single IP for PAT. You should set your fw to be the default gateway on your network, well, you don't have to... it depends on your network setup, it's a bit of a horses for courses and what you have in place. If you've only been given one address, the router should play 'dumb' and the firewall should be your clients default gateway (depending on layout) but not have an 'outside' address.
  16. @localzuk I am not saying they will listen, i'm saying at least concerns have been raised and you/they have done all they can do... I've been in the position of nothing getting done, i fully emphathise! Sometimes you might get lucky and things get discussed, from experience it's normally a reply saying thanks for the information and no response Whistleblowing happens in hospitals, perhaps it should happen more in schools if things aren't 'right'. These spot ofsteds are a good thing IMO and i think an audit of IT and Facilities/H&S would be a good thing, then again if they can't listen to the in-house experts what's the point in having them?
  17. A teacher has a BIG say in process! They should be actively contributing if they think process is failing, if they don't they deserve to struggle - like i've said voicing concerns is the very least someone can do! This is the same in IT, whether you're a tech or an NM, you have someone you can voice your concerns to. You complain about 5 year old machines... fair enough, that's old but it's not the end of the world... you need to make your superiors aware of support costs in terms of your time and the frequency of problems, if they are aware - they are at fault. If you sit quietly crying to yourself, pretending all is OK and trying to support these machines whilst your seniors aren't aware, you're at fault... they can argue they aren't the IT people - they didn't know. My point is you can't hide behind "it's not my fault" and nor can a teacher. As much as they don't make the big decisions, they should be telling when they things aren't running right, SLT/SMTs aren't godlike beings, they make poor decisions - as do NMs. I definitely don't miss Ofsted... watching teachers fumbling to use SmartBoards after neglecting them for months, then complaining it's your fault... fun
  18. Teachers will have the same complaints, not a teachers fault the kids are naughty and don't listen... not a teachers fault that they couldn't get the new fangled gadget that would've aided a lesson. If you work in IT you are partially accountable... whether or not you buy the kit, it's your job to make sure that the kit you do have works as best it can and that your infrastructure is secure - costs nothing to document what you do, costs nothing to put your concerns in an e-mail and it certainly costs nothing to have some pride in your job! Just to add it's not aimed at localzuk, just replying to his post! I imagine localzuk definitely does do those things...
  19. I only remember Age of Conan being the 'threat' to WoW, it lasted about a month and everyone went back to WoW
  20. Spot of Quakelive, curtains drawn and play offs in back ground.
  21. Avoiding the sun at all costs. Playing counter strike source at 27... I have an excuse, sort of!
  22. I have two job offers that would start end of June, one with the company I'm contracting for - one for another company, I don't plan to do more contracting after - I like the sound of the money but i like stability.
  23. @hit - I don't get why they are penalising contractors, especially in this climate where it's easier for business to use a contractor than employ - fair enough, as long as we/they don't evade tax. @IKWeb - thank you, I will give them a call in the week.
  24. Yes, just read IR35... if they think you're not really a business they will tax you more, e.g, penalising most contractors... i don't have 1500 to spend on advertising I am only contracting 6 weeks then going perm, but this is the quickest way to get me on-board. Although contracting is looking a little bit more exciting in terms of earnings, i can't lie!
  25. So it makes no difference if limited, umbrella or self employed - i'd still get the same tax thresholds? Cheers!
