I've posted on there but still awaiting reply.

Just trying to get my head around using this software. I seem to have created the image successfully and deployment to the remote machines (all the same make and model) seems to go swimmingly, I get the message, "The system is being configured in accordance with the specified deployment options etc" and the machines reboot a couple of times as these changes are being undertaken, but on the third reboot they all hang at the configuration message. I've tried rebooting them again but the message screen appears and hangs once again. Has anyone faced this problem and come up with a solution?

The cut from 17.5% to 15% was only a temporary measure, and was going to revert back to the higher figure. The Government could have picked a less sensitive time to do it though.

We've just upgraded our server to 2008 64bit, and have decided to go down the IIS7 route rather than WAMP. I have been trying to install the Phoca Gallery this morning and I'm getting some errors, the main one of which seems to be that the jos_phocagallery_categories table hasn't been created. Could someone please help me with the correct syntax for creating this table?

I've just noticed a difference in what information the browser displays when using Joomla 1.5. When I'm logged in to the site I get Welcome to "Our School Name", yet when I log out and visit the school site it says Welcome to the Frontpage. In Global Config>Site Settings>Site Name I have the school name. Is there something else I'm missing?

Not being too au fait with Macs I took the pupil's word as gospel when she said she'd created the document in the Mac version of Publisher, it now appears that the program she used was something else which possibly bears a passing resemblance to Publisher. I will have a word with the teacher who brought this to my attention so that we can confirm what the program used is. Thanks for all your advice though.

I think XMA have the contract for the whole country, though I could be wrong on that. In our case the council/LEA, in conjunction with the schools decided on who should receive each laptop (free school meals, postcode etc.) and were originally slated to distribute them and were given a sum of money, equivalent to £9.5K per school to do this. Local heads saw an opportunity to get their hands on some more money and decided that schools would be best placed to distribute the laptops. Naturally, being loosely IT related, responsibility was passed down the line to the techs. We didn't want anything to do with them but were given little choice in the matter. Over a period of 4 days, not concurrent, we showed parents what was on the laptops and signed them out. XMA provided an 0871 helpline number (national call rates) for people to call if there was a problem, and naturally most were reluctant to do this, preferring to bring them into school if there was a problem. We have been left to diagnose problems for XMA before sending them off for any repair. Sometimes this can take months. Internet connectivity is provided by O2. The dongles were supposed to arrive in September 2008, but were a couple of months late and had a very restricted white list. We had to go through the council to contact O2 to open certain sites. Some people are still having problems and we're now finding it difficult to get a reply from the council. Considering the work we've put in (3 techs, 1 admin and Head of ICT) we blew that £9.5K budget long ago. Finally, the parents and pupils were told that they could hang on to the laptop so long as there was a child at our school, and that they were to be returned as soon as all siblings had finished here. Privately we expected a minority to disappear. We have had one returned so far by a pupil moving on. We have a duplicated sheet, one copy of which goes into our files, and the other is given to the pupil for their records which acknowledges the laptop's return. It has been a painful experience being the buffer between parents and pupils on the one hand, and XMA/O2 on the other. While I fully support the initiative the way it has been handled on the ground leaves a lot to be desired.
