Matt, sorry I forgot about your question. PA in itself only drills to the pupil names however you can create PA template and attach it to a home page panel which does allow a drill to the pupil/teacher view. The advantage of creating a template for staff and attaching it to the home page is that it avoids them having to come to grips with PA. Although PA is very very powerful and data experts love it, its a little hard to get to grips with to start off with.

We have had a number of "Reason 0" reported but I think for SQL Express and have been in discussions with Microsoft. We are programming around the issue, but as we can't recreate the problem we need more info. Please log a case.

On the web side - Complete intergration into SharePoint with either school level or LA implementation possible - With enterprise implementation a parent with children in multiple schools can see all their children in a single view. Teachers can record assessments, create written reports over the web, parents can see the outputs. On the client side - the home page can be customised to your role and pushes information to you. Lesson Monitor has a complete behavioural system built in that schools say that they have transformed the atmosphere within the school. AD provisioning; trusted logons I think a lot has changed!

MattMichell - take a look at PA (Performance Analysis) which is an extremely poweful tool. Data experts tend to feel at home with PA; I personally I think it could be a little more intuitive! You certainly shouldn't have to take data out of SIMS to turn your school into an out performer.

We moved away from off-line for Profiles as people have said SLG is our solution now. You can still do it with Assessment export/import to Excel but that won't give you comment banks. However, unless you use encrypted devices you are falling foul of new government guidance in data handling of pupil data by taking it off site.

We are getting reports of Reason 0 on SQL Express. There is something odd with memory allocation that we are getting assistance on from MS. Please log a support call so that we get your case recorded.

Suggest placing this question on SupportNet as it is very "SIMS". I think you can create a template for this but could not be sure. If this is for checking there are ways of achieving this for a HoD within Profiles. Sorry I can't be of more use!

Thanks for the update. Any further info would be very helpful as well as any others confirming they have the issue. It certainly doesn't happen on our test rigs or in our test schools.

I'm told this happens if you have not got the lastest MS updates applied to the workstation. We always recommend that you take the security and bug fixes for the operating system. If that isn't the case then please let me know.

We do have an issue on importing Key Stage data from other systems - there is a database patch to the March release that solves this.

If you are a SIMS user this is a standard feature for teachers and in widespread use - not in a browser though.

Needless to say, I think that you should have help in setting things up! SIMS is a very sophisticated, integrated solution and there are a number of concepts that you will need to understand if your school is to get the best out of the system.

You have to set the pannel attributes using the spanner.

You can have two pannels - one for the year group and one for the form. In fact as a HoY you might want a separate pannel for each form?

We will also be reviewing the situation after the revised guidelines are released. Some areas are really impossible to implement in a simple manner. Take medical details - everyone would need to know about a nut allergy. The same field could contain info that is highly confidential.

Kiran, I agree with both of your observations! The defaulting option for groups is coming this year.
