If you think your LA support is crap, you haven't experienced SIMS direct support, you can be waiting days for a response.
-
We applied it to two sites last night and both appear to be working again as normal this morning.
-
Load SIMS Services Manager and turn off the SIMS Data Exchange Service. Some catastrophic error must have occurred last night. You won't be able to use Next Gen, but at least you'll be able to load SIMS 7.

It's now a two stage process as the new FMS has been pulled until probably September. By moving to Connected first, it will make the final switchover simpler for Parent Pay, plus I'm pretty sure the move is a mandatory stipulation with the license for FMS to become centrally hosted. No, you're not alone, there are a large number of LEA schools using FMS only as they've move away from SIMS.

I had this issue a few months back and it was caused by Sophos blocking the .exe from decompiling on the the workstation. Are you able to turn off the AV software whilst you deploy it as a test?
-
Yes, 31st December, but they don't tell you how much the new contract will cost until after this date. Such as the £2K per school minimum for FMS, even if you're a tiny school with a handful of kids.
-
To be fair, this was communicated to Support Units a while ago, but it looks like yours never passed the message on. Parent Pay are desperate for schools to start using Next Gen, so are giving them an obvious nudge. They’ve learnt the hard way with Next Gen adoption so they’re now forcing all schools to move to the New FMS. I can’t wait for the chaos of that changeover to start.

One thing to bear in mind is that Arbor (can't comment on Bromcom) no longer uses the old .bak file restore method of migration. They now use the Groupcall API to obtain the data and it has proved to be a little problematic with some data missing. Also, as soon as your SIMS contract is finished you have to delete all of their software from your system, so leave yourselves plenty of time to ensure the data is correct.

This has been posted before but worked for us... AMSI Protection: C:\ProgramData\Capita\Solus3\Deployments\ C:\ProgramData\Capita\Solus3 - Real-time only Exploit Mitigation And Activity Monitoring: C:\ProgramData\Capita\Solus3\Deployments\**

It's the absolute genius to release an update and not communicate that it is actually going out!

SIMS7 updates. How to find out they're available?
TooOld4This replied to Gongalong's topic in MIS Systems
I've not found a way to be anymore. I go roughly by when they have been released previously. The fact that you can no longer receive KB article updates means that we miss so much regarding updates and has increased the amount of legwork required to find anything out. -
SOLUS 3 - Install failed - Access denied to the remote machine
TooOld4This replied to Bankesy's topic in MIS Systems
On the workstation, run these from an elevated command prompt and then give it a reboot. netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Solus 3 DS" dir=in action=allow protocol=TCP localport=52965 netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Solus 3 DS" dir=out action=allow protocol=TCP localport=52965 netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Solus 3 Agent" dir=in action=allow protocol=TCP localport=52966 netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Solus 3 Agent" dir=out action=allow protocol=TCP localport=52966 netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Solus 3 Agent UI" dir=in action=allow protocol=TCP localport=8739 netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Solus 3 Agent UI" dir=out action=allow protocol=TCP localport=8739 netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="windows management instrumentation (wmi)" new enable=yes netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="Windows Remote Management" new enable=yes netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="File and Printer Sharing" new ENABLE=Yes Alternatively as a test, turn off the workstation firewall completely to see if it accepts the credentials. Normally you are right though as Solus will report that the Access Denied error is Firewall based. -
Are you completely uninstalling the Solus agent and renaming the SIMS folder? I'd also check that you have all the relevant file permissions set on the SIMS folder and the sims.ini file. Anything in the event log to say that pulsar.exe has faulted?
-
In that case why wasn't anything posted on the IVRs when there was clearly a fault with Next Gen the other week when there had t be a global fix rolled out by the support engineers? That took several days to be resolved and left a lot of schools frustrated.

FMS migration - access to data beyond migration
TooOld4This replied to jtcoops's topic in MIS Systems
It will be the school's responsibility to run any required reports and print off any information you may need prior to the end of your contract as Parent Pay don't offer a Read Only service for FMS. Once your contract ends, all SIMS/FMS software will need removing from your system.
