Thanks, just tried that but still receive the same error and tried other Windows 11 keys, Enterprise, Education etc. and still receive the error. I reactivated it for now with the Home Key and will investigate further on Monday.

First time I've received an error doing this trying to upgrade a new laptop with Windows 11 Home installed to my OVS Windows 11 PRO MAK Key. I receive the generic error in Pic, also tried other keys I have and all result in the same error. Have to create a normal Microsoft account to log this with them rather than my school account as its classed as home support apparently. Anyone had this problem too and if yes how did you solve it before I do more troubleshooting.

Yes and it should activate ok using bios windows key if Windows came preinstalled but i know others have had problems activating it this way with bios issues, if lucky its all ok if not that's more hours to diagnose to fix the problem. In theory its a plausible way to give out old tech to children in need but in reality its time consuming and you'll end up with a product the end user will likely say "is that it" 🤣

Yes this and more! by the time you strip it all back and remove licensed programs etc. then your left with a browser and even selling them at a nominal cost is a loss making exercise when you factor in time spent on them doing all the work.

100% this. lots of benefits having a dedicated classroom PC and separate staff devices. One big one is if the classroom PC does become unusable/breaks/crashes etc. then staff laptop can be used wirelessly mirrored to the screen and takes seconds. Guarantee you fixed network/classroom PC's have more uptime than a wandering laptop which results in more hours teaching and learning which is ultimately what schools are for.

Yes after the initial sync which will vary in time depending on files etc subsequent sync is just processing any changes so not noticeable and runs on logon automatically. There's a few OneDrive mappers out there but recommend Burconix as not tried the rest.

Sign into Microsoft Edge on both devices, use the edge homepage to add your favourite 20 website shortcuts and that's all you need, teachers/staff then can customise Edge homepage to whatever websites they use as teaching/support/admin staff will be different. Passwords saved etc. truly a seamless experience.

Yeah so you buy all those accessories to make a better workstation for the teacher and comply with DSE guidelines and maybe buy them a backpack to store them in and you near enough have a desktop PC in a bag 🤷🏻‍♂️

With SSO all of what you have described takes 20 seconds max on modest half decent kit, no problem whatsoever.

Seems like a good set up, also with a Microsoft365/Google Workspace school then moving between a classroom PC and Laptop/Chromebook is seamless, sign into Edge/Chrome and all browsing tabs open follow you around. Better than hunching over a classroom laptop bending down looking at a 15 inch screen with half the webpage you see on a bigger monitor displayed and small keyboard/trackpad to use, authority's used to take DSE guidelines seriously years back but with the creation of MATS not so much now.

Was going to say the same, I'm sure these decisions are made mostly by MATs with cost and central management the main driver and not teaching and learning. In my opinion and long experience classrooms should have dedicated Teacher PCs and hardware as part of the classroom furniture and laptops used by staff for PPA, take home etc. Using a laptop to be the main source of teaching is a step backwards whether there are "spare" or "floating" ones available or not.

I had a couple of connection issues in classrooms with Cambium AP's with devices not connecting to or slow speeds in the room the AP was in and for quickness to rule out the AP I unplugged it and solved both issues as all devices connect to the AP next door or close by. Maybe try that for a quick fix then you can look into it more when you have time.

They design everything you need including cabinets if needed, fibre links etc. they mostly supply Meraki/Cisco kit including switches but can work with Cambium kit if you have it already and add to your existing setup. depending on your current spec/setup you could be eligible for 1 switch or if nothing is up to current spec you could have the entire wireless network designed and installed including cabinets/switches/fibre links/cabling/access points. I'd apply asap and try and get a summer install if your eligible as so much easier doing all this in the holidays.

The funding will also include new switches if needed and any CAT 6 cabling required to new Access Points only and 1 external Access Point. Stone assign you a contact and then provide you with a few forms to fill and ask you for network toplology etc. and they usually plan it all along with a site wifi survey. Apart from the time it takes you to do gather the required information then most of the bid is done by them and the installation of switches/cabling/Access Points by third parties they work with.

I used Stone/Converge which handled most of it as they know what to apply for so you have a good chance of it being accepted.

Just to add i got a quote from BoxPhish last week as they do Phising simulations which is what i just wanted but the quote for 100 users was over £1,000, does include a lot more training than what i wanted it for as only want to simulate a couple attacks a year so £200-£300 seems reasonably if it doesnt go above that so I'll be enquiring too.

Seems like the Connect the classroom scheme has been extended and got extra funding for those that missed out 1st time. Always good to replace your existing working well equipment with stuff 5 times more expensive to prove your compliant i guess. Digital standards: Schools could be held to account
