Just bear in mind that the Novatech laptops use the Jmicron Ethernet controller and when using Arconis Snap Deploy Agent it doesnt work aswell as it should. we use Ghost and that works just fine tho

will have to check them out, any others that maybe a bit prettier anyone know of?

Has anybody seen these on the cheap recently after a wireless one with a touchpad built into it. ive found one on novatech but does anyone no of any others that maybe cheaper? Thanks

yes i used Simon Mewes great bloke happy to help all the time and the Nspire ones use the pegatron cases which for our teachers who demolish hinges they seem very stable. But time will tell

We have just bought 30 of the nspire laptops the more recent ones, with the 3yr accidental warranty as far as we can see there is nothing wrong with them had Novatech before as well and there still running fine. very sturdy laptops and the 3yr warranty for an extra £35 was a bargin.

I did think of that but they have the idea of storage now with individual log ons ect...

I know its a bit over kill for a primary school but i can see the primary asking alot more from the server in the near future and there is already a 1tb NAS box there that is practically full now so i have gone for 2 of these The clarkdale1u Server @ Novatech One will have 3 250gb HDD's and this will be used for AD, DNS, DHCP The other will have 3 1tb HDD this will be used for File storage, Print server + possibly SIMS in the very near future. Ok, so i got the spec of server sorted was just wanting to know about setting up a VPN what needs to be preinstalled on the server to allow the LEA to get it all sorted? THanks

Ahh thats good to know make life easier. the school are now saying they would like a VPN access from home to the server for documents ect.. i no the LEA offer this but what would need doing on the school side. would this also be too much to handle on 1 afternoon a week or would they need to look at someone full time? Thanks

ahh SIMS they was saying about roling this out too all teachers but at the moment they are more that happy having it installed on 1 machine that a member of the admin team inputs every morning. So the usual then with the roles then would it be acceptable to run all these on 1 server or would it be better possibly ordering 2 one as AD, DNS, DHCP the other with FILE and PRINT? Sorry to be a bit dump what you mean by MIS? thats the sort of spec that i would be looking at maybe a little bit more storage but thats all ok. what Roles would need to be installed on this only server AD would be a must DNS i would presume is there anything im missing? Thanks

The Primary school that i support are looking more interested into implamenting a server. the school has about 30 standalone PC's and about 30 Laptops also about 400 pupils and staff. the school its self has nothing in at the moment apart from a Espresso box everything else goes through county. i was just wondering is what sort of spec server i would be looking for and what roles would be need installing. What i can gather is that they mainly want it for safe storage and file shares as well as being able to lock down the PC's with GPO with indivdual log on's for each user. so AD Will be a must but what else? They also have an EES License what would they need to add to cover the new server that would be coming? Thank you

You should be ok, you can install XMAPP on XP or any windows then install XIBO ontop of that aswell as using this as the XIBO screen box. Hope that helps

Also let it run for the update time to kick into place, ive noticed that just restarting XIBO doesn't always work. so just leave it on for the time then check hopefully that should work.

So far there has been no proof that Ryan was driving, the bodies where that mangeled they are hard to identify. so you cant put all the blame on to Ryan with out knowing the facts. Yes its a great shame to loose those 2 people at such a young age. RIP.

Anything BUT Beko, everything we have owned in that make wether it be Fridge freezer or washing machine has died in less than 2 years.

Im with you on this one, installed a few months ago, but the tills keep loosing there mappings and then wont work ect.. support not the best either.
