I have looked at this article, have even tried manually downloading OneDrive app from Microsoft website directly and same problem. It doesn't happen when testing on a stand alone mac, only on a Jamf managed mac, so a clue there to do some further testing but as suggested before that OneDrive shouldn't be used for saving Logic Pro files and that's what I intended to use it for, then it will probably rule out its use.

We will be using Jamf pro to manage the Macs, no local Time Machine backups are setup. We already have an old Music Mac suite saving to a local NAS all linked to an old Mac server, or I suppose for Logic Pro a local USB drive the Music teacher uses. I do have a Synology RAID as a spare so will try and get that configured. Its a pity that Apple's new iMacs only have 256GB local storage as standard and need to cough out an additional £300 for a 512GB internal drive. We have the 256GB. I don't think Music teacher will move away from Logic Pro. Thanks for all the suggestions.

What would you suggest then to save Logic Pro files? I guess if not NAS or Cloud then local but we cannot allow that on a school's network.

We have RM Broadband and recently began experiencing problems with some websites not loading. For e.g. satchelone.com is not loading with a blank page on all student chromebooks, Spotify wouldn't allow Staff to login on its page. It seems its the user proxies and wondering if anyone else is having similar issues? The proxies we use are as follows: Clearly its proxy related as all websites load fine with unfiltered policy or when we tether to a hotspot, so at this point we know that the Student and Staff policy are causing the website loading issues. Policy 1 Filtering policy - Staff Policy proxy1.rmsafetynet.com Policy 2 Filtering policy - Student proxy2.rmsafetynet.com Policy 3 Filtering policy - Defaultproxy3.rmsafetynet.com Policy 4 Filtering policy - Unfiltered policy proxy4.rmsafetynet.com Thanks

I am setting new iMacs for a suite and have an issue with OneDrive. Students currently save to a NAS share but moving away from that and expect students to use the OneDrive app on Macs going forward. However when trying to login to OneDrive I keep getting this error: OneDrive Files On-Demand didn't start. Please restart your computer and try again. Error code: -1912600610 I have tried all the fixes via terminal commands to enable files on demand, but the error still shows on the iMac. Has anyone experienced this with new iMacs on Sonoma 14.3. Is there another way to get this working? Ultimately the students need to be able to save work from Logic Pro app to their OneDrive, and avoid saving on local disk, so need them to be signed into the app itself. Thanks

I have resolved it by selecting None in the payment options, hasn't forced me to then add card, and successfully made the VPP credit purchase.

I am trying to purchase a paid app in Apple School Manager to deploy via Jamf Pro. I have enough VPP credit for the app, however when I click on pay, I get a message saying 'before you can make purchases you must update your billing information. I have checked and there is an expired card on there that needs updating. Is there anyway to make the purchase using the VPP credit without having to update the payment information and having to enter card details?

[bromcom] Academy trust got £1m indemnity to challenge edtech firm
loxford01 replied to gszech's topic in MIS Systems
"Company accounts show Bromcom’s turnover rose by 60 per cent from £9.8 million in 2021 to £15.9 million in 2022, with a net profit of £1.5 million" Bromcom are doing great in their turnover though, I wonder why? https://schoolsweek.co.uk/academy-trust-got-1m-indemnity-to-challenge-edtech-firm/ -
Recommendation for WiFi and current issues with Meru
loxford01 replied to loxford01's topic in Wireless Networks
We got it working again, CF card was faulty, flashed with a new CF card using older firmware downloaded from Fortinet. Followed this guide Meru MC4200 Guide on an old Windows 7 PC with console connection via Putty to the controller. Once we got through the configuration setup stage we were able to access the GUI and it picked up all Meru APs, up and running. I'm surprised Fortinet could not give us these steps and instead asking to get a support contract worth over £1K. Now just got to keep it running until we upgrade our entire WiFi. -
Recommendation for WiFi and current issues with Meru

Is there a particular model of Unifi AP/controller to consider? Having this nightmare with the current Meru controller and realising none of the AP's can function without it, I really want to implement a solution that wont break the entire Wi-Fi infrastructure if a controller goes down again in future or unless I also get the relevant support contract with it. -

Thanks for your input and suggestions. I guess in the meantime a support contract wont be as expensive as a whole school upgrade which is around £40k. I have checked Fortinet forums and this is the best I can find but download links for firmware 8.4 don't work, let alone I don't even know if this is what I need as I don't know how it was setup in the first place. I will keep trying. https://community.fortinet.com/t5/Cybersecurity-Forum/MC4200-Corupt-Compact-Flash-card/m-p/256585 -
We currently have a Meru controller MC4200 and Meru APs across our school. Unfortunately the controller has failed today and we don't have a support contract with Fortinet to currently resolve this. I believe its the CF Flash card gone faulty but cannot find instructions to remediate this, nor is there a backup for this card. This means no Wi-Fi at all for students as the 70 plus Meru APs are sitting ducks without the controller. Fortinet support refuse to support and are asking that we contact a reseller for support. This was previously setup by a managed service provider who also no longer support the school as we now have a dedicated IT team. I would welcome recommendations on Wi-Fi upgrades, ones that do not require a primary controller that all APs rely upon. A cloud solution would be ideal but I would like to know what you are using, in the event of downtime what you have in place as a contingency to keep Wi-Fi connectivity ongoing and who you would recommended as there are so many choices like Mesh, Meraki, Ubiquti etc. I have established communication with a reseller who are willing to support but have just about got the ball rolling with a support contract which will take a few days to setup before we can get an engineer down.

Thanks, that explains it as Wireshark did indicate DCOM error on end client. What a headache this will be ensuring both server and end clients have the same update applied!

Since upgrading our Sims server to 2016, Solus deployment is failing on agents with error 'Access denied to the remote machine'. Have logged with our MIS support provider and they then logged it with ESS. ESS came back saying that telnetting is failing to connect to end clients so an issue on our server. However I can ping to end clients from Sims server and access C drive. - Firewall ports for Solus are all open - This was not an issue when Server was on 2012 and only until upgrading to 2016 it started. Has anyone else experienced this issue. I believe it might be related to a Windows update but just need to know where to start as being advised to use Wireshark to investigate the block further. Thanks

When searching for past emails from any shared mailbox in O365 within Chrome or Edge browser, the email message content does not show and seems to be stuck on the loading screen in the message window. I have attached image for clarity. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

OneDrive - Being able to see Sharepoint Shared Library
loxford01 replied to talksr's topic in Cloud Services
They should be able to add the sharepoint library as a shortcut within their Onedrive application or pin it for Quick Access. -
Yes we are having the same issue. Our users cant see any apps on o365 portal, the only temp fix is to refresh by pressing CTRL and F5 or googling the o365 login page, outlook, sharepoint etc. I logged a ticket to Micsrosoft. Microsoft response: As discussed, this is a known issue and it is as a result of an update deployed last night. I have run a sync on your tenant to fix this issue.
-
Response from Microsoft o365 support: I tried to check on a different account and it looks like this is already a normal behavior with Office web version. The issue is also happening on my colleagues accounts. This is one if disadvantages of Office web versions. I'm so sorry about that. The work around that you're doing is what also advised to me.

I have just had a another 30 minute Quick Assist with Microsoft support and they have also replicated the problem at their end and agree that there is an issue with files crashing within browsers. They tested in Incognito mode and had the same issue. My session was recorded as evidence and just need to sit back and await their response as they don't have a solution at present.

Users are having issues with opening Powerpoints in Chrome and Edge browsers through o365. When they for e.g. open a Powerpoint from OneDrive or Sharepoint directly from within a browser to Present, the screen goes black. Nothing happens or after a long while the Powerpoint will load in Presenter mode. If they end the Presenter mode to fix the black screen the Powerpoint would crash with another black screen in the tab. The only solution is to then close the tab and open the Powerpoint again and it would work and load as normal with Presenter mode working fine. It has been happening randomly but cant figure out what the cause is. Powerpoints open fine in the desktop application so assuming its a problem within o365. Any help would be appreciated.
