I would recommend looking at this https://synaas.uk/ Hosted Synology Backup

We are moving from NetSupport to their new Classroom cloud and so far much more easier to manage.
-
Thanks Peter. Can I ask who would send this email to them when they get an email to their school email, surely not the M365 admin and school PA should be doing this?
-
We were informed by our DPO that all governors should have an @school domain email account for any communication related to the school. They haven't been given any staff permissions and have been removed from global address book. I agree Teams is the way forward and I am sure they were using this but recently was asked to create an @school email for them. Its just one governor refusing to check emails on their personal device in any form and informing us that as an M365 admin we can set redirects and should inform them when they receive and email in their @school email. Originally they asked me to give permission to download apps as they can with their E5 license but we only have the A1 license, so I guess they were referring to the Apps for faculty license which allows for the download of office 365.

A governor has requested that they want all emails to be redirected from their school email address to their personal email address or for someone to check and redirect each time they get an email sent to their school domain email. As per GDPR I know this cannot be allowed if sensitive content is emailed to the governors school email. I want to check if it is possible in M365 to setup redirects to from work to personal emails and how this can be done? Also is it even feasible for someone else to check and know when an email is sent to the governors work account and monitor it and then inform this governor. Even if it is possible is it good practice? We have recommended that they should install the outlook app on their laptop/device but they refuse to do this.

Microsoft OneDrive taking hours to sync for users
loxford01 replied to talksr's topic in Cloud Services
Staff can add a Shortcut of any SharePoint folder to OneDrive. https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/add-shortcuts-to-shared-folders-in-onedrive-for-work-or-school-d66b1347-99b7-4470-9360-ffc048d35a33 -

We also have the same issue with 365 apps page empty, licensing error showing. I have just logged a ticket with 365 support and waiting to hear back.

Thanks. I have downloaded the backup configs, running & startup.cfg of this switch and a similar working switch. I have also located the clear option next to reset on the switch so could try to reset the password that way. I don't know exactly at the moment how I will use the configs to restore, through IMC there are options if I take the reset route. It is a live switch, end clients connected and we don't have redundancy in place. I guess I will be using the other working swtiches .cfg and restore to this one with the errors. Its an ex RM school so has a Edge VLAN setup, management VLAN and Edge Failover VLAN. All switches are using SNMP for their configuration.

I am trying to VLAN tag ports on a HP 2530 24 port POE switch, however I keep getting an error saying 'THE SNMP read write community name is incorrect'. I have tried to SSH into the switch but giving me 'access denied' so I assume whoever setup the switch around 10 years ago didn't use the correct password written on the network document. I admit that I am no expert in switch configuration so just finding articles to understand how to best fix this error and have a few options, as in try to clear the username/password physically on the switch, then try and SSH into it and change Community String, access the switch through its console port or just reset the whole switch. However I'm not sure how I would restore its configuration if I reset it as I believe I need to obtain its backup configuration file. I have access to the HP Intelligent Management Center (IMC) so can see all our switches but lots of areas to study to understand it all. I did try and set the SNMP strings for this switch from the IMC under modify SNMP settings and it does show a success prompt but still seeing the error when trying to do port VLAN tagging so I guess its not writing back through IMC. Subsequently I believe by setting the strings on this switch which may be incorrect, it has affected another HP switch interconnected which is now showing errors of 'The SNMPv2 entity, acting in an agent role, is reinitializing itself. This happens every hour or so and takes down network connectivity to end PCs connected for about 10 minutes until they work again. Funnily I also cannot access that switch Any advice on this would be appreciated.

We have had issues with Inventry Quick scanners for over a year since they were upgraded, only now to be told that when they stop scanning daily with no barcode light, it is a known problem and a software fix is being worked on. I must say it has been frustrating to get Inventry software to work whether its writing back late students to MIS which also often requires a service restart or just ensuring that staff and students can sign in and out without the hardware failing regularly. Their helpdesk ticket system isn't great and better to just phone them for quick support.

I did end up following through the 2 videos for Entra provisioning as we have 120 staff to provision but highly recommend to follow the videos shared by MW NetSupport rather than following through the PDF guide, so much easier to understand how it all works.
-
Our Synology is hosted in a data centre. We managed to find a provider who set it all up for us so don't have to have it onsite, we access it through a secure web portal.
-
@Michael Thanks for that very helpful and quick solution. I wonder why their customer support didn't recommend this option, would've saved me going through that 3 page guide.

We have signed up to classroom cloud from Netsupport and are at the stage of user provisioning. There is a very long guide to follow for Entra user provisioning that requires an enterprise app to be created and a lot of rules to be added so that users can login with their Microsoft account into classroom cloud. Has anyone attempted this approach instead of the CSV option? There is a bit where the schema editor for user provisioning needs to be altered and the schema text from classroom cloud needs to overwrite this. I see a warning when saving that user provisioning could be affected and want to know if this will have any effect on the global accounts provisioning on out Microsoft tenant or is this only for the Classroom enterprise app that we have created? Sometimes Microsoft don't make clear their warnings.

Is anyone having problems today accessing the Volume licensing section on M365 Admin center? I keep seeing this error and cannot access my downloadable keys or contract information. I wonder if Microsoft is carrying out an update on this page? Your current role does not have access to volume licensing. Please reach out to your agreement administrator to get the required access.

We recently had Internet outage and also took down our Voip phones so there was no way to communicate with staff other than through personal mobiles or doing a run around and its a big site. We do have a backup line that didn't kick in but what I want to know is, is there a way to send a pop up message through the internal network to all end users PCs? Its a windows vanilla network.

We use https://broadband9.co.uk/ for the cloud Synology backup.
-
We use Synology for o365 backup hosted on the cloud and data centre is based in the UK, works flawlessly.
-
We use Android boxes with full kiosk browser app and google slides running on loop on each screen, free and works well.

Thanks, I have recommended that we keep a number of DNA licenses and slowly transition to classroom cloud, however the costs are quite high in keeping both. Its a difference of around £800 extra per year, which isn't too much if you think about it covering your monitoring and compliancy. I have spoken to Netsupport account manager, they have discounted both DNA and Cloud as best they can.

We currently use Netsupport to monitor IT suite PCs on windows 10. We want to be able to monitor roaming chromebooks and were recommended to trial out NetSupports Classroom cloud. The cloud solution works great with the option of allowing students to join class by code as our trollies and chromebooks go walkabouts and get mixed up often. Anyone using NetSupport also considering moving to Classroom cloud? We have yet to test it on IT suites as Netsupport works ok on them. I am thinking of a phased transition from NetSupport to Classroom Cloud, as we need Netsupport for the exams period and it just works. Classroom cloud does cost more but we have the option remaining with Netsupport on prem on a virtual server to completely managed through the cloud.

TSOHost no longer supporting sch.uk domain
loxford01 replied to rckngslnd's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We have also just moved to Krystal from TSO Host. Highly recommended only because the process went smoothly. Just make sure that you copy over your DNS records from TSO Host before you click on Unlock, otherwise you may lose them. -
Thanks for sharing the article, I've registered for Jamf Nation. I will stick to the Synology route for Logic pro. I'm just curious to get OneDrive working just in case other applications might be used for Students saving work in the future. Apple and Microsoft don't always see eye to eye.

So I found that It's the restrictions settings under configuration profiles in JamF causing the error. If I unscope all restrictions to this iMac, then OneDrive works, as soon as I scope again it fails with the error. I have gone through each option within the restrictions settings and cannot figure out what is causing this. Under restrictions, I disabled -preferences so nothing is restricted in the -Restrict items in System Preferences, to no avail. I then allowed all settings under -Applications and that didn't work. - Widgets and -Media don't apply I guess. -Sharing services I allowed all options and still no difference. Under -Functionality, I allowed all options and no difference. So at the moment only by unscoping the entire Restrictions profile under Computer configuration settings in JamF will OneDrive work, which we obviously don't want. I have raised this with JamF support, but so far after logging numerous tickets for many other issues, they either don't get back to me or don't have a fix and need to test further in their own labs.
