  1. Update - we used the downloaded RDP file and SIMS is working as it should be from the domain joined PC
  2. @pablo007 given us an idea to try downloading the rdp file on the domain joined PC and going through there, cheers for that!
  3. Space looks fine on the RDS servers and users cannot write to C
  4. Hi all, Running into a bit of an issue where SIMS is crashing everytime a teacher does their register. Our SIMS server sits on a different VLAN to the iMac they are using which means a work around for taking registers is to use Remote App SIMS and RDS as if the teacher was at home. We've tested the exact same process on a Windows laptop and experienced the same issue here. On our domain joined PCs, we use remote app too. Testing registers being taken for this teacher on this domain joined PC, using the exact same process just without the RDS platform being used doesn't raise any issues. We suspected it may be something to do with their SIMS account but after testing with the domain joined PC and having everything work, we're a bit stuck as to what we can do next. The crash itself: the time tabling area/register area of SIMS becomes unclickable, everything freezes there but the tabs at the top such as "focus" and "reports" etc are able to be clicked and used. Any help is greatly appreciated!
  5. Okay so apparently not, I installed the certificate and it didn't fix it
  6. Hi all, I think it has something to do with this, found after months and months of googling: https://docs.umbrella.com/deployment-umbrella/docs/install-cisco-umbrella-root-certificate
  7. At my site, we use our Domain Controllers for DNS which then forward any unknown requests to Cisco's DNS servers, this is so we can use Cisco Umbrella for filtering. However, every so often, Youtube decides to not respond. We've figured out that changing our DNS server IP to google's resolves this issue but we're unable to do this across site for safeguarding reasons. Does anyone know how we can resolve this? We also use PRTG to monitor the network and have set up a sensor for YouTube; below is the output: Failed to establish secure connection [step 0] Socket Error # 10060 Connection timed out. [step 1] Socket Error # 10060 Connection timed out. [step 2] Socket Error # 10060 Connection timed out. [step 3] Socket Error # 10060 Connection timed out. [step 4] Error connecting with SSL. Error connecting with SSL. error:1408F10B:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:wrong version number [step 5] Error connecting with SSL. Error connecting with SSL. error:14077102:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unsupported protocol [unsecure] IOHandler value is not valid Please help! I've done all the googling I can think of TIA
  8. I guess WSUS counts as deployment? Haha Having issues where some clients have updates that won't install. Some work, some don't. I'm fairly new to WSUS so just need some guidance on how I can resolve this without going to each individual PC and updating manually. TIA Gabe
  9. Seems like the main issue is device drivers, maybe the one the Windows updated it with was older than a newer one on the provider's website. Thank you all for your help
  10. Unfortunately I can't change this, is everyone thinking it's something to do with settings on meraki rather than the actual device itself? I've updated everything I can on them lol
  11. Thanks for that, our bitrate is set a lot lower (6 to 54)
  12. I don't actually touch any of the settings on Meraki's side, that's for my manager. Just wondered if anything was wrong with the devices I'm trying to connect
  13. Yes. Most of them can
  14. I'm starting to hate Meraki lol - their SSIDs aren't broadcasting to some laptops. Might not be a problem with the APs but still, I need help. The laptop can pick up other wireless networks in the area, including hotspots, but our SSIDs aren't showing up in the list of available networks. Tried Windows updates, tried driver updates, tried a reboot. Any help is much appreciated
  15. We usually go for Dell Latitude 3470 (they work pretty well for most staff members, usually bought for SLT) - we do try not to make a habit of buying laptops for teachers (they drop them all the f***ing time!) If you are wanting to buy them though, go for 8GB of RAM with a 256GB SSD at least (don't buy spinners!) Hope this helps
  16. Hi all, Just wondered if anyone uses Kyocera printers on here and have had direct contact with the company, what is your experience with them? Good or bad? Can you say why? Thank you kindly
  17. Teachers are, majoritavely, thick lol
  18. Hi all, turns out the students were creating ridiculously sized images which caused the disk to be "full", I should've seen it sooner Thank you all for your help
  19. I'll try deleting the local profiles - I tested them using 1920x1080 pixels instead of inches and it did the same thing. Currently waiting for the teacher to give me the student's name so I can delete their profile - thanks for the help, I'll let you know
  20. The C drives have at least 40GB free, they aren't running out of RAM either.
  21. The students home folder is a mapped drive, we don't use onedrive here. Their drives are just on the network as shared drive S: for example.
  22. Neither, we use local profiles but redirect certain home folders
  23. Hi all, I'm working in a school that uses adobe CC and we're having an issue with a user. When they attempt to do something in photoshop, it comes up with a message saying "scratch disk full" - we operate an Active Directory based system, the user logs in with these credentials. The funny thing is, it follows them around on whatever PC they log in to. I have checked the space on the storage drive (as google suggested) and there is plenty of space for photoshop to use (at least 40GB). Any help is much appreciated as it's really bugging me 😂
