Bought myself the Sapphire 5850 a few weeks ago to replace my geforce 7950gt and its brilliant.

Hehe, if that's the halls I stayed in as a student I can imagine it being very bad in this weather! That bus was bad enough in the summer

Derby is covered in black ice this morning, as was my car. Couldn't do anything other than slide off my drive and if the main road hadn't been gritted I'd have just left my car there and not even tried it. The best part is the school carpark. You have to drive to the end of a road which gets progressivly worse as there's less people needing to drive along it. Then at the end you have to do a 180 to drive into the carpark. As I was driving sideways round this corner I noticed a wheelie bin with a sign on it saying "Very bad ice" ...yes...thanks for that...how about some grit/salt? Forecast for snow all day today I think. Will be fun if that sits ontop of the black ice!! :'(

The only thing I have in my call log about it is the "SM Bus Controller" we downloaded from the Toshiba Win 7 drivers website that we needed first to get some things to work.

We had a Toshiba Satellite Pro L450-13R which came with Windows 7 which we managed to install XP on. A lot of the Win 7 drivers from the Toshiba website worked fine although it was a lot of trial and error The rest of the drivers we got from the manufacturers websites. Dunno if that helps at all

I can't see any snow and there wasn't any on the ground 25mins ago when I drove in (car was an ice cube though). But I can hear children outside my window screaming *its snowing* so I guess it must be. Just...the smallest amount ever!

We do have a "portable" PA system (it takes 2 people to carry it) but they just wanted something smaller and more portable. Though maybe just getting some speakers would be better than getting something iPod specific. As you say, we could then use them for more than just the iPod Has anyone got any nice speakers for around £150?

Hey up, I have been asked by the PE department to see if I can find some nice speakers for an iPod, presumably so they can play music in the gym/hall. I don't think they've bought an iPod yet, so I don't know which model it would be. But they're looking to spend up to £150 and it probably needs to be pretty loud and fairly robust. Anyone got anything they would recommend? Thanks.

I tried to get 4oD to work but couldn't. I asked 4oD if there was anything I could do any they told me to use a line that didn't have a proxy on it

Hey up, We have a few of these Kensington Wireless Presenters (model 33374) which teachers seem to like. Last year, one of the teachers using one said that there was a fault with it and that it was bringing up a dialogue box. Upon further investigation, it seems that when you press the laser pointer button, it also sends a signal to press F5 on your laptop. Which is quite annoying if you're pointing at a webpage (refresh) or a word document (search). I thought this was a really wierd fault so contacted Kensington who asked me to send it back to wherever we bought it from. We just got a replacement back at the beginning of term, but this one has started doing the same thing. After some research, it seems that it isn't a fault as such and that all the wireless presenters in this range do this!! Someone "solved" this by disabling the F5 key, which isn't really ideal. Does anyone else have any ideas what we could do to solve this very annoying problem? Thanks

I've swapped the HDD with another from a spare laptop this morning. The New HDD works fine in this laptop. I then put the broken HDD into the new laptop and it BSOD. Seems pretty dead to me I've got a CD which I can run Windows from (is that a live CD? ) But that BSOD's when it runs too

Hmm, this Drive Fitness test found some corrupt files, which it then removed. However, the laptop still continues to BSOD on startup. I took the HDD out and connected it back to my laptop via USB and it still makes my laptop BSOD too

The problem is that I've taken the HDD out of the laptop and attached it via USB to my laptop and still get the same problem, so it can't be the RAM, or the RAM slot, as it is no longer connected to them. I've downloaded a Drive Fitness Test from Hitachi and I'm running that now to see if anything comes up.

I've tired 6 different lots of RAM, so I can't see that as being the problem, although most of the posts online seem to suggest RAM as being the problem. I'll have a look at the other solutions and let you know!

Hey up, A teacher has brought me their laptop (acer Aspire 5610z) which keeps BSOD on startup. I've tried removing the hard drive and attaching it to my laptop via USB. Then my laptop BSOD Starting the laptop in safe mode results in BSOD. I've swapped the RAM around and tried each bit on its own, still BSOD. I've tried installing a new copy of Windows XP, but as soon as I select the first option to install windows...BSOD. I've tried running Windows from a CD and it doesn't even get into Windows before BSOD. The message it shows is: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA STOP: 0x00000050 Am I to assume that there is no hope of getting anything off this HDD? Any help greatly appreciated

When I was at 6th form I used to work in a cafe, but I bought my lunch from a sandwich shop round the corner (the place I worked was too expensive, even with staff discount). I used to have half a massive stottie with brie and grapes. I only had 15mins for lunch as well so I used to buy it on the morning and it would sit in the cupboard till lunctime so the cheese was all squishy. It's making me hungry just thinking about it!!

My car has a big dent in the driver side door where someone drove into me. It was her fault, but she had right of way so she decided to claim on my insurance, losing me 5 years of no claims bonus. And it's just failed its MOT today as apparently they need to replace something on the front suspension. Even though it was booked in for a service first - surely they should've picked up on that then? They want me to pay for the suspension to be fixed and then for another MOT. I said if i'm paying for another MOT I'm not going to pay for the service as they obviously didn't do it right. This all really annoys me as i hate driving. I hated driving when i passed my test and I still hate it now. I only live 4 miles from work and my boyfriend has a car so we could just use his and i'll bike to work

The second "The Stig" appeared on the screen this week, me and my boyfriend both said "that's not the old stig". He was blatently a whole load shorter than the one they had last series.
