i have 29 GPOs (not all of them are used.) just what's listed next. 1 x for all users and extra ( sets basic set-up) 1 for staff (icons and power man) 1 x for students (same as staff and restriction settings) , User settings 1 x all computers 1x staff and 1 x students , Computer Settings No *** Do you disable Computer / User settings if the policies only apply to the opposing option? *** Yes i have done this. testing did not narrow down any thing every thing worked fine.. im now going to disable the GPOs and rebuild them with fresh ones..

had it all checked and tested the GOPs take so long on 2008 Logs are all fine DNS is fine the DHCP is Fine.. , it just takes 10 min.. will have to install 2008 R2 and upgrade form 2008.. unless any can help with any ideas... im up grading to 8g ram in the server from 4GB as the DNS is eating 200MB at a time. ?? that's not right i know, even my perv company server DNS don't eat that much ram.. i have all the computers in the school WOL at 8 am.

Allways wait for the network at computer start-up - i turned it off and the login went from 10min to 2min.. been testing with samba PDC login time 10 sec.. but not a viable option

I had the same problem it turned out to be the Samsung digital sign-age software was trying to dish out PXE info. it caused big problems with FOG....

i do \\server\users$\staff\%username% but i block all music, video, and jpg from syncing. to its faster and saves on space on the HDD..

building scripts to auto compress AVI,Mpeg and (flip cam) NOD files, Compress wav's to MP3 and and resize all JPG over 2mb down by 50% with 15% compression Yes that's right freeing up server space.

i use offline files never had a problem with it. just config up a GPO all sweet.. and set to sync at logon and shut down. and set not to sync large files and temp files like AVI, MPG, tmp, MOD(Flip cams) and so on. all good

Long shot.. i had a new Samsung Digital signage fitted and the software has a pxe software running in it for the DS fir fixing it and it was blocked my windows dhcp from offering out the right gateway ip and settings.. any thing like that at your end ?? just sounds like the same problem i had..

have a look at GS74TP i have them all over the school 10/100/1000 PoE (Cisco compliant) never had a problem

i used TurnKey Core | TurnKey Linux Virtual Appliance Library for a fast install of ubuntu 8.04 and installed fog by using the core install of Turnkey Linux I keep the foot print of the server OS small for lots of images. works a treat.

there are some nice server setups there.... Will have to install some my self. shame there is no 2008 R2 server replacement lol.

use the HP USB tool. if you wan to install fresh over the network .... have a look at ( Ultimate Deployment ) then use autoIT to finish the install. it will install Windows XP/2000/2003+R2 and Linux. and if you have OEM CDs put therm all on there like i have for ACer PC's , IBM Laptops, Tosh Laptops, Dell laptops, HP USFF PC's. there working on Vista and Windows 7 and 2008+R2. or go to bootland and look for install from USB it will do XP and Vista so you can have 1gb for XP 2k/3/R2 and 4 GB for vista, Win 7 , 2k8/R2 small bat file But cool..

If you Download this Warez at school then you do need to be shot (in the head),But as this is aimed more at the home user it's there you need to keep an eye on things. Get spotify for music and Stream over the web. xbox 360 / PS3 / SkyPlayer.
