so \\server\username is the share or \\server\group\username? as you had full for everyone on the group share anyway the other perms wouldn't have been used just looks tidier and easier to manage here we do this our user paths are \\server\users$\intake\username only users$ has share permissions allowing 1 point of entry with Everyone FC (less overhaed for the OS also) the username folder has NTFS permissions for staff (modify) relevant user(modify) and admins (FC) this maps to a H:\ Drive using AD in group policy then we had to set the entry that states that shares should be mapped to the root folder to disabled - this should then allow subfolders as drive letters. sharing the username with everyone full is ok as long as your NTFS permissions have been setup correctly otherwise it can be a big security hole

Firstly, giving everyone FULL negates the need for the other entries on your Year Group Share I am presuming this is for a Home Directory, if so how are the paths arranged in your AD structure. Something like \\server\yeargroup\userfolder ?? if so there is a group policy to alter how shares/ drive letters are mapped - in the user profiles section of Group Policy you want the setting for Mapping Shares to the Root If I am barking up the wrong tree then I do apologise but this is the firt thing i could think about HTH Mark

once removed i think it is removed from both unfortunatley the other option is, FB sends out emails when stuff is posted/ commented on, now, unless this is turned off this may be the way to go. the email tells who said what and when and usually gives the entire message that was posted HTH

Once the LDAP settings are set, you should be able to log in without doing the import... or atleast thats how it worked for us. What i did here was login as the accounts I wish to be admins then login using the standard moodle admin. you can then assign the administrator permission to the users that have logged in Not had use to run the import as users get created on the fly when they first log in

Try the settings in here just replace the relevant ones for MSAD use the IP address of the LDAP Server also take note of the settings further down on a windows computer do a run ldp.exe (from runn command) this should help with getting the distinguished names of the locations you want LDAP S...pdf

how have you setup your moodle LDAP Auth settings??

OK LDAP is enabled by the looks of it, when you try to login to your moodle site (with an LDAP account) do you get an error and if so could you paste it here??

in your php.ini you need to uncomment the php_ldap extension then restart apache (unless you have already done this) to check goto http:///admin/phpinfo.php then do a find for ldap and see if a) it is listed and b) the top row states enabled

can you login with an LDAP account without running the file??

Just out fo interest for those still using PCE - we are getting a lto of issues with windows bugging out with an explorer crash and a Dr Watson Postmortem Debugger error. This is causing issues here and was wondering whether any one else was having the same. The usual culprit is PCE and i have removed it from a few machines to see if the issues dissappears. 90% of the time the error occurs whilst using Word. It's getting frustrating now, numerous updates, updates that fix things and break things that were fixed, then back to being fixed..... it's a never ending circle
