@OP Yea I was 19 almost 20 when I started mine so it is not impossible. My Boss actually wanted someone a bit older what with it being a secondary school with a 6th form.... A 16 year old person may struggle in that environment. Yea they can be tough little jobs to find. I still really sell the apprenticeship to people as I freaking loved mine and it has set me right up as most employers prefer experience over certificates to be honest. I am now 21 and in a nice stable IT job with a nice salary so it can defiantly work out for people! Anyway I wish you the best of luck whichever way you go. Make sure you keep us updated!

This seems like you have been fed a line here! I know it is rude to ask a lady how old she is but.... how old are you? I have a friend who did her degree then got a catering apprenticeship so I see no reason why the same can't be done with IT. Though the volunteer advice is good advice. When I was doing my apprenticeship I got a Saturday job in a little computer repair shop as the counter guy which added to my experiences so little things like that are good to look out for as well.

Hi, I did EXACTLY what you did. I went to uni for a year realised it was not my thing and decided I wanted a career in IT. After 6 months washing dishes and serving chips I got an apprenticeship, this is by far the best way to do it imo! If you wanna talk to me about my experiences or ask me any questions drop me a PM. Hi guys, Could someone make me a reg file to turn my windows keys into control keys and a reverse script please <3 I know there is software out there to do it the reason I am asking for a reg file is because I will need to do this on different machines and installing software to change key binds is forbidden. rules be rules man.

Seems daft to me. PC gamers will have an advantage over the console guy on pretty much every game except maybe RPGs. It will cause problems on games like Halo, I know there is lots of e-penis talk about this but a mouse is just more accurate than a control pad which will put the xbox guys at a huge disadvantage... I can only see this causing problems for what is essential no benefit.

Error I get from paint....

Error reads: "Failed to save to the specific location. Make sure the file is not write-protected and there is enough space on the drive to save the image. Copy to Aborted" Sorry the image I posted was rubbish

Right so a user is trying to open a TIF with Microsoft Image and Fax viewer (or w/e it is called) and save it as a jpeg. When ever she tries to save as a jpeg she gets this error Both of these things are huge lies. She has full permissions for the folders in question (I even tried with her docs just to make sure). Space is not an issue. If anyone has any clues I am all ears. Thanks in advance.

Just gonna put my comments in here... Mine is an exceptional case but I thought I would drop it in. When I was a 6th form student (3 years ago) I had all the IT techies added on steam and we became really good friends. They are who inspired me to become a techie myself. Now I am 21 and they are in their 20's too we go out drinking together go for curry nights and even have mini LANs. I know that my experience does not speak for everyone... but I do think it can sometimes be a positive experience. Having said all of this I then went on to be a techie in a school and I would never dream of adding students on steam just because you open yourself up to so much rubbish.

Hi guys, We are having some problems with our windows 7 machines here just dropping connection for a second. We see the little yellow triangle and then the connection is restored. We have tried changing every lead and port between the machine and our server. I know that users give us these vague problems with no real detail and we hate them for it. I am doing the same here because we literally have no ideas as to what it could be. We are using NOD32 security if anyone knows of any odd conflicts that can cause. Hi guys, I run a small website for our SC2 team (yes massive nerd) It runs on word press because I assumed that would make it super easy to manage... I have a couple of pages I wanted to add tables to for formatting reasons. Now I am not a HTML wiz but I know what the valign="middle" tag should do. Apparently wordpress is not interested. I am getting rather frustrated and I just wondered if anyone knew anything about using tables in wordpress and would be willing to give me a hand.
