Hello, We pay for a susbscription/Open Value Subscription for Windows 11 Education edition, since Oct 2022. For some reason, whever Windows has a major update, the following time you logon the machine it says Windows isn't activated - when I check the Product key, it's a total random one and not the one I entered. Does anyone else have this problem? Or know how to solve this issue. Thank you

Thanks for your response. Are you able to instruct me on how to do this? As I have never had to do this before, this will be the first time doing it without MSI. Do I just install as normal and copy the folder? Then deploy the shortcut?

Hello, We are looking at installing Audacity 3.2.3 and want to rule the software out to the machines. I notice they only offer exe file which of course I can not deploy through GPO. We also do not have intune installed on the server, our network logins are not connected to our Microsoft accounts due to the fact that we use Google. Would anyone be able to create an MSI or point me in the right direction? Thank you

Hello, Our Year 1's are doing a lesson on how to open up software from using different methods (Start Button, Search & Desktop). I've noticed that when they click on All Apps only the pre-installed apps appear! They do not have access to C drive, could this be why it's not working? Also, on the settings everything has been hidden apart from sound, so do they need access to the programs list? ANy help would be great. Thank you

Hi, I have noticed on the children's logins when they click on Start - All Apps the only ones that appear are the pre-installed apps. Is there a way that I can get all programs installed on the machine to appear and remove the pre-installed? I've also noticed they can't use the search button to search for a program either, but that's been an issue since Windows 7. I'm not sure whether it's got something to do with Ergo Free2Teach software that provides the permissions. I can't even ask Ergo as the software is discontinued. Thank you

Hello, We currently have Ergo Free2Teach (F2T). In which we are now facing some issues, so are looking to move away from this software. Is there any good alternatives that you use to monitor/freeze/remote/shutdown/restart machines? I have been looking at LanSchool, which pretty much does everything F2T does but more modern plus more features. Just look for advice on whether ahyone else has used this system or have another system they would reccomend using. Thanks in advance.

Hello, Does anyone know of a script or easy way to update all users account pictures from the default to our school logo? Most of our machines are Windows 11 and have a handful of machines on Windows 10. I have searched up on it but the only way I have found is to do it manually? Thank you

WSUS wasn't set up on our server after we upgraded as it was suggested that it's best for the machines to get the updates directly from Microsoft/Updates. Our previous server has wsus set up but we found that everytime we turned on a computer it would re-install the update everytime. I have managed to upgrade the laptops/computers manually.

Hi, Is there a way I can force my Windows 10 machines that are compatible to Windows 11? Majority is now on W11, but I'm waiting for teachers to give me their laptop to upgrade so ideally I want to force it on the server so next time they turn it on, it starts installing. Is this possible?

Hi, We recently got new computers that are on Windows 11. I have noticed Social Media apps are pre-installed but I do not wish to uninstall all pre-installed apps as staff and pupils use things such as Snipping tool. I have exported a Start Menu with the apps I want to be pinned, and saved as a .json and .xml but neither seem to work when I deploy it through GPO. Is there another way where I can get my custom start menu across all devices? Thanks

Hi, I have followed steps from Microsoft here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/startlayout/export-startlayout?view=windowsserver2022-ps) I went to Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar and enetered the \\domain\Public\StartLayout.xml and applied to my test machine, I have done gpupdate/force restarted etc and it's still not pinning the apps to the Start Menu. Hello I have noticed on our Default Domain Policy we have something to do with Lynx 4 (which we have never used). Could someone assist me in how I go about removing this from the Default Domain Policy. I no longer have the files either. Hello, We have recently purchased new laptops, that has come with Windows 11 pre-built. I have noticed it ha social media apps installed. I have manually uninstalled them but when I login as another user they are back again!! Can anyone provide me with details on what you did, to remove these. Our only problem is that we use the Snipping tool, Calculator, Photos app, Video app, Paint and Notepad, so I don't want them to be uninstalled. Would be grateful for any help! Thank you

If that doesn't work, then it will just be the case that the teachers can't extend their screens - they never used to be able to.
