It appears Google just bought the mobile arm of Motorola for $12.5 billion!

Yahoo is reporting that the agreement is paying a premium of 63% per share over the price they were trading at on Friday.Google are planning to run it as a separate business but one has to wonder what the next wave of Motorola handsets will be like when they are released.

This could also mean big changes for the tablets Motorola have been producing and certainly seems to explain why no Motorola Windows Phone 7 handsets appeared.

Will Google bring more to the table like the Nexus range which were very nice as Android phones go?

Also I wonder if Motorola is actually making the next Nexus not Samsung as rumoured now?

This also could make Google a direct target for litigation unlike before when Apple/MS sued the hardware companies for running Android rather then Google directly.
