Now that the Harnessing Technology grant has largely been redistributed to fund free schools it suddenly raises the question, what are schools to do now to replace all of the free stuff that was often 'given' to them? For many years schools were provided with anti-virus software, internet connections online resources and other packages all paid for by money from the Harnessing Technology grant which often had a slice of the funding been by LEA's and RBC's before the remaining funds were distributed to schools (top slicing). Now these funds have had a large chunk removde from them we at EduGeek are curious to find out how schools are going to manage.
We's like to know about what software and services that you were previously given 'free', are you now having to purchase yourselves, and what do you now consider to be an unnecessary luxury? If you want please tell us all what it was you had before, and what it is you are now to use, as well as what you are to no longer renew. Actually, let us know if something that you are not going to use any longer would have been used if you had the money to pay for it. We think the answers are going to be very interesting indeed, with a big shift between service providers and software houses, and a whole markety which was almost prevoiusly closed by long term deals being opened up again.
