The RDS team has innovated in three key areas: Security: RDS-hosted environments can use authentication with Azure Active Directory – see how you get advantages like Conditional Access policies, Multifactor Authentication, Integrated authentication with other SaaS Apps using Azure AD, and the ability to get security signals from the Intelligent Security Graph. Moreover, by isolating the infrastructure roles (Gateway, Web, connection broker and others) from the desktop and app deployment hosts, we add another layer to separation for higher security of your virtualized environments. Cloud readiness: There are updates coming to infrastructure roles with innovations in the existing RD infrastructure roles – Web, Gateway, Connection Broker, Licensing – see how to take advantage of the elasticity and scale capabilities of Azure. Get a first look at the new Diagnostics role that helps you monitor your deployment effectively. Windows apps on ANY device: RDS has long had the flexibility to run on cross-platform desktop and mobile operating systems using apps, but we are now building support for HTML5 browser-delivered experiences. gshaw Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 (edited) About time too Hopefully this means better suppport on non-Windows devices when using Modern Auth as the RDS Client for iOS \ Android has been lagging behind. You can already do Modern Auth via some tricks with Kerberos Delegation but I guess the new update should bake it in as a standard feature which is good to see. Edited September 22, 2017 by gshaw

I can't get it to run at the right screen resolution at all.
fiza Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 I have started setting up RDS on Server 2016. Where and how do I get it to use HTML5? At the moment when I try to connect it still downloads the usual RDP client and asks me to execute it.

From the comments on their blog post it sounds like the new client and RDS features are going to be released as an update to Windows Server 1709. If you don't want to install 1709 you will probably have to wait until the next LTSC release (Windows Server 2019?). https://arstechnica.co.uk/information-technology/2017/06/windows-server-to-copy-windows-10-get-twice-yearly-feature-updates LTSC releases of Windows Server will come out every two to three years (typically synchronized with LTSB versions of Windows 10). They'll be supported with five years of mainstream support (receiving security and stability fixes), five years of extended support (receiving security fixes), and—for organizations that pay for a extra—six years of premium assurance support. 1

Simcfc73 Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 I saw this yesterday (its from January but wanted to revisit it) The Microsoft Platform: HTML5 client for Microsoft Remote Desktop Services 2016: Remote Desktop Web Client Looks rather good and would remove our 3rd party RD tool saving us ££££. Linking it to Azure App proxy and MFA would be ideal for us (currently have this setup for a couple of remote desktops) 3

Arthur Posted July 9, 2018 Author Posted July 9, 2018 Remote Desktop web client preview updated with SSO One of the most resounding pieces of feedback we received from the Remote Desktop web client public preview is to remove the credentials prompt when launching a connection. We decided to squeeze that in before general availability and today a new version (0.9.0) is available for validation and feedback. Note: If you’re already using the public preview, there are additional steps needed to move to 0.9.0: Uninstall the client and module. Install the new module. Deploy the broker cert. Download and publish the new client. 2
box_l Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 It looks great! It works really well on the internal network. All I get from outside is "Oops, we couldn't connect to ...." I am using a Sophos UTM 9 I have a feeling it is something to do with websockets and the UTM not handling them well. Or at all. I have the same errors on all the versions i have tried, 0.8.x - 0.9.x Normal RdWeb works just fine. Any ideas? Does anyone have it working on other firewalls? Regards BoX
